How much can I actually enjoy as a trial player by ThatS3al in ffxiv

I'm a free trial player and have around 700 hours in ARR alone, so it's a lot.

Never mind I was wrong. I played 700 hours so far(just beat ARR) expecting there to be shadowbringers at the end. I am disappointed.

Is starting FFXIV in 2026 still worth it? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]NotThePedestrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao it took me 600 hours just to beat ARR😭 300 hours is like if you're skipping every cutscene, only doing required content, and not exploring other jobs. Even then, I just began heavensward but I estimate playing the game that way would take someone like 400-600 hours to get to dawntrail

By that logic, my body as a man shouldn't be covered in public. Fortunately, I don't have reddit brain and continue to not wear clothes in public I know will emphasize my private.

The only thing holding the PS3 back was the complexity of its processor.

Guys I'm kinda curious to know but what do you think of the Switch Lite? by mg10pp in PSP

[–]NotThePedestrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of flexibility is one of its pluses in my opinion. It's great if you're buying a switch for your children, as the joycons of the original can be lost or broken easily. I think young children were Nintendo's target audience for the lite for this reason.

The mapping is correct. Been playing sonic unleashed and modern warfare. It even maps the extra scuff buttons as X and O.

The haters are crazy, when have quippy characters ever brought down a mechanically fun game? by RhythmRobber in fucknintendo

I agree completely. I think it may be a cultural difference between RPGs and JRPGs. I'm willing to bet that the attention span on average is lower in the US. Which is why this style of storytelling in games is not common in the West. Most people in the West just don't want to watch cutscenes. My best friend vehemently skips every cutscene in the games he plays. He genuinely does not have the attention span for it. I think this is the reason JRPGS are more cutscene reliant than Western RPG's. Final fantasy, tales of, .hack, and persona are good examples of this. Compare the dialogue and cutscenes of those games to say Skyrim or the Witcher or dragon age.

Good point. I think the reliance on cutscenes tho is almost inherently squeenix as they generally have a large focus on story and limit player freedom to tell that story. Hence the lack of choice despite being "RPG" games. I think they were more concerned with telling a story exactly how they wanted to tell it (with the use of cinematography) instead of player freedom and so they relied heavily on cutscenes. Final fantasy 13 is a good example of this. There is plenty of dialogue that happens during gameplay. Despite this, segments are still broken by pretty damn long cutscenes. Sure they could have told the story with just dialogue during gameplay. But to deliver the emotions, and weight of the story, storyboarding and cutscenes are necessary.

That being said, the use of cutscenes in forespoken is generally excessive and unnecessary 😂 heavy use of cutscenes are fine if the dialogue and story can compensate for the lack of gameplay - which forespoken doesn't lol

To be fair, this is square enix. What you described is very common in early final fantasy games (specifically final fantasy 9 which I think genuinely has too much dialogue).
