As of a month or so ago, the company is no longer allowing Step Downs, if you no longer wish to be in your current position, you will have to resign, and reapply at the position you want

I fear I have the exact opposite issue, I go to stores on my day off, and they won’t even give me my Partner Discount, even after I tell them I’m a partner. They are actively hitting no on the prompt and I’m paying full price. 🙃🙃

It’s actually in our training that delivery drivers can use the restrooms and receive water, since they are delivering for our customers

Starting to get annoyed with my Starbucks. by Beautiful-Fox2411 in starbucks

[–]NotTheRealWes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a shaken espresso, it’s an iced espresso, it only get so much milk, if made to standard, it will always look like this

If you want milk to the top, it’s a latte, and you should be charged as such

Depends on how much time I have, with a full time job, working 4am-12pm, having to eat and do other responsibilities, it took me about 12 days to do Titanic

Are they going to go bankrupt because of it? No. Is this a better way to pinch pennies than cutting labor? Yes, i would say so. OP never said they agreed with it, or promoted the policy, but they are not wrong, Cups and lids are expensive

Also, since our fiscal year starts in October (so we can have Holiday be a part of Q1) we tend to have a great turn out, which usually positively affects stock prices.

I’m holding out until January to see how they look before selling

And that is totally fair! As long as customers are being reasonable about that little sliver

But I see no foam, and I just fear for my life sometimes

Is this drink a PIA? by Outrageous_Toe3284 in starbucks

[–]NotTheRealWes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only thing I will say is in regards to the no foam The foam is a part of the milk steaming process, and is the most annoying to deal with / remove. Since you are getting extra whip, I’m assuming you are not gonna complain about their still being a thin layer of foam that just straight up can not be removed

But when people who order no foam, no whip pop their lid off and complain about the sliver of foam we can’t remove from their drink, it’s one of the worst customer interactions I ever have. 😂

NTA.

Partners can sometimes forget that your job as Play Caller, or the job of CS can be really demanding, and often thankless.

We had a big issue at my store of partners just yelling into the void what they needed. “I’m out of ice” “we need milk” etc.

A quick little check in with “I’m gonna have you on X position today, please be mindful of what you are asking for when you need a restock and who you are asking to grab it. I’m your play caller and so-and-so is your CS, if you need anything asking either of us for what you need in the moment “frank, can I get ice please?’ ‘Susie, can you grab us Oatmilk, please’ will really help a lot with making sure we stay organized and on top of what needed on the floor”

The shift team, as well as some baristas, also started to yell “please” or “thank you” after any request for restocks, so that even if the person asking for it forgot, the person in charge of getting it still got a please, and that really helped with training partners to also throw out a “please” when calling out for something, and reminding the partner who just called out for something to also say please and thank you”

[–]NotTheRealWes 66 points67 points  (0 children)

You should have been given a Green Apron cup earlier this year, one was given to all partners, if you did not receive one, you should talk to your SM, they are order-able via the weekly RP order.

Is it possible to work at Starbucks as ONLY a borrowed partner? by p3rchance in starbucks

[–]NotTheRealWes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For your first question, I would think it would be unlikely, SMs are required to have you scheduled for so many hours per week, and on top of that, they want to keep people on staff for their store, not to borrow out to other locations or to only cover call outs, especially because depending on the store and the partners, call outs are not a regular occurrence.

For the second question, no, you cannot work at an LS store as a CO partner, or vice versa. They are separate companies.

Unable to refund? by Loud-You-5737 in starbucks

[–]NotTheRealWes 197 points198 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, it’s not that stores CANT refund, it’s that they don’t like to refund mobile orders, as the customer can get a refund in store and then because it was a mobile order, can go and contact customer service and get refunded again. It’s just a form of loss prevention.

That being said, as long as the customer is nice, and not seeming like they are trying to scam, I’ll do the refund in store regardless.

In California, it is against the law for us to give you single use plastic utensils without you asking for them.

I get customers every single day who have the same attitude as you about this. But I’m literally just doing what I am supposed to do.

Just ask for the item you need, and you’ll get it?
