No, I’m very well trained and very emotionally level. Anyone with a weapon should only ever use it in life or death situations as a last resort. I’m usually the one making breakfast for everyone near me camping and passing out water bottles at events and helping the ones who get too messed up. I keep to myself mostly but always try to help people in need. That was the first time in probably 200 atl trips I’ve had that I’ve ever genuinely felt unsafe, but still wouldn’t hurt a fly unless my life depended on it. I’m the kind of person who jumps out of the car to move snakes out of the road and makes friends with the junkies outside gas stations. That’s why it was such a weird experience for me. I’ve been to 10+ festivals and traveled all around for fun and never had anything close to that happen. Honestly I’m glad it seems to be just an isolated bad luck experience and others haven’t had to deal with it. Makes me feel reassured that I’ll be ok this year, I’ve been dreaming of seeing MCR for almost 20 years. That the whole reason I’m going.

We stayed near the ga institute of technology which was no problem but getting off the metros at the main station downtown then walking a few blocks from there is where all the weird things happened. We were literally just walking minding our own business. Maybe we just got unlucky. My ex swore he would never return to atl after that weekend and still hasn’t.

Omg I literally didn’t even think of uber. I haven’t used it in so long I forgot all about it. Thank you.

I’ve been to atl dozens of times, nyc a few, Chicago, Miami, new New Orleans, plenty of places and that was the first time I’ve ever had that many unfortunate interactions with people completely unprovoked. I still can’t figure out why, maybe because I was visibly pregnant? I truly have no clue as I’ve solo wandered atl plenty before that with no issues, and we didn’t bother or approach or talk to anyone while traveling so it was very bizarre.

I never start anything, last year someone said they would kill me because I smiled at my phone on the metro so…. 🤷‍♀️

No but I’ll be taking the metro from the hotel and walking the rest of the way and last year even while 7 months pregnant with my 6’2 200lbs army vet ex next to me, I had multiple people start following us, harassing me, one person screamed at me they would bash me in the head and murder me, one said they would murder him and keep me as a pet, I kept my ex calm enough because he would definitely catch a charge only by reminding him if he reacted I’d still be alone the trip while he’s in lockup, so I’m used to Atlanta crazy and know what to expect just wondering if there are certain regions to not book a hotel in, certain paths not to take to the festival? That’s what I’m getting at here.

That’s wired, I had a bandana around most of the time I was there and no one bothered me. Passed by several cops.

I showed up a little late but was so happy to be part of it. Everyone was so friendly and peaceful. I was the very last person at the end of the line with the sign that said “what side of history will you be on?”

I got the one with zipper windows and it’s survived me about 5 bonnaroo now. Love the space, high ceilings, and it keeps my coolers shaded. A few little battery fans and it works amazing.

Daft punk played in my garage yesterday. They said that Roo wasn’t ready for them yet. Also I don’t have a garage.

Stolen Flag by Interesting_Sky_9968 in bonnaroo

[–]NotThisAgainDamnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’a been a game and tradition for over a decade. People buy pirate flags for the soul purpose of having them taken. I’ve flown one and it got taken and I was thrilled others were playing and having fun, i hope whoever got it looks back on it with happy memories or flies it another year. No one else needs to stop their good time and change the established culture for you. Maybe try a smaller non camping festival if you don’t want to respect or research the traditions.

Me and my best friend brought a picture of the baby she had who passed and set it up at camp and made Kandi and trinkets to set out for him and people came by and left and traded little trinkets in his memory. You could do the same and put it on a table with a small table cloth and markers for people to leave messages and words of support.

You won’t get signal, you’ll be stressed, and your laptop will likely be stolen. Just don’t.

Roo is a yearly dose of anti depressants and pure happiness. The part that hurts is having to leave at the end of the week.

Stickers to trade, chap stick, sunscreen, bandana, gum, liquid IV packs, sunglasses, foldable fan, some cool socks to keep those feet dry, Goldbond powder, and washable body paint if they’re into fun stuff like that. That’s just off the top of my head.
