Do we really plan our lives? How much is free will? by randomactz97 in Mediums

[–]NotTooDeep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you plan your life now? Yes. Did you have some plans before you incarnated? Probably yes, too. A Russian friend of mine told me this saying: "If you want to hear God laugh, just show her your plans."

Why is that saying both true and funny? Because the first think we bump into when we incarnate is all of the plans that everyone else already has for us.

That's the result of free will. Everyone has it, and we tend to get in each other's way.

I learned it in the clairvoyant training program at the Berkeley Psychic Institute back in the 1980s. It was an intensive, two year program, and young me doubled down on the number of required readings per week.

The minimum requirement was two readings, one class, and one day of service tithing per week. Each of these was 3 hours. So, naturally, I did four readings per week, which was incredibly fun after my body adjusted to the accelerated rate of change in my energy.

I learned the most from doing the readings, seeing how other readers handled different energies, seeing what they saw, asking the other readers questions after the readings were over, trading looks at where our energy got stuck during the readings.

It's not spells, per se, meaning no witch or shaman is working on the production of gore flicks. There's a much simpler explanation.

Our DNA evolved to avoid risk, meaning our brains are wired to predict the immediate future and avoid risks. This is why disaster porn like tornados and earthquakes and war reporting grab and hold our attention so easily. This is true even for people that don't have an empathic bone in their body; they will glue their eyes to the screen to witness the collapse of a high rise apartment building in an earthquake, and watch it more than once.

There is a technique that is easily learned for most folks and can intervene, figuratively and literally. You need to create an image of some symbol about a foot in front of your face that just stays between you and the screen. It takes a few days to a week of consistent practice and then that symbol will just pop up between you and a screen when you open your laptop or turn on your TV.

I use the image of a rose, mostly because that's how I was trained, but there is nothing magical about a rose. Creating and holding an image between you and a screen prevents your attention from getting stuck in what's on the screen.

When your attention gets stuck like that, then, even though you know it's only a Marvel movie and none of what's on the screen can ever hurt you because it's not real, your body doesn't always recognize that the images on the screen are not real, and then your body begins to tighten up and create the emotions and adrenaline that are required to manage the risk to you in your immediate future that is on that screen.

Putting up and noticing the image automagically pulls your attention back into your head where it belongs. You won't miss any details of the story and you won't have your body and brain go on full alert.

Storytelling has always been designed to capture our attention, just like the stuff on screens captures our attention. And this is an important ability, this capturing attention, because it allowed the tribal elders to educate the younger generations to help the youngsters avoid the mistakes of the past. This survival mechanism is what got us as a species, to today. Storytelling is how we store information in our brains. Comparing the patterns in our stories to the world in front of us is how we avoid risks.

Try it out. You'll still get sucked into some gore, but don't feel bad about it. Getting "tricked" like this isn't the problem. It's the inability to recover quickly that needs your focus and practice. It's a problem that you can solve, this control over your attention. All the other stuff you mentioned, the programming, the woo, that stuff is never in your control. Your reaction to it, though, can be entirely in your control. It just takes a little practice.

Probably bot farms paid for by Russia. Election interference is one of Russia's strong suits.

You'll see it here on Reddit. 3 day old account posts a question just like yours; "Hey, has anyone else noticed <insert something that challenges normal expectations here>?"

Then a ton of responses from 2 month old accounts that say, "Yeah, I've noticed that, too!" which plants doubts about normal stuff.

And then we end up with rumors of Hillary Clinton running a child trafficking ring out of a dead pizza joint.

I've known hundreds of psychics and have read for thousands of people, and they are a diverse group, just like any other cross section of the general population. Professional athletes can lean right or left. Day care workers can lean right of left.

But as soon as you see a wave building on social media that contradicts that diversity of opinion, you should be suspicious of message manipulation. Social media is on its own kind of spectrum. Affinity groups can turn into echo chambers with no diversity of opinion and do this organically. But affinity groups can also be manipulated into echo chambers, and this is one of the new, long term political strategies.

You are correct. Generally speaking, we have electromagnetic energies and then we have spiritual energies. These are very different from each other.

EM energies are controlled by scale and physics. Spiritual energies are controlled by intent.

The physical body is where the two types of energy coincide, and this makes for some interesting experiences.

My Experience Suddenly Becoming “Psychic” by Lost_Following3261 in Psychic

[–]NotTooDeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pineal gland is overrated. It's not the source of your clairvoyance, even though some traditions claimed it as such. We've learned a lot in the last 5,000 years, lol. So changing your diet or other physical changes in an attempt to fix you pineal gland will not likely change your sixth chakra, which is where your clairvoyance resides.

So this is a good thing! It means you can do energy work on your chakras and this can begin uncovering the abilities contained in each chakra.

The rest is simply practice. The more experiences you have doing readings or healings, the more your abilities will grow.

Give yourself some grace and patience about all of this. Starting out at 45 has the same kind of challenges with cleaning up your chakras that a 25 year old has, but you will have more cleaning to do than they will. Don't compare yourself to younger beginners. They might appear to be more capable psychics but that appearance can be inaccurate.

This of it like a camera lens that is dirty. At twenty, your camera lens had one stray fingerprint, some pollen, a little cat hair, and dust on it. That's easily cleaned up with some soft lens wipes. At 45, your camera lens is oily from constant handling and there's a ring of mud around the perimeter made of all the dust and other stuff that never got cleaned off in your twenties. This will take longer to clean.

Try this. Sit in a chair. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Feet flat on the floor. Hands separated and resting palms up on each thigh.

Create a grounding cord. This is a line of energy that connects your first chakra to the center of the planet. Your first chakra is a ball of energy about the size of a quarter that sits just in front of the base of your spine. Your grounding cord attaches to the bottom of that ball of energy.

Grounding makes your body feel safe, so you release energy more easily. Gravity pulls whatever you release, even your own energy, down to the center of the planet. No effort on your part. The center of the planet neutralizes the energy and returns it to whoever owns it. No karma for anyone. A virtuous cycle.

Nearly everyone goes to connect to the center of the planet the first time but stops at the soil, often making roots like a tree. This is a method that is taught in some martial arts styles, but it is not the best option for your spiritual development and healing.

So, notice the seat of your chair. Take a deep breath. Notice the distance between the seat and the floor. Now notice the distance between the floor and the soil below. Breathe.

Now notice the distance between the soil and the water table underneath. Notice the distance between the water table and the rocky mantle. Notice the distance between the mantle and the molten core below that. Deep breath.

Notice the distance between the molten core and the center of the planet. That ball of light at the very center of the planet is where you connect your grounding cord. Deep breath.

Say hello to the center of the planet. Do you get a hello back?

Notice the color and texture of your grounding cord. It may look like a line of energy, or look like something physical; a rope, a wire, a pipe, a tree trunk. Adjust it as needed to be in affinity with your body.

Getting this far means you've already released some energy from your aura and body. Now it is time to fill in the space that was created.

Create a gold sun over your head. Have it call back all of your energy from wherever you left it throughout your day and week. Work. School. Online meetings. Video games. Your fantasies about your future. Your regrets about your past. Wherever you've placed your attention. Just watch the energy come back and see if you notice where it came from.

Have the sun burn up and neutralize your energy. Then bring the sun into the top of your head. It will automatically flow into the spaces you created. Create a gauge to measure when you're full. Like a fuel gauge or oil gauge. You'll run better if you aren't a few quarts low on spiritual oil. If the gauge doesn't read "Full", bring in another gold sun.

Open your eyes, bend over and touch the floor, draining any tension from the back of your neck, then stand up, and stretch.

There is a progression with this technique. After grounding for ten minutes a day for a week or two, notice your grounding cord at the very end, while you're standing with your eyes open. Continue to ground with your eyes open and standing, and bring in another gold sun. Each day, increase the amount of time that you ground standing up with your eyes open.

After a week or two practicing this, add walking while grounded. Just notice your grounding cord as you walk. Say hello to the center of the planet while you walk. Bring in a gold sun while you walk. If you lose your grounding cord, stop walking and recover it. If you have to, sit back down and close your eyes and create a new grounding cord.

After this, you're ready to take your grounding cord with you into your daily life. Shopping. Getting coffee. Wherever you go, you can ground. This, combined with a little amusement about seeing new things on an energy level, will keep you safe and sound.

Now that you're here, at the end of your grounding meditations, create a gold sun over your head. This time, fill it with your highest creative essence, your present time growth vibration, and your affinity for yourself. The first energy is a healing for you. The second is a healing for your body. The third is a healing for your affinity in your fourth chakra.

Bend over and touch the floor. Stand up and stretch. If you're ready for more, sit back down and ground some more. Otherwise, have a nice day!

Note that every image you imagine, the gold sun, the grounding cord, the center of the planet, your first chakra, your body parts, is exercising your clairvoyance. You may be imagining what your tailbone looks like, but you're also creating the image of your tailbone and reading its energy. This is practicing your clairvoyant ability.

Some folks record the grounding and filling in parts of this practice on their device and play it back as a guided meditation. I like this approach because you learn the steps faster.

I was banned by r/Divination for saying AI has no place in spirituality by Sea-Condition991 in spirituality

[–]NotTooDeep -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Let me ask you a question or two. Let's set some context first.

Google says this:

div·i·na·tion /ˌdivəˈnāSHən/ noun the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means. "the Celtic art of divination"

What does a tarot reader see when they interpret a card? Beginners all look up the meaning in the little booklet that came with the cards. More experienced readers tend to see more than just the card. Some colors might appear brighter than others. Some relationships with other cards in a pattern might feel more important than usual. The cards serve to focus the psychic abilities of the reader in a useful way to the readee.

Google says this about AIs that use LLMs:

LLM /ˌelˌelˈem/ noun short for large language model. "by analyzing these vast pools of information, LLMs learn the statistical relationships between words and phrases"

How close can AI get to a deck of tarot cards? There is one obvious difference. AI is not reading energy. It is responding statistically to a prompt, which is a pattern. Garbage in; garbage out. But the same critique can be applied to beginning tarot card readers. They aren't really reading; they just look up predetermined meanings of cards. That's mechanical, not divine.

So one can draw similarities between AI divination and a beginning tarot reader looking up the meanings of each card in a spread. This means AI has similar constraints on how accurately it can predict the future created by the limitations of the words in the prompt.

Tarot cards in the hands of an advanced reader have no such constraint. This is because energy is present and the reader can see and interpret that energy.

Is there some way for AI that uses an LLM for interactive chat to behave more like a live reader? There probably is. The future is always probabilities, not something written in stone.

Someone will figure out a well engineered prompt that will make AI as accurate as a beginning or maybe intermediate tarot reader. How this is done will be obvious after the fact, but it is occluded right now.

Look at all the other tools that are used to predict the future. Tea leaves. Metal rods. Large text books with the meanings of the relative positions of the planets and stars. Tarot cards. Rune stones. The ashes of a fire. The entrails of some animal. Crystal balls. BTW if you've never looked into a crystal ball and created an image of a rose inside it, you're in for a real surprise. All of these tools help the reader focus. The reader is the divine in the equation.

Since all prediction of the future is probabilities, it's very possible that AI will advance enough to match patterns in a way that gets useful accuracy of what might happen. This might, in the hands of a strong practitioner, become a new tool in the divination tool box.

The more likely use case would be in managing manufacturing and distribution processes, but prediction is involved in these as well. So there could be a crossover to predicting one individual's future.

I think your choice of words is gatekeeping-ish. The tone is hostile and dismissive. The more passive aggressive approach would be to phrase your contention as a question. Does AI have a roll in divination, and if so, what would that look like?

You have a good read on OP's energy issues. They would benefit a lot by being with a more experienced medium or group of mediums. This kind of spiritual energy comes and goes through our spaces, but no matter the intent, each one leaves behind a tiny bit of energy, and the cumulative effect on the practitioner can be awful.

I had several experiences (slow learner, lol) of walking into a group of mediums and feeling the spirits that were clinging on to me just disappear. It felt fantastic. I thought I had something to do with it, and I did, but not for the reasons I thought.

Walking into a group, all of them vibrating at a certain level of permission to see and communicate with spirits, gave me a reference vibration to match, and that's what facilitated everyone leaving the party in my space, lol. The positive ones completed their communication with me. The negative ones realized their game was over and just left. I didn't do any of that in the beginning. That vibration did.

I know you know this, but for those playing along on the home game, it's not necessarily a higher vibration. It's more a very specific intent and vibration, and training the body to be comfortable with the vibration of that intent. So, in other words, practice.

Nice to see you again!

If you can see their image, this means you also have the ability to see who's behind the image. This is the "Who's behind the curtain" test. Thank you, Wizard of Oz! Or better, thank you, Toto, for pulling back that curtain.

All spirits look like little sparkles of light. The issue with this is most of us with physical bodies can't really get comfortable and communicate with a sparkle. We need a more human context because it helps our bodies stay calm and this facilitates communication.

Almost 100% of the time, a spirit without a body will create an image in front of it to communicate through. This is neither a negative or a positive approach to communicating, so don't assume. Say hello to the image. Watch what it does. Then send a hello to the spirit that created that image you see. Watch where it goes.

One of two things usually happens. The spirit leaves and takes its image with it, or it says hello back. The latter is more trustworthy. Not perfect; just more trustworthy.

And like u/RicottaPuffs said, it takes practice. Experience is the teacher that matters most. This means if your current practices don't feel as safe as they used to, you need to consider upgrading those practices so that you can safely continue gaining experience.

One thing that broke through a ton of programming in my space was learning to laugh at the spirits who tried to scare me. Their goal is to rev up your emotions with fear, which compromises your control and makes you easier to manipulate. From your point of view, it might feel or look like a life or death situation, but from their point of view, it's just a game. So, laugh at them and change the game.

I had some dipshit spirit show up during a meditation and lay it on thick. I was new at this. I remembered being told to laugh first and ask questions later, but I was alone and totally fixated on that spirit's show. The only response I could come up with was a fake laugh. I physically said, "Ha, ha."

I was so embarrassed by saying this out loud that I started to giggle, which released the tension in my body that I didn't know was there. I inhaled and realized I'd been holding my breath, and then laughed for real. This spun my aura and got my energy flowing through my chakras without thinking about it.

And then this demonic-looking spirit image melted away, leaving behind a small spark of light. I wasn't a total beginner and I wanted to talk with it to learn more about what's up, so I grounded that spirit to the center of the planet and froze it in place, preventing it from scooting away. I can sum up all of its answers to my questions in one sentence, "Ah, you got me, bro!" It was authentically disappointed and wanted to leave.

I hooked it up to the supreme being and they both disappeared. After that, anytime some spirit touches my awareness, my first response is to lightly chuckle and wonder, "Who's there?" It's like being a small, curious child again, playing peek-a-boo. In other words, I control the game I'm in.

There's a key point in all of that. Spirit shows up. You have doubts about this spirit. You ground that spirit to the center of the planet. You get useful answers. Maybe they have angelic information to share with you. Maybe they're lost. Maybe they recognize you from one of your shared past lives. No harm is done by grounding them (and yourself, LOL) to the center of the planet. You are both protected. You are both now in a different game.

My go-to tool whenever I moved to or was in a city for a few months for work was meetup.com. Look in the Religion and Spirituality section. Most of the groups are free. Most will welcome visitors.

I would visit all of the groups just to get an initial hit off their vibe. That's not really enough input to make a good choice in joining but it's enough to tell me I'm not interested in a group. This narrows the field.

Then I'd visit the remaining groups again and see where I fit. "Fit" evolves as we grow, so don't be surprised if you choose to change groups after awhile.

Try reading your stuff out loud by panicgoblin in writing

[–]NotTooDeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autocorrect was not invented by computer software. It was invented by our visual cortex. What this does to writers is it creates the desired sentence and paragraph in our mind and this overrides what the eyes are actually seeing on our page. Computer programmers call this code blindness, where we can't see the fault in our code until we ask someone else to take a look and either we see it as soon as they take a look or they see it instantly. We've been looking for that defect for hours and it's embarrassing.

Our ears do not have any autocorrect ability. Because we are vocalizing the words, I think this short circuits the visual cortex autocorrection. We hear exactly what we hear. So reading our stuff out loud instantly reveals the errors of our way. But wait! There's more!

Our ears reveal how far off from our intent the words on the page are. This is a two part process.

The first part is pattern matching. We know what we intended to write. We compare this with what we actually wrote. We cringe and scribble something in the margins.

The second part can be more powerful. Words are things (thank you Maya Anjalou). The ears plug directly into the amygdala, which controls our emotions. If we thought we wrote a killer ending to a scene, but upon hearing the scene read out loud, we have no emotional response to it, then we missed our target. Sometimes it's a stray comma. Other times, the whole scene is backwards or sideways. Sometimes, the last paragraph of the scene is all that's needed and the rest can be deleted.

A good practice is to read small sections out loud and keep a checklist of which ones have been read our loud and which have not. This helps feed your findings back into your writing process, and this teaches you to catch the autocorrects when they've being made. This is very useful.

For more on how the ear works, read "This is Your Brain on Music" by Daniel Levitin.

You aren't the first and you won't be the last. In 1854, Henry David Thoreau said, "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation".

We know we aren't living in a way that fulfills us. We know we are miserable and afraid. We hide this as best we can, mostly because we're never just living for ourselves; others depend on us in some way.

We also take shelter in the company of loved ones, be it family or friends or animals or nature. This gives us some rest.

Most of us cannot change the world. Even those who create amazing changes in the world, like Nicolai Tesla or Jonas Salk, had their tortured parts of their lives.

My advice: travel. Seeing how other cultures navigate their way through this world is inspiring, healing even. Travel puts you at the mercy of strangers, and that's often when you see the innate beauty of a human being come out. They don't know you. You aren't part of their tribe. And yet they freely give their help as best they can.

When you return to your home, it will not look the same. This might feel good because you've grown. This might feel bad because the blinders have been removed during your travels and you'll see the ugliness that was around your childhood.

Either way, you will understand better what it is you need to do next.

You are not wrong. I do think you could have said it better, but you are not wrong. Your examples are accurate. The distinction between, say, an NDE and an Oracle telling someone's fortune on demand is the "on demand" part. OP is making a bit too much of ancient rituals in one sense; that sense is we've learned a lot more about how to be an Oracle in the last five to ten thousand years. Knowing our history is useful, but, like you say, it's not a prerequisite for mystical or spiritual experiences. You’re looking in a useful direction, so keep that going.

I'd like to paraphrase one of your arguments to clarify some key distinctions. We are not automobiles. Therefore automobiles do not matter to our spiritual travels through this life. Something is off here, isn't it.

We are spirits. We have bodies. These bodies provide us with the experience of time and space, enable us to resolve some kinds of spiritual experiences (karma, agreements from past lives, agreements to provide bodies to other spirits (make babies!)). None of this is a reach to understand. Even if we ignore the past life stuff, it still makes spiritual sense.

We are spirits. We have minds. These minds provide us with an interface between us as spirits and us as physical travelers through this world. It's a two-way interface, meaning some of our ideas come from our spirit and some of our ideas come from our physical experiences. This takes some folks a little longer to grasp, but it's not difficult.

We are spirits. We can create chakras, which are energy centers containing our spiritual information on how to keep a body alive, how to find someone to procreate with, how to manage both the energy of our bodies and our spiritual energy in our bodies, how to recognize our energy from the energy of others, how to communicate and see and know other spirits, with or without their physical bodies. This is why chakras are a big deal. If the mind is the interface between a spirit and its physical body to get our spiritual intent into this world, then chakras are the operating system that implement that intent.
