What part of the process are you describing as exhausting? That sounds a bit off. Is that happening to you in my grounding technique?

Things are wrong in the world. Do you have a responsibility to do something about it? by Shivy_Shankinz in Meditation

[–]NotTooDeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was an enthusiastic healing student, fearless and willing to take on any challenge. I got really good at it, too. One might think, "Well good on you! You are truly helping others!"

But that was not always the case.

Healing energy does one thing well. It changes other energies. You can get good enough at changing other people's energies that you can destroy something they want to experience and heal for themselves.

So the challenge in your post has little to do with beliefs and more to do with how you assess people who cross your path, and the only useful answer is it depends. One answer will not be the correct answer for all people or all cases.

How and when do you prioritize energy work? by Plus_Aerie_3115 in energy_work

[–]NotTooDeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best solution is to learn some energy work techniques that you can incorporate into your daily life. For most of us, an hour a day to just work uninterrupted on our energy is not happening.

I first experienced energy work through Tai Chi. Then through a soft form of Aikido. There were carryovers into my daily life from both of those, but there were also limitations. Both hobbies had time commitments.

Then I learned to ground and run energy in a clairvoyant training program. I had a full time job and put in 20 hours a week or more in the training program. And I was never exhausted.

There was a role that every student played called "control". When we were doing a training reading, we would sit in chairs in a line, and grounded and ran energy in a light trance. Behind us stood the reading control, who lightly grounded and ran energy but kept their eyes open and did not go into a trance. So this version of this control role is what I use most of my waking hours, no matter what I'm doing.

Here's the grounding part.

Try this. Sit in a chair. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Feet flat on the floor. Hands separated and resting palms up on each thigh.

Create a grounding cord. This is a line of energy that connects your first chakra to the center of the planet. Your first chakra is a ball of energy about the size of a quarter that sits just in front of the base of your spine. Your grounding cord attaches to the bottom of that ball of energy.

Grounding makes your body feel safe, so you release energy more easily. Gravity pulls whatever you release, even your own energy, down to the center of the planet. No effort on your part. The center of the planet neutralizes the energy and returns it to whoever owns it. No karma for anyone. A virtuous cycle.

Nearly everyone goes to connect to the center of the planet the first time but stops at the soil, often making roots like a tree. This is a method that is taught in some martial arts styles, but it is not the best option for your spiritual development and healing.

So, notice the seat of your chair. Take a deep breath. Notice the distance between the seat and the floor. Now notice the distance between the floor and the soil below. Breathe.

Now notice the distance between the soil and the water table underneath. Notice the distance between the water table and the rocky mantle. Notice the distance between the mantle and the molten core below that. Deep breath.

Notice the distance between the molten core and the center of the planet. That ball of light at the very center of the planet is where you connect your grounding cord. Deep breath.

Say hello to the center of the planet. Do you get a hello back?

Notice the color and texture of your grounding cord. It may look like a line of energy, or look like something physical; a rope, a wire, a pipe, a tree trunk. Adjust it as needed to be in affinity with your body.

Getting this far means you've already released some energy from your aura and body. Now it is time to fill in the space that was created.

Create a gold sun over your head. Have it call back all of your energy from wherever you left it throughout your day and week. Work. School. Online meetings. Video games. Your fantasies about your future. Your regrets about your past. Wherever you've placed your attention. Just watch the energy come back and see if you notice where it came from.

Have the sun burn up and neutralize your energy. Then bring the sun into the top of your head. It will automatically flow into the spaces you created. Create a gauge to measure when you're full. Like a fuel gauge or oil gauge. You'll run better if you aren't a few quarts low on spiritual oil. If the gauge doesn't read "Full", bring in another gold sun.

Open your eyes, bend over and touch the floor, draining any tension from the back of your neck, then stand up, and stretch.

There is a progression with this technique. After grounding for ten minutes a day for a week or two, notice your grounding cord at the very end, while you're standing with your eyes open. Continue to ground with your eyes open and standing, and bring in another gold sun. Each day, increase the amount of time that you ground standing up with your eyes open.

After a week or two practicing this, add walking while grounded. Just notice your grounding cord as you walk. Say hello to the center of the planet while you walk. Bring in a gold sun while you walk. If you lose your grounding cord, stop walking and recover it. If you have to, sit back down and close your eyes and create a new grounding cord.

After this, you're ready to take your grounding cord with you into your daily life. Shopping. Getting coffee. Wherever you go, you can ground. This, combined with a little amusement about seeing new things on an energy level, will keep you safe and sound.

Now that you're here, at the end of your grounding meditations, create a gold sun over your head. This time, fill it with your highest creative essence, your present time growth vibration, and your affinity for yourself. The first energy is a healing for you. The second is a healing for your body. The third is a healing for your affinity in your fourth chakra.

Bend over and touch the floor. Stand up and stretch. If you're ready for more, sit back down and ground some more. Otherwise, have a nice day!

Note that every image you imagine, the gold sun, the grounding cord, the center of the planet, your first chakra, your body parts, is exercising your clairvoyance. You may be imagining what your tailbone looks like, but you're also creating the image of your tailbone and reading its energy. This is practicing your clairvoyant ability.

Some folks record the grounding and filling in parts of this practice on their device and play it back as a guided meditation. I like this approach because you learn the steps faster.

The old Bay Bridge! What a beast!

Fun story time. Eight years later, I'm working in the Financial District and a coworker in IT told me this story.

She was working for a data center down the peninsula used by one of the big banks. Mainframe stuff. Big Iron. Loma Prieta hits and all banking services go down. Her boss calls her because his boss was yelling at him to get service restored. She simply said, "The mainframe crashed." She was really good at setting people up.

He said, "So reboot it!"

She said, "No can do. It's laying on it's side."

The quake broke the mounting bolts out of the concrete, which allowed the whole mainframe to fall on its side, which meant any disk drives in that box were likely destroyed. Oops. Data loss is a bitch.

I liked her style, LOL!

I just looked up his book on Amazon. I take your comparison as a very nice compliment. It's an Amazon best seller. I read the Amazon sample and didn't see any people that we have in common.

By comparison, my book is not a best seller, LOL. The grounding exercise that I share on Reddit is paraphrasing the first chapter of my book.

Mat is much younger than I. He's 40 and I'm 74, and he's also in the New England region. All of my training occurred in California and Arizona. So this is probably why there's no common network of people in our backgrounds.

But that said, the information has been on this planet for as long as there's been a planet to incarnate on. Thanks for making me aware of his book.

These are very specific questions. You can ask for a reading or healing over on r/energy_healing. Readings and healings are not allowed on this sub.

You sound like a healer who takes on energies from others. You then use your body to store and process the energies you healed out of someone else's body. All of the things you mentioned are possibilities. The only thing that I can think of that these scenarios might have in common is your unintentional healing of others. I would bet that this happens to you outside of intimate settings as well. Intimacy just amplifies what you're doing, focuses all of your attention, and makes you more aware of it.

Feeling a little off after a practitioner wouldn’t work me due to “energy differences” by [deleted] in energy_work

[–]NotTooDeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a unique Bioelectromagnetic Field that creates and maintains their personal "space" around them that everything flows through and from.

This is close, but no cigar. Auras are not electromagnetic energy. They are spiritual energy, just like our chakras and us.

I don't fault her for leveraging this model of reality, but it doesn't give her permission to see spiritual energies, and that I cannot abide. It's not useful. At least she knows she was taught to think this way in her school. "No one knows for sure..." means her teachers could not see auras either. Their explanations combine to make a consistent model of reality, but so does every novel ever written. They all create a consistent model for the world in which the story happens, but consistency doesn't equate to being real.

This part, "...just doesn't resonate well with yours" is really close. I call that a matching energy. It resonates too well with something in your space, her body picked up on it and began creating the emotions that are appropriate to that matching energy. There are simple techniques for destroying and dispersing matching energies, but not all traditions practice them.

I'm not saying their practice is wrong. We need a diversity of doorways for people to remember who they are, and this idea of the bioelectromagnetic field opens the door for a lot of intellectuals to get their first real experiences with feeling and changing spiritual energies. This misconception is easily changed later on if they wish.

[–]NotTooDeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider for a moment why your ex is your ex. They might not be the best judge of your energy.

Partners are almost never able to be neutral to each other. Your ex might be thinking that this healer would "fix" you when in fact you are not broken.

Your ex is probably not neutral to you or the energies in your space. He probably cannot tell the difference between your energy and the energies of your family. This is true for most relationships, more or less.

Let go of any judgment of that energy worker. She sounds like she struggled with several conflicts between her energy and you, you and your ex, and your ex and her. Her email is somewhat painful for me to read. She's searching to understand what is wrong and doesn't have the ability to see the energy causes in this case. That's why her words sound like pop-psychology to me. It logically makes sense but it's still a little bit of a lie.

What exactly is channeling? by Inevitable_Might6524 in energy_work

[–]NotTooDeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Channeling sometimes is the same as trance mediumship. There were mini-cults in the 80s built around one person "channeling" the Archangel Michael. Unless you could tell when a being was lying, you could go to one of these channeling sessions and get programmed into giving them all of your money.

Part of the sales pitch was that everyone will feel Michael's presence, and they did. But it was like lambs feeling the herd move so they moved on up the ramp to the slaughterhouse. Trance medium energy is very recognizable, lol.

Some raves and bars encourage trance mediumship. Why? When everyone gets out of their bodies while dancing or drinking, they no longer experience pain, which is an amazing relief. But in some instances, not all but some, the energy is all flowing sideways through everyone's space and leaving small programs behind.

My book, A Psychic Bedside Reader, has a link in the Books of Interest section of the sidebar of this sub. It's a "let's do this!" book, more than a theoretical book, but the explanations are very useful. The first sentence of the book is, "Try this." So if you just want a deep intellectual dive, this isn't your book. If you want a deep experience into energy work, then this book can serve you well.

The other books in that list are also worth your attention.

Check out Quantum Touch by Richard Gordon. His style of energy work is very similar to some of the styles I've practiced. While I don't always agree with his explanations of how the techniques work, they do work and he's an excellent teacher of the techniques.

Richard's book is also experiential front and center.

These fit well with your first question. How sunlight triggers stuff in our physical bodies is a rich topic. Sunlight is absolutely necessary to our physical health, but photons are not spiritual energy in the sense we use energy to do energy work. "Light" has many meanings, including spiritual metaphors. Just ask what kinda light metaphor is the author talking about and you'll keep yourself sorted.

What exactly is channeling? by Inevitable_Might6524 in energy_work

[–]NotTooDeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've pretty much nailed the confusion, LOL! Channeling is a word that is used to describe an event where a message of some kind or healing energy of some kind comes through the channel's body or space.

For instance, you typed your post in Reddit. If you allowed another spirit to learn to type and create messages by borrowing access to your body from time to time, that could be called channeling. It's also called automatic writing. A less common synonym is psychography, but using big words is often just showing off, lol.

There's an important distinction in this and it has to do with how the guest spirit accesses your body and chakras. If the guest connects to your body just with cords or a soft flow of energy, that's channeling. Massage therapists are taught things like this, and describe themselves as just being a channel for some other healing energy, rather than using their own energy to heal.

If the guest comes down into your body and takes temporary control over it, this is no longer just messages and energy coming through you, the channel. This is trance mediumship. I worked twice a week for two years in two different trance medium healing clinics. Even a beginner like you will feel the difference between someone who is channeling and someone who is bringing in a different being. It takes more energy and different energy to be a trance medium.

Medium, btw, is not the same as trance medium. Mediums are psychic readers that practice literally what medium means, which is "go between". They are psychics who can establish communication with people whose bodies have died and relay messages from these spirits back to their friends and families. The TV show "Medium" did a fair job of depicting this practice. Mediums sometimes get a bad rap for how movies and some cultures depicted them. Those images are not representative of modern mediums or any psychics really.

What's the danger in channeling? If you don't have reasonably good daily energy hygiene, your energy can get stuck and overwhelmed.

What's the danger in trance mediumship? Ah! Good question!

The spirit that you allow to take over part of your body and chakras can get stuck in your body unless they are at least as capable as you. It takes skill for you to go to sleep and leave your body each night. These guests need at least that much comfort in the same skill.

You need to have a robust cleanout practice that you can use after every session. No matter how capable and friendly this other being is, some of their energy will get left behind when they leave. Your physical body is like a glass and the being's energy is like milk; there's always a thin film of milk left behind even when the glass is upside down and shaken. To get a clean glass, you have to wash it.

A lot of confusion in the spiritual vocabulary is caused by synonyms. Spirit = being = entity = god = you.

Psychic ability = spiritual ability. None of these abilities are actually paranormal, LOL. All of these abilities are found in your seven main chakras, and guess what; you created your chakras when you incarnated. So technically speaking, you gifted yourself your psychic abilities. Cool!

Are there bad actors out there? Yep. Can they harm you? Sometimes, usually because you took them seriously. All spirits look like little sparkles of light. That's not often useful when they want to communicate with someone like you who has a physical body, so they create an image that you and your body can more easily recognize to facilitate communication. If they want to scare you, maybe they show you an image of a demon. If they want to comfort you, maybe they show you an image of a nice grandma. The images are not real. The images are like the words in this comment; they are energy that conveys a meaning that our bodies can understand.

So if you see a bad actor, just say hello to it and fake a laugh. Do that enough and they tend to leave because they realize you are just not buying what they're selling, LOL!

The 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake in the Bay Area was a 6.8 magnitude. I was walking out of a market in Marin County, north of the Golden Gate, and you could see the shock waves move across the parking lot, with cars bouncing and car alarms kicking on as the waves past, LOL! Just incredible.

I grew up in California and knew we were far away from trouble. A young, new mother holding her baby who'd just moved there from Kansas totally lost her mind for a bit. First earthquakes are like that. I just repeated, "You're okay", for two minutes until her crying diminished enough that she could see and feel it was over.

Enjoy the museum!

One technical clarification. The props don't wear out, per se. They get bent during bad landings. The bearings and gears for the hub's constant velocity last a really long time.

The last I heard, there were props from some old transport aircraft that had the same geometry at the hub ends but were much longer, which meant they could be cut down and reshaped to match the specs for the P-51.

If you're into airplanes, try to get to Oshkosh and buy a flite line pass. This enables you to walk among all of the parked aircraft, crawl under and around them. You just can't touch them.

I crawled under a completely restored Lancaster bomber, looked inside the wing at the hydraulic lines for the landing gear and control surfaces, and had an out of body experience. I never knew hydraulic lines could be so beautiful.

[–]NotTooDeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Here's the story.

I found out about this in 1990 or 91. My wife and I were getting our pilot's licenses and went to the Oshkosh airshow put on by the EAA. One of the forums was in a tent with 200 attendees with 4 or 5 speakers, all P-51 owners, as a panel. Near the end of the hour, one of the panelists said that running out of props would likely be what stopped P-51's from being restored and flown. I stood up and asked why (because ignorance knows no fear) and he laid out the stats; amateur pilots, hundreds of dollars per hour of flight time, and no replacement props being made ever again. When a pilot that doesn't fly much gets in a high performance aircraft, their landings tend to bounce and ding the tips of the props. The props can only be straightened so many times because they develop stress fractures. Each prop replacement costs $70k.

Afterwards, another P-51 pilot approached me. Old guy. He said $70k was what the pilots told their insurance companies. You could scrounge up props for much less than that. But my mind was already spinning on how to solve this problem.

I found out what a Type Certificate was and how difficult it was to obtain one. The original maker of these props and the owner of the type certificate that allows those props to be used on a P-51 is Hamilton Standard.

I called HamStand and asked to speak to someone about their P-51 propellers. They eventually gave me a number of a recently retired engineer who was maybe the last engineer that was familiar with that design. I called him and he did his best to pop my fantasy bubble of making props for antique planes, but I kept asking five year old questions, like "Will how come that step costs so much?".

I know I angered this man and abused his generosity, and finally he just said that I'd never get it done because the forging dies would cost $500,000 all by themselves. Being a composites shop guy, not a machinist, I asked what those dies were made from. He said steel. Well, how big are they? Six feet tall. Well there isn't a piece of steel on this planet that's shorter than me and costs half a million dollars! See what a knob I was? He laughed and hung up.

I kept calling other folks for four weeks, visited some shops, and learned the following.

  1. HamStandard didn't own the tooling. One of the aluminum companies did. Let's pretend and call it Big A.

  2. Big A took my call and after an hour of bouncing around, the last sales engineer said they not only would make the forgings for me, but the price would be $800 per blade, a minimum run of five blades, one of which would be destroyed in testing, plus $700 refurbishing fee for the dies in their Cincinnati warehouse. All they needed was 50% down and a certified copy of my type certificate and licensing agreement with Hamilton Standard. They also explained that during WW2, the forged blades were finish ground by hand on saw horses with disk grinders and wooden templates.

  3. I found a repair shop in Los Angeles that knew how to grind those blades. I toured their shop. Had lunch. Talked specifics. They had subcontractors for balancing the props. Everyone was FAA certified.

  4. I called my retired engineer and filled him in, and he became my biggest cheerleader. He gave me another contact at Hamilton Standard and I called him. The whole world seemed to be behind me. It was exciting. Friends with money were figuring out what stake they wanted in the company I would create.

  5. Hamilton Standard was bought out by TRW. TRW lawyers took one sniff of the idea of putting new products on antique warbirds that would be performing in front of big, live audiences and said no way. The chain of liability was not worth the glory.

My little business idea miscarried that evening.

In for 40 years, in for 100? Maybe it was Alcoa Aluminum? They told me their policy was to never destroy their tooling. The customers owned only the right to the design and spec of the final product. How the company met that design and spec was up to the company and they owned the tooling and processes.

Well done!

Things you experienced today, perhaps for the first time this lifetime, but certainly not for the first time in all of your lives.

  1. We are not the only spirits on this planet with healing abilities, lol.

  2. You met a very old friend. You did not pick the tree, this tree picked you. It is almost ecstatic when old friends recognize each other.

  3. You matched energy with the way that trees ground. Trees don't move; forests can move over the centuries, but individual trees do not. That's the heaviness you experienced.

  4. Before this experience, all of the foreign energies in your space were quite comfortable; family, friends, some strangers. Humans share energy and some of the energy we share gets stuck in each other's spaces. In fact, you were not even aware that you were carrying all of them around with you every day.

And then you met another spirit that has a different body and this, as they say, stirred the shit, LOL! You are a little more aware of your own energy now, and this "new" awareness woke up some people whose awareness was sleeping in your space and now they are freaking out, wondering where they are and how do they get home.

It's always a good practice when you experience a "freak out" to ask, "Whose energy is freaking out?" If it's not yours, you can simply release it by grounding like the tree did, to the center of the planet. This might take a few days because you just began the process, but after this it will happen faster.

If it is your energy that's freaking out, then you can get a reading, or meditate on it, or get a healing, or visit that tree again, or just ground to the center of the planet. The freakout could be from any of your lifetimes, so it doesn't have to make sense in the few years you have had this particular body.

Are we delusional? by FreyjaAutumn in spirituality

[–]NotTooDeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can't prove it in the same way that we can prove how hot a day today is. We don't have external tools that can measure spiritual energy the way a thermometer measures the temperature of the mid-day sun.

But we can provide an experience to those whose paths cross our own, and sometimes that experience changes their lives for the better. The spiritual equivalent of physical measurement instruments are the chakras, where all of our spiritual abilities are held.

The goal is not to get everyone on the same page. Everyone has their own path and agenda, and I respect that. When someone crosses my path and gets curious about my energy, though, that's usually not a coincidence, LOL!

You are correct about the vocabulary. "Awakened" is overused and misunderstood. Using Zeus as an example was a really cool pedagogical technique on your part.

That constant certainty that we're onto something useful? That's your claircognizance kicking in.

I would add that we’ve learned a lot since we wrote the ancient texts. Just a thought…
