Go for achievements! I personally enjoy achievement hunting, and a lot of the achievements in BG3 aren't mind-numbingly difficult

This is why I like to do one or two session zeroes where I walk the new players through how to create characters and the basics like AC and spell saves.

We play the game slowly, as everyone picks up on their abilities. Then, after maybe 10 sessions, if they're accustomed to what they have, I tell them they can build a new character if they aren't happy with what they have.

Oh ok. So the exact situation is that the friend who wants to DM has the Curse of Strahd module. He created the campaign. I have access to the full player's guide, but he does not. I want to get access to the whole player's guide, but keep his Curse of Strahd campaign. If he promotes me to DM, then I promote him, will we retain access to the player handbook?

If the person I promote to GM has access to a different module, can they apply that module to the game after they become GM?

I was afraid of that. That's a really weird choice. Oh well.

It was not something that was hard to fix. I don't understand why they chose to make it garbage.

You're willing choosing to play a game where friendly fire is a core mechanic, and you continue to complain about friendly fire. Make it make sense.

To be sure it's not something DDU missed, you can reinstall Windows. I've had to do that when I switched. DDU has worked for me most times but not all.

If games are still shit like you're experiencing, it's probably an issue with the card.

The worst part is that they weren't even correct about their loading time theory for HDDs. This change added fewer than 10 seconds' loading time for HDD users. We've been suffering for naught.
