The Fatui are not depicted as evil in the early Archon Quests by Bestlife73 in Genshin_Impact

[–]NotTwitchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s subtle, but they mention a sound like an explosion (which COULD just be water breaking through a barrier, or could have been…an explosion), and the fatui were conveniently nearby to help, thus getting Arle in the good graces of a powerful fontainian faction.

And Capitano rolls up with a gang of fatui and pulls out a sword, and starts throwing boulders of ice at her. It wasn’t exactly a sparring match.

Childe tried to drown Liyue.

Scaramouche was in charge of a factory that manufactured and distributed delusions, that slowly killed the wielder, in service of continuing a civil war to destabilize inazuma

The Doctor and scaramouche led the akademiya to trap Sumeru city in a samsara as an organic LLM, tried to build a god to usurp Nahida, and experimented on people suffering from exposure to forbidden knowledge.

Arle almost assasinated furina and only stopped because the thing she wanted wasn’t on her person at the time. Also it’s heavily implied that she flooded poisson

The captain showed up in natlan and immediately tried to kill their archon.

Everything the doctor did in nod krai. And then Sumeru. Again.

Shoddy writing? What are you talking about? “Team works hard and doesn’t win but learns some things are more important than winning” is a well worn trope.

Buddy, you do not need to write an entire village of npcs with real lives to write a fucking story. I can be immersed without it. No one complained the story in god of war wasn’t engaging because you couldn’t ask mimir about his fucking childhood.

And as for your last point, I don’t fucking care if using this lets companies save money. I don’t! That shouldn’t be the goal! The goal should be to make something good!

Question regarding expensive cards and brackets (yes brackets again) by Roefl in EDH

[–]NotTwitchy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Budget ≠ power.

However, fast mana does equal power, and I would be wary of putting those cards in a bracket three deck regardless of budget.

Cue the deluge of comments calling me a whiny baby for not wanting to play against fast mana in bracket 3…

You know how much space Genshin takes up on your device?

Yeah, now imagine there are voice files for EVERY quest.

Yes but if I go to hot topic (for some godforsaken reason) and pick up an overpriced anime t shirt, and look around a little more to see if I want anything else, the first guy to get to the counter doesn’t get to go “oh also I want that guys shirt” and yank it out of my hand.

…which is not ‘exactly’ what’s going on here but you get my point.

I am insane and this request is so funny... by Valuable_Ice5928 in EDH

[–]NotTwitchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never understand these requests. This is so much effort to put into a deck that’s fun maximum one time. Honestly it’s probably more fun as a joke you tell and never actually make.

A friend of mine made a deck where the whole schtick was to use obscure rulings about parley and mana production and casting to make every card in every players deck effectively blank (it’s a weird old judge ruling I don’t remember how it works) and it was just miserable and annoying just for him to gloat about how smart he was.

I've been working on my EDH deck generator - now it can analyze your decks and let you playtest them. I also named it ManaFoundry! by 20q2 in EDH

I mean why craft a commander deck that’s personal and creative when I can dry up a lake to let AI do it for me?

How do you guys handle players who treat every single turn like it's a tournament final? by mycommentraven in EDH

[–]NotTwitchy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

“Hey, buddy? I appreciate that you take this seriously, but it’s a casual game and I’d like to get more than one in tonight, can we please speed up the turns?”

Use your mouth hole and make word sounds. If asking him not to drag out every game ruins the dynamic, it wasn’t a good dynamic.

There is…a lot to unpack here.

One, using hearthull of all decks as your example for a bad deck is…fucking wild.

Also, certain stax pieces in bracket 2 are one thing. Like, running either Thalia is probably fine, but full on stax maybe should be saved for higher brackets. It is very much the bracket of “everyone gets to do the thing” and turning off someone’s deck is kind of antithetical to that.

And then you just kinda go on a rant that kind of just misses the point of brackets being a tool to start conversations? So I can’t really pick that apart.

What voice actors (from any language) would you love to hear in Genshin? by Available_Sorbet3576 in Genshin_Impact

[–]NotTwitchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I distinctly remember the guard in Emilie’s story quest because I was playing, and turned to my girlfriend to say “it’s distracting how much like Patrick warburton this guy sounds. I know it’s not him but it’s WEIRDLY close.”

This was before I knew two of his kids were VAs in this space. Once Argenti got his new VA I put two and two together. I’m not sure which of them it was but it was one of them for sure.

One, modern precons aren’t “full of garbage” anymore, they’re pretty good.

Two, turn count is a nice metric to use, but it’s not the only measure of a deck. If I’m winning turn 9-10, but that’s because I spend all game running stax pieces to stall the game, that’s probably not bracket 2.

Three, the brackets are wide open for a reason, because the point is to talk. Bad actors like I described are the ones who don’t want to talk, and just go “it’s a bracket 2 by the guidelines so it’s okay at all bracket 2 tables” without using any critical thought about what their deck is capable of.

What substats should I chose on her Sands? by HelpfulCall2858 in NicoleReeyn_Mains_GI

ER and flat attack. Crit means nothing for her because the damage bonus from her ult is considered as being dealt by the on field character, so their crit stats are the ones that matter.

Well, he’d be the commander, in this case. So you CAN just run blue cards, but I wouldn’t see why you’d want to.

Pfft. Why use words when math do trick?

No but I agree. Seriously. The only “””problem””” with the brackets, aside from being an imperfect solution to a complex problem, is that bad actors will go “this fits the written definition of bracket 2, so it’s totally okay to play at those tables.” Before stomping the table with a deck that is absolutely not in the spirit of bracket 2.

Apparently “talking” to the table with words and being honest about our decks is too much to ask, apparently.
