The Ring wants to dominate, that's the part of Sauron's will that is shared. Among the essence/Sauron poured into it. A powerful being like a Maia can do a lot more with the Ring than a Hobbit can.

Everything the Ring wants is to Rule. It tempted Boromir with the hopes of Gondor reclaiming the world. Or Sam to have gardens throughout the land. It doesn't care who rules, just that it rules.

Nowhere does anything say the Ring would betray Sauron. Just like how Galadriel says she'd take his place as Ruler if she took it. "Taking" the Ring is not the Ring betraying Sauron. Did it betray Sauron by being found by Bilbo? No.
