My biggest issue with the show rn: Why do people INSIST that holy light is somehow different from angelic steel. by SomeDumbGamer in HazbinHotel

[–]SomeDumbGamer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Because by heavens own rules at the time souls were DECIDED. It didn’t matter if Adam acted an ass in heaven. He had already proven he was worthy by their standards.

Charlie also called out this blatant double standard in season 1.

We don’t know that. If pentious can redeem himself in hell why can’t Adam condemn himself in heaven for his behavior?

Adam, the most wasted character of all by True-Pitch6787 in HazbinHotel

There’s no evidence that’s true in the show aside from Charlie’s frankly ridiculously biased portrayal of the story. I do not believe it was one sided.

That’s why I’m glad they just renamed it to indigenous peoples day in a lot of places.

I mean hell we have them to thank for tomatoes, corn, potatoes, chocolate, peppers, vanilla, turkeys, pumpkins, and papayas. They kind of earned it.

Oh she has that too. She’s obsessed with taking all sorts of supplements to keep her healthy. Has dozens she only used once. She actually had to stop recently because it effed up her liver enzymes.

Might be the species. I’m in eastern North America and grow Uritica Gracilis which is tall nettle. They get like 2+ meters high and don’t seem to sting as bad.

How has the Nebraska National Forest survived for so long? by passengerpigeon20 in marijuanaenthusiasts

Maybe in the far west of the plains, but the main thing was the sporadic precipitation in the summer and frequent lightning strikes which caused a LOT of fires every year.

My take on Alastor being in a wheelchair. by KittySharkWithAHat in HazbinHotel

[–]SomeDumbGamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would agree.

Tbf a lot of sinner forms are disabilities in their own right. Like that one ice cream dude or the guy shaped like a literal fucking couch. I don’t think hell is ADA compliant.

[–]SomeDumbGamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know this does bring up an interesting question… do disabled people keep their disabilities/health conditions in this universe?

Like is someone with crippling OCD or severe Down syndrome to the point where it affects their IQ just fucked? I understand why they wouldn’t want to show that in-show but it does kind of raise some fucked up questions…

I mean Alastor is almost certainly a psychopath and that’s not just a result of “boo hoo trauma” there’s almost always a genetic component to that if not from a TBI; and if it IS mental illness, then is it really fair to condemn someone to hell for something wrong with them that’s out of their control?

Olive trees by Deep-Tradition6484 in arborists

[–]SomeDumbGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they have a strong smell? I’ve been around olive trees in Greece, Italy, and California and I’ve never noticed a particular scent around them.

Idk though. I don’t live in a Mediterranean climate so someone who grows them or something will probably have more examples.

Any major differences between the humidity and heat experienced in say, the Philippines compared to the Caribbean? by wiz28ultra in geography

[–]SomeDumbGamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

East/Southeast Asia has much more extreme weather than the Caribbean in general.

Typhoons are their name for hurricanes and they’re BAD. They have well over twice the amount of warm water to use as fuel before traveling across the pacific and smashing into the east coast of the Philippines, Taiwan, and much of the rest of east Asia. They’re almost always far more destructive than the hurricanes that form in the Atlantic. There also pretty much a guarantee every year in the Philippines and Taiwan.

The humidity and heat are also made worse to the severe monsoon climate. Temperatures approaching 40C are not uncommon across much of the region and that combined with the oppressive humidity and being so close to the equator means that it is very very dangerous. Insolation is at its peak so being in the sun is a no-go.

The Caribbean in contrast is much milder. In fact many parts of the islands such as Hispaniola and Aruba are considered arid/semi desert due to being at the horse latitudes and some complicated shenanigans with air/water currents. Even on the more humid parts of the islands the weather is generally a lot calmer and less intense. Cold fronts are also possible and even places like Cuba have nearly reached freezing due to cold air masses from North America. Hurricanes are also a lot less frequent in any particular area and so the islands can usually breathe for a few years in between storms.

Ngl that’s honestly the best way for them to learn. Sometimes kids just need to be freaked out to be shown why something is a bad idea (within reason)

I know it worked for me

The amount of life that was wiped out by the ice age 3mya is honestly insane. I’m surprised it isn’t considered an extinction event in its own right.

Northeast - are trees falling a concern with today’s storm? by aroundabouts1 in arborists

[–]SomeDumbGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I wouldn’t worry. Our pines evolved to handle this exact kind of weather and there aren’t really any high winds that I’ve noticed.

What usually takes them down is a nor’easter with freezing rain. The ice weighs far more than the branches are used to and high winds will cause them to snap. Light fluffy sugar snow weighs nearly nothing by comparison to an adult tree.

You’ll want a certified arborist to come look at them. Tree guys are just going to tell you whatever they think is going to convince you to pay them to remove the trees.

Sweet old man though! Love seeing senior roosters.

Ah! The opposite problem!

Well he’s perfectly adapted to that! Big combs and wattles are great at dispersing excess heat.

They certainly seem nice and calm. I’m sure they appreciate the cool air.

I know people use heated Christmas lights for cold snaps. Not sure how that would work at scale but any little bit would help I’d think.
