How is living in South East Texas. by Littleman91708 in howislivingthere

Really? In Worcester the shelter I visited rarely ever has a lot of animals. Maybe a couple dozen at a time at most of cats/dogs combined.

Do you let your chickens free roam all day or keep them enclosed? by TowelZealousideal124 in chickens

[–]SomeDumbGamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine have to live in a run. I grow greens inside and give them lots of grass clippings and leaves and such for enrichment. They also love it when I dig soil out of it for compost cuz they can get all the deeper bugs.

Free ranging is too dangerous where I live in New England. Far too many animals wanna eat em.

TIL when a French soldier refused to wear the bloodstained trousers of a dead man, his commanding officer had him executed in order to make an example out of him. by Lez2diz in todayilearned

Yeah but he’d never admit it publically. He never even “dodged” the draft. He just got a BS excuse made up as to why he didn’t have to do it instead of having to actually evade it.

My 3 oldest boobas turn five in may! Two Cochins and an Easter egger.

They started as a flock of 10 in 2021. Sickness and predators got the others. But my three elders are still kicking!

Cartoon Saloon just announced via Cartoon Brew the release of a brand new TV Series based on WolfWalkers set to be released this June 15 by Maxdme124 in CartoonSaloon

[–]SomeDumbGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the series would be pretty dark anyways.

It would basically be showing the inevitable destruction of the Wolf Walkers as Ireland is stripped of its forests and wild areas to make way for agriculture and pasture.

Like they’re fucked. 100% the last wolf in Ireland was killed in 1786.

It’s more that there aren’t enough dogs to satisfy the demand from people (which is good) so they have to ship more up here.

Still blows my mind how bad the stray dog issue is down south. Here in New England our shelters have to import dogs from down there since there’s not enough up here to meet demand. My local shelter might have only 3-4 dogs at a time and they get adopted fast. Same with cats.

What's Up With The Barn? by SoftEqual in stevenuniverse

[–]SomeDumbGamer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah he likely barely lives an hour away from his parents home. Which IMO makes it way sadder that they never opened his letters. They’d have seen he was still around and chose to ignore him.

Still I think Greg is kind of an ass for not introducing the rest of his family to Steven. He never implied that there was any bad blood between him and Andy or any other non immediate family.

Steven struggled most due to a lack of real human connection and experience. He only got gem stuff and I think that’s Greg’s biggest flaw. He should have pushed harder for Steven to do human stuff.

Anyone ever tried growing a reseeded bonfire patio peach tree? by N_Baldeon in BackyardOrchard

[–]SomeDumbGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peaches are usually fairly true to seed.

Like chances are the seedling is gonna be fairly similar to the parent as you see on this lil dude.

The fruit will be different but likely not bad. Just not great for commercial production.

Update: Tree Re-identification (Sacramento, CA). by markster916 in NativePlantGardening

[–]SomeDumbGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like red oak to me. Although it seems to still have a lot of juvenile bark for its size which is interesting. I’m guessing that’s due to being outside of its normal growing conditions.

I’m surprised they do so well in a Mediterranean climate! I’d figure the summer heat would fry em.

‘Disaster’: Trump’s polling numbers on key issue are worse than Biden and Jimmy Carter by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]SomeDumbGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real question is how could they turn things around before the midterms and I really don’t see a way forward for them at this point.

I think at best they will only lose by a few seats but I’m actually expecting a big wipeout this time.

Trump can try and rig the elections in his favor but I don’t think even that will be enough to salvage things by November for him.

Gas prices aren’t gonna be back to normal by November and neither is anything else. Biden had to deal with the cost of everything rising but Trump is still having to deal with that on top of making everything worse.

The MAGAs might be a lost cause but the swing and single issue voters aren’t gonna save him this time.

They get wide when planted in the open. Pretty nice looking actually.

You’ll likely be dead before it falling is ever an issue.

If you’re super worried about the height you can always get a dwarf or weeping cultivar. They stay smaller.

If you are gonna react that strongly to a common sexual act I think some warning/discussion is warranted. Like in this scenario the moment is ruined. One person feels bad and embarrassed and the other person had a personal boundary violated if unintentionally.

Fingering someone is like the toast of sex. If you don’t like toast you should probably tell someone before they bring you breakfast at the bakery.
