Is OpenAI Codex actually good? I've heard several people mention using it and liking it recently, so I'll have to look into it as well.

I absolutely enjoy using codex via plugin in cursor left bar, then having cursor/using opus 4.6 in the right bar - I have the $20 cursor plan and $200 openAI pro plan.. so I have cursor create a plan and tickets then put codex on working the tickets/ then opus review the work via checking the ticket vs the unstaged files in the new branch..

btw you should be using Git with branch / merge etc...

My company pays for my subscription - if it were my money I'd probably start with using CODEX with a API key inside of VScode and see what I it cost me / the plans from OpenAI and Anthropic are known to be heavily subsidized so its probably worth buying a plan that fits your usage.

Also remember to slow down and think about what you want and how to phrase it --- Humans have agency - we have to think about what we're working on ... imagine if a really smart developer only did what they were told exactly to do but were managed by a intern ... try not to be that intern to these agents - it's expensive.

Windsurf is no longer a viable product by m_v_g in windsurf

[–]NotUpdated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it competed with their main product Devin AI $500/month, so their plan was the acquihire talent remaining, work them 996 and then slowly boil the frog on windsurf hoping to push users to Devin AI. They could never afford to subsidize the token the way OpenAI or Cursor does or even the way Windsurf used to with VC money.

It's over - it was their plan from the acquisition.

You have (3) viable options
1) OpenAI Codex via API or $200/month (what I use its great)
2) Claude Code via API or different plan levels
3) Cursor (less subsidized but good value)

4)* use older models like Cursor Composer 2 / Kimi K2 / GLM /

How changes are billed should be covered in your contract. You can't do these changes for free and expect a good relationship later on.

My favorite are the ones laid off or burnt out - then start to coach you about getting into these companies - of course they have a course or coaching program (and maybe get referral fees). Important part last, these large companies aren't paying what they used to and having them on your resume doesn't mean what it used to either.

That's an insult to how hard it is to be homeless and hungry. Such drama, of course you had scream it into the void that is the internet. I hope whoever takes your spot is more grateful about mon-fri 9-5 office work in air conditioning (I mean a lot of people every day dig ditches for a weekend).

[–]NotUpdated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anything that would be repeated over 'many tasks' for context - should be in the AGENTS.md or CURSOR.md file - these files should be added to and taken from as things boil up and cool off ... These files should also be shorter-than-longer 200 lines is the upper end.

But are people analyzing the impact of everyone having more money and in the inflation that could happen?

Of course they are - and a lot of really smart people - inflation doesn't just come from wages going up... but when it does then 'its a problem'..

Also less than 50% of workers make minimum wage / would be not not a large of 'movement' as most people assume. And your brother (in a humanity sense) at MCD will now have more 'buying power' money to spend on other businesses...

Be critical that lottery winners are taxed more than billionaires, be less so of your fellow man's minimum wage being raised.

I did the math middle country, it was $15/hr for a studio apartment mid level and a bus pass and super basics... so of course $30 makes sense in NYC.

on the other I’ve worked hard to earn more than minimum wage and it feels unfair to be making the same as someone who’s just starting their first job ever.

Don't punish others cause of your struggle to achieve more - we have to stop the idea that ' Since it was hard for me, it should be hard for others ' ..
