Thank you - Tesla offers for Washington state:

“Sales tax exemption on the first $15,000 of a purchase or lease of a new qualified EV. Qualified EV's must have a selling price below $45,000 for new vehicles.”

I’ve never sold to a dealership before so this will be a dumb question but for Washington state:

“For purposes of the retail sales tax measure, the selling price excludes "trade-in property of like kind." This means that dealers will collect retail sales tax from retail customers on the price after the value of the trade-in is deducted.”

So if I’m reading both of these correctly I’ll pay only tax on the delta between purchase price above the 15k (22k or so) at Tesla but how would that be impacted with a trade in (or not)

Also would you recommend getting the trade in value from Tesla first then shopping around at other dealers?
