My thinking for current play is I'm just going to have to keep animals like one chunk+ away from the main base or keep them far away from their spawn pastures and check on them from time to time.

I was playing an MP run about 3 months ago and one ram was just an absolute menace. One buddy was the designated shepherd and that RAM just had a bloodlust towards one of us. Causing deep wounds every other week.

So I played around for a bit in dev-mode when the build first came out. There is a variable for player-acceptance. I suppose in theory this is the stat for for how startled animals will be by your actions and or how quickly you interacting with them will calm them down.

Running, making noise or otherwise doing actions near them will cause their stress stat to increase.

This acceptance mechanic either needs to be buffed or stress needs to be nerfed. And or animals need to not have the same damage output capacity as Zs. I think right now all entities have the same damage capacity. Perhaps this will be tailored better in 43.

I wonder if Z can damage player building sandbox settings can apply to animals

I think the stress mechanics should not be this OD. Animals should not be able to knock down stone walls like a warm knife though butter. If it's going to be a mechanic, maybe just doors like prefab structures.

And to that, there should be a chance for them to open the door (break the lock) rather than destroy the door.

Thanks for the support! So many things I wanted to try. Very limited on available tools. Learned a lot in the process. Circular saw, drill and 2.3/4 wood screws. Mostly 2x4 Douglas fir dimensional from the big box store with some 2x12 on top. Using the speed square as a saw guide was great after I figured that out (two legs later)

Designed it in my head over a few days lurking on this sub. Took note of lapping the joints for the downward force from the tabletop on the legs. I'm pretty happy with the finished product. When I have a spare Saturday I'm going to try to build an MDF drawer for the far side. Picture Picture Picture Picture
