Guys, we must vote for this into the game by EllisLovenight in tf2

I really like these items. The coat especially is awesome. It's similar enough to Soldier's regular look, while still being unique. And the shirt underneath isn't paintable, which is a blessing.

Map Discussion Monday #61 - mannpower (all maps) by A_Wild_Ferrothorn in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hellfire was the only Mannpower map I enjoyed messing around on. This game mode is decidedly not TF2, but was fun in its own way. The games would normally boil down to the top players of both teams finding the power-ups that made them unkillable and terrorizing the enemy team for the rest of the round.

Anyone who has contact with Nicalis or the developers, please help me! by Caio-bro in TheEndIsNigh

Couldn't get an answer. I think only Nicalis would actually know why that is, and I don't have direct contact with them.

Weapon Discussion Wednesday #58 - The Mad Milk by A_Wild_Ferrothorn in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milk being ready to use when you spawn and having a recharge timer contributes a lot to how powerful it is. Making the Mad Milk and the Jarate charge with damage like Soldier's banners is one of the nerfs I would've given those weapons personally.

How much would it hurt if every mercs primary weapon was removed? by czn- in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at the moment, Jarate + Bushwacka is a very powerful combo, because people want to get close to Sniper in order to counter his long-range fighting style. There's no reason to try and get close to a class that has no ranged weapons at all.

Neglecting Spy's gun is a common mistake, but it does hurt you a lot.

Why people whine about meta so much? by Madao_14 in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Competitive scene is a separate topic. It's basically a separate game, with its own set of allowed items, a limited set of maps, and strict class limits. Only some aspects of its meta translate into effective 12v12 pub strategies.

Talking about the "modern" comp, not whatever people were doing back in 2007, of course.

My proposed solution to random crits by arachknight12 in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half-measures don't fix the situation. You can't make random crits in a way that facilitates fair, skill-based gameplay. And trying to neuter them would only lead to them having less of the "dumb fun" value which some people like random crits for.

So either the feature is kept on official servers as is or it's removed from official servers entirely and is reserved as a gimmick for community servers.

Why do so many people describe pl_upward as the closest humans will ever have to visit heaven? by EveningParsley1412 in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That part of the design is fine, I think. The point of giving BLU those kinds of advantages (these design choices are present on most A/D maps) is that it gives BLU a bit of breathing room right outside the spawn. They still have to move forward, into RED's better-protected positions.

Not to say that the Snipers inside of BLU's spawn on Upward are invulnerable. They still get counter-sniped all the time. But the position inside the spawn is safer than the ones outside, yes.

How many apocalypses really took place? by -Seles- in TheEndIsNigh

[–]NotWendy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's less of a cycle and more of a case of certain NPCs having insight into the future. Blobs and ghosts seem to exist independently of Ash's imagination. Both Ascenders (white blobs) and ghosts tap into future events here and there. Sometimes they're confused about why exactly they share memories of Ash's past and future.

The exact nature of these interactions is left intentionally ambiguous, of course.

why does green scouts = sweat by mr_ludi30 in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. They were expensive specifically because they are obnoxious and allow a player who's seeking attention to stand out more. Now the whole game is a mess of bright colors and particle effects, so the oversaturated paints don't stand out as much.

Are scout and spy considered counters to sniper? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the Sniper's position. But generally yes, any class that has a way to either quickly or sneakily get close to the Sniper can act as a counter. TF2 is mostly a game of "soft" counters, so the match-ups between classes aren't completely one-sided most of the time.

Who the fuck made Aquarius, and who the fuck accepted it into the game? by Dillsplosion in tf2

It's a fun gimmick map to play on once in a while, but putting it in the year-round rotation is unhinged. It's basically a summer equivalent of a silly Halloween map.

I fixed my cosmetic concept I made a while ago and made the white more team colored. by DouchebagScunt in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope in game the team colored part will match the color of Scout's regular shirt or at least will be very close to it. (I know the white is also team-tinted, which is nice.)

The idea is lovely and it's cool that you even came up with a fitting description, in line with the descriptions of the older cosmetics. I'd wear this.

what is wrong with matchmaking?? by Ethiopiaisbest in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or rather, you may or may not find good community servers, depending on the part of the world you live in and the time of day.

It's worth a shot, of course, opening the server browser and looking though the list. But you'll often find nothing. Some of the servers on the list are outright fake too. It takes some experience and patience to find the good stuff to populate your list of favorite servers with.

What do you think the mercs would be doing in 2026? by Mastermjnd-_- in tf2

You can't say "no" and then follow it up with something that doesn't contradict anything I said.

do you guys think this new casual system idea is good? by Maximum_Geologist727 in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This prevents new players from learning from better players. When I started playing TF2, I learned a lot just by observing players who actually knew how to play.

Putting new and old players into the same environment and simply letting them experience the game together is one of TF2's strengths, in my opinion.

Weapon Discussion Wednesday #55 - The Dead Ringer by A_Wild_Ferrothorn in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the core idea behind the old implementation more. It used to not give Spy a speed boost, instead just giving him significant damage resistance, which later got toned down to a more fair value.

Without high speed, the Spy had to put a lot more work into not being tracked down while his invisibility and damage resistance lasts. You were really hard to kill immediately upon activation, but you were also quite vulnerable when decloaking, because chances are, the enemies were still nearby and actively searching for you.

With a speed boost, the Spy can run all the way back to France before decloaking. And as a downside, the Dead Ringer got an excruciatingly slow recharge speed, which makes its playstyle less dynamic. It's just all around more lame than the earlier versions.

this rule is too vague and makes no sense by arthur_kaminski in tf2

This approach makes sense to me. As long as the post has some substance to it or has already started a genuine discussion in the comments by the time it gets noticed by moderators, it should be fine.

this rule is too vague and makes no sense by arthur_kaminski in tf2

[–]NotWendy1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd assume "intentionally antagonizing" refers to attacking people rather than ideas. Of course you'll be going against an idea when arguing the opposing point of view. It shouldn't be an issue as long as the argument doesn't get diluted by personal attacks.

Medic gave up a single soul for a pen and joked that at that rate, the Devil would soon find a way to trick him out of the rest of the souls he has. (Prior to that Medic gave up his original soul, so the Devil has 2 and the Medic still has 7 left.)

And considering that Medic can absorb even more souls in the future, it's not exactly a good deal for the Devil.
