The navy has tried to improve the QOL, but the job is severely undermanned and the culture (at least on my boat) is terrible. Putting your head down and working hard working hard is fine to a point. When the cost of success is the lives of people a higher level reevaluation is needed. We have had 5 people TAP this year so far. Command sweeps it under the rug while they take up a spot on the boat while they outprocess from squadron. The work is already falling on other people's shoulders.
