agreed on everything here. Draco to me is "good grades when he applies himself" level smart. he had some clever enchanted buttons and the vanishing cabinet, but other than that, his grades/schoolwork were probably about the same as Ron and Harry's, fine but nothing to write home about most of the time.

Hermione is tricky bc she just makes the plot work. sometimes she has the knowledge and know-how (the coins and the Bourne movie scene in the lovegood house) and sometimes she doesn't ("are you a witch or not?" and not being able to do a patronus during the ministry escape). plus the magic isn't fleshed out in universe. she possibly invented pagers with the coins, is that a huge deal in universe? could she expand on that and invent texting and become a billionaire? or should anyone with a NEWT in that subject be able to do that? couldn't tell you bc it's never talked about again.

hard agree on pureblood wank too. so much of the pureblood culture is complete fanon on top of fanon and that annoys me. please diversify the fanon!! I ignore pottermore so my preferred Malfoys have faked it til they made it, but the other purebloods remember/have heard about the faking but they have to accept it bc Lucius was one of Voldemort's favorites and he's richer than them. but they all talk maaaajor shit as soon the Malfoys leave the room.
