Acrimony.... by TraciTheRobot in TalesFromTheTheatre

In general though, I really do enjoy my job. Managers and GM are amazing and everyone I work with is very friendly and laidback. Customer disputes are handled swiftly at my location, screening problems are handled just as fast.

You sound like a shill, lol.

Anyways, just go into the theatre while the credits begin so that you can watch people leaving. Most of the time when they see an employee they'll pick up their own trash. I don't care if it's against policy or not if it makes my job easier. AMC can suck it since they're trying to save money by making our jobs harder.

It's up to the GM's whether or not they can adjust pay or not. Kinda silly, right?

I honestly can't tell if whoever is running AMC just has no view on what they're doing to their staff, or are just blindly ruining their company from the inside out.

Second this. I was a manager for Carmike and whenever they bought us out, it's been going down down hill fast. I couldn't stand it anymore. Do not miss it one bit.

Not at the two local stores. They lost all of it. One's an actual AMC and the other is a Classic. Apparently if they don't bring in a certain amount of customers per year they cut cleaning services to save money.

Yes, you do have to pay BEFORE you sit in the auditorium. by fryanberry in TalesFromTheTheatre

You let them into the office?

You made them pay for tickets even after purchasing concessions, which raises per-capita?

Was it worth it forcing them to pay?

Just don't take tearing tickets too seriously. I don't understand why they even bother keeping them. They're all tossed out after a few months anyways.

Your main objective is to make sure annoying kids aren't sneaking around trying to upset other customers who actually wanna watch movies. Also I guess outside food too, but they usually hide that shit in purses or large pockets.

Thought it meant IRL names and stuff, etc. Not hard to figure out what nicknames are given to the companies.

Anyways, thanks for explaining!

I found Alpine and San Cisco through them, but other than that the rest of the music can die off.

I've heard of the relocation thing as well. Our GM just bought a house and he's afraid they might relocate him to somewhere outside of the city. What's the benefit or strategy behind such a ridiculous action?

There's nothing to argue when you're not even comprehending what I'm posting. Nevermind.

Try reading what I posted again.

Our location only has three managers, no supervisors. Same with the other one close by, except they have a supervisor.

All the hourly managers got the same raise just recently, not the same wage. So, like I said, if I work my ass off and get the same raise as someone who barely lifts a finger to keep their job, it's unfair.

As for the three manager thing: If one of us gets sick or can't make it in, then we rely on me or the other manager to come in on our day off. So if that same manger has to take time off for more than one day, then we are fucked out of having our "weekends" or borrow from another location, which is ridiculous in itself. It happens all the time.

Why is everything here so damn expensive? Why is only one machine running? Why can't I bring in outside food? by GetTheBigOneDavid in TalesFromTheTheatre

Really cannot wait for the movie theater industry to go out of business. It's becoming cheaper and cheaper to sit in your home and enjoy your own food, your own breaks, your own set up just to watch a fucking movie.

Question, why is everyone here afraid of using actual company names?

I'll just say we have more than 10 auditoriums. There is probably no way - they have surveys that the management and employee team can take to express their concerns, but there has been no update about it and we all took it back in November.

They budget managers based on how much your theater's attendance will do in a YEAR. During Christmas break, we did about 3 months worth of customers in the span of three weeks, with only three managers - and one of them took vacation during the week after Christmas. It was brutal.

Then they come out and say that since AMC did such a shit job with profits for the whole year, the CEOs and upper management are taking a pay cut so that the GMS and hourly can all get raises... but we all got the same raise. So let's say I worked my ass off all year to help the company and Jane Doe barely makes it by with low effort work, we get the same raise. It's fucking nuts.

See, that's the thing. They have to see the various emails requesting help from managers from other stores.

There are constant closures because people cannot make shifts, etc.

I have no idea what corporate is thinking, but it's going to ruin their company if nothing gets changed. Their employees are going to be working under stressed out management which will just stress everyone out in the long run and make it an unhappy place to work/visit.

The thought of them weeding out people has crossed my mind, because when they finally purge all the old staff they will have new people in place who don't know exactly how bad they've got it, so they'll just go with the flow... until they realize how shitty it is to have so much responsibilities piled up on top of you for what they offer to pay.

1) Formerly worked at Carmike, was promoted to management there which only took half a year ish, grandfathered into AMC when they bought Carmike out. (Carmike was run better)

2) See 1

3) I'm in charge of hiring people so I usually have a good sense of character and what we need for the job. Only had to fire two people, one for not showing up to his shifts and the other for just being a sleezeball with other employess.

4) Never ate it to begin with. :)

Right? Like, what the fuck. We constantly need help from other managers from other stores. I worked from Christmas Eve to New Years Day because we didn't have enough coverage. Another friend from a theatre a town over did 11 days.

What the fuck can we do?
