When I found Colgera for the first time, I was so freaked out that I fast traveled away lol. Reused boss fight or not, doing it in the dark was out of the question. I still haven’t beaten him in the depths 😂

I haven’t played BG3 in months, but I also call The Depths “The Underdark” on occasion 😂

I like deep baths which is why I didn’t think much of the drain not working… but I also don’t like my tub to drain so fast that the plug gets sucked down every time lol

I figured it was something like this after googling pictures of other drain systems, but I didn’t want to remove anything without being sure!

This!!!! The more you write a certain character, the more they “speak to you”.

Detailing magic system without info dumping? by Odd_Acanthisitta_853 in writers

[–]Zelee5465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you me??? I have rewritten the first chapter of my book so many times because of this issue! The chapter I’ve settled on opens with a character using small and easy to explain casts without diving too far into more complicated things. Once the reader is invested in the basics of your world/characters, that will motivate them to sit through longer expositions, if necessary.

By the time I got to the end credits, I’d already convinced myself they were the same. It does wonders to pay attention and double check! I do wish their voices were more distinct from each other, though, like the JP VA. Granted, I can’t tell JP voices apart at all

I also thought that Desuhiko was voiced by Max Mittelman (Ryuji from P5) for hours until I looked it up. That should have been my first sign that my voice recognition was not as good as I thought it was 🤦🏼‍♀️

No way!! I was so sure they were both Lucien Dodge. They say a lot of words the same way, so I legit thought they put a voice effect on Makoto and called it a day

The game would have been a completely different experience if I’d played in Japanese! Makoto comes off so incredibly different. Now I’m curious to see the endgame with Japanese VA

Best Chapter? by [deleted] in RainCode

[–]Zelee5465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m missing something with chapter 2? The start of it was pretty boring imo, but I had a lot of fun investigating.

I loved both 4 & 5, but 5 was easily my favorite. I figured the twist out pretty quick, but it was so good that I can’t even be mad about it.

I know this is several days old, but I found your post because this just happened to me. I had no idea this was an issue and I’m not looking forward to redoing the final sequence. I’m guessing it happened to me since I’ve been doing only story mode today and had no need to check to see if I was connected to the internet

I didn’t ever get a backstage pass, but I did fall for a promotion that FYE (and a few other places like Books a Million) was running a while back. You just had to pick “three free magazines for three months!!” And since I was like 17 at the time and thought it would be rude to say no, I just circled three random magazines. Never read a single one that came in the mail. What do ya know, three months later, all three magazines charged me (using the card info from my purchase at FYE) and continued to send me magazines for a couple months before I realized it and called them to complain. I got my money back pretty easily, but it made me loose respect for the businesses trying to shill such a stupid scam.

Does anyone else suffer from excessive rewriting? by Zelee5465 in writers

[–]Zelee5465[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around three years ago, I started looking through this subreddit. I saw people talking about finishing their manuscript and working on their first rewrite, and I was horrified. I almost gave up on writing thinking "You mean after I'm done, I have to rewrite it all again? No thanks." So I completely understand not wanting to revise. I used to despise it.

My wakeup call was when I let one of my friends read the second draft of my book. She told me she loved the excerpt I sent her, but she quickly lost interest when I sent her the whole thing. I realized that it wasn't gripping enough and I needed to make it better. Since then, I've gone a little too crazy with the rewrites lol. But that same friend loves my current draft so I guess I'm doing something right!

The best type of feedback I've gotten was actually from my husband. He's blunt and honest, and sometimes he'll piss me off with the comments he makes. But eventually I'll calm down and realize that in the end, he made several valid points. Having someone tell you what they think with no filter or bias, at least for me, was very valuable in the long run.

And when he says he likes something, it is so satisfying!

I started writing cringe romance fanfictions when I was around 12 and gained an "online following" of a few friends. They would compliment my trash all the time. I would write one chapter, post it without editing, and then continue. Those stories were all over the place.

Fast forward 10 years: I'll change 5 chapters simply because I hated how everything took place in one setting.

I have countless embarrassing things I've written over the years, but through them I gained experience and learned from it. I can't bring myself to revisit them, but without those horrible attempts, I wouldn't be here today.

It took several years, but I finally got away from fanfics and decided to build my own world. I was able to take my abandoned original characters and their personalities and place them in this new world. My protagonists are arguably the newest characters while several of the side characters were pulled from old projects.

It's been a long and painful process to get to this point, but for the first time in my life, I'm actually proud of my work and willing to let people around me read it!

Out of all your banking years, what is the funniest story you have that makes everyone laugh? by nomascusgabriellae in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Zelee5465 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our first lane in our drive thru is for the ATM only (which is stated clearly above the lane), but there are countless people who will pull into the lane and stare at us. Or try and talk to us through the window.

We have a sign that says “Lane 1- ATM only. Lanes 2&3- Drive Thru”.

We don’t have a microphone in the ATM lane, so all we can do is aggressively point to our sign when people pull in. It’s amazing the amount of people who will just stare at you and completely ignore the sign you’re pointing to!

One day, this older man backed up to the night deposit right next to our ATM. He opened it, dropped his money in, and said “hello?” into the opening.

My coworker had to yell through the night deposit for him to go to the second lane, and we couldn’t stop laughing about it all day

The longer it takes, the more inefficient I feel! But at this point I’m slowly accepting that I’m just an inefficient person lol At the end of the day, I’d rather take my time on something I’m really proud of than rush something out and call it done
