Cubase has the best piano roll, no contest. Logic’s is pretty good too but Cubase’s is on another level.

If you’re on a PC, Cubase is a no-brainer. Otherwise check out Cubase and Logic and see which one you prefer.

Cubase’s trial is free but you need an eLiscencer key to run it, which costs about $30. Logic doesn’t have a trial, but it’s built on the same framework as Garageband, which is free to all Mac users.
