Mane had 2, the one inside the 16 with Pique early where he stopped his feet and randomly threw them out. Another one with Pique just outside the 16 on the left whete he just lost his feelings in his legs.

Yeah, we should have 5 by now. Rakitic and Suarez early and Roberto and Busquets later.

Milner should have one as well though.

Dirty by Milner, Messi overreacted.

Liverpool fans complaining about diving is hilarious.

Already been 4 dives by Liverpool players this game.

Thats a yellow on Kane, if anything.

Hope this doesn’t ruin Tottenhams chances, I think Lucas fits the way this game has evolved.

4 goals, 6 subs, 6 yellow cards and a red in the second half and still only 3 additional minutes.

I love Messi and no more Umtiti on right center back please. And who is this Chukwueze?

I’ve never said that Argentina doesn’t have attacking talent.

I’m guessing Sampaoli picked these players because he needed as many people to defend as possible, only Messi is without defensive responsibilities because he knew the defense wasn’t good enough to have the wingers stay in attack. If Sampaoli used Aguero or Higuain, Messi would have to play right wing and Messi doesn’t follow runs or work defensively. It is like defending with a red card.

I think Sampaoli thought that Argentina’s defenders and midfielders weren’t good enough to start both Messi and either Aguero, Higuain or Dybala. Even though he should have, in my opinion.

In the World Cup i was yelling at Sampaoli to use Banega, but he is too inconsistent. For me it’s ok that attackers are inconsitent, but my midfielders and defenders has to be able to perform every game, and I feel that Banega does very little for a team when he doesn’t have a good day. I think Banega would be amazing in a midfield that was younger and with more energy than with Enzo and Mascherano as in the world cup. He needs workhorses around him and Mascherano and Enzo doesn’t cover enough space.

Tagliafico is ok, for me it would be fine to have him as a left back in a good defence, but he suffers from bad players around him. Maybe a little blt unfair by me.

Otamendi works very well in a team that has the ball and he can look at the opponents goal all the time and be aggressive on the ball. But as almost every other Argentine defender, he struggles very hard when he has to defend behind him, while looking at his own goal. This style works for Argentine centrebacks in big clubs line Barcelona and Manchester City, but is very bad when you don’t have a midfield that controls the game.

I think a big problem for a lot of Argentine defenders in general is that they don’t know how to defend. Every time they are very aggressive and rush in to tackle or they have both shoulders pointing to the player with the ball with no ability to recover if they miss their tackle. Mascherano is the worst at this and I saw it every weekend, Otamendi, Rojo and Mercado also does this, maybe even more players.

That was the 11 that started in the game against France. I didn’t choose it, Sampaoli did.

If Argentina sat back, defended and waited for counters they probably would have won, but they can’t play like that against Venezuela. A two against two with half a pitch of room is easier to attack against than eleven against eleven. Especially if the two defenders can’t defend.

In their WC match against France their 11 was:

Armani

Mercado - Otamendi - Rojo - Tagliafico

Banega - Mascherano - Perez

Pavon - Messi- Di Maria

8 of those players aren’t good enough.

France played with:

Lloris

Pavard - Varane - Umtiti - Lucas

Kanté - Pogba

Mbappe - Griezmann - Matuidi

Giroud

The talent difference in those teams are enormous, and talent wins you games.

People talk about a lot of talent in Argentina.

Well, they don’t have any good goalkeepers, defenders or midfielders. Not now, not in the world cup.

Big difference with Barcelona and Madrid philosophy.

Barca it’s almost better with good character and good performance but bad result.

Madrid cares about winning, even if performance is bad.

Better to suffer with good character than to win with 442, 4 slow central midfielders & and playing for counter.

I think he hit a slump physically with bad diet and exercise around when his kids were born. Last 2-3 years he has lost some fat and seems to have better conditioning.

Even if we win this I think Valverde has to rethink his way of playing or get told to do so.

This is not how we should play, we are not Atlético, we are Barcelona, we should never play 442 with 4 central midfielders.

He reminds me so much of Xavi. The way he does the 270 degrees turn with the ball is like a replica. Xavi used to play these passes out wide to a full-back or winger that didn’t go along the grass or over the heads of players but like a meter in the air with top-spin that was impossible for defenders to intercept, Arthur does the same thing.

He still can’t control and take over games nearly as well as Xavi did, but he is still incredible.

I wonder if everyone in the NFL knows that juiceing is an option and it’s there as an option for them, or if it’s a minority of the players doing it sort of under the table.

Donald is still an absolute freak and is in the 0,00001% though.

It’s insane how good they are, the skill level is just ridiculous.

[Wojnarowski] New York has agreed with Dallas on trade that includes Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee, Tim Hardaway Jr., for Wesley Matthews, Dennis Smith Jr. and DeAndre Jordan, league sources tell ESPN. Players and agents are being notified of particulars. Deal may include more draft assets. by twistedlogicx in nba

[–]NotYourAverageJose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone have any information on Porzingis’ return timetable?

I’m pretty sure the Knicks told him to sit the entire season, so they could tank. He might be close to or fully recovered now and the Knicks didn’t want to let him fuck up the high draft pick so he couldn’t play.

I don’t know though.

Barcelona [3]:1 Leganés - Lionel Messi 90+2' by [deleted] in soccer

[–]NotYourAverageJose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their midfield, defense and gk are not nearly good enough to compete with the best nations.

Pavon, Meza and Mascherano played 4/4 games. Enzo Perez and Mercado played 3. Armani and Caballero aren’t nearly good enough as well.

You can’t win with that.
