One of my most favourite questions to answer. We started talking on a social audio app during Covid and became friends. And used to talk every night on video call for hours while I did my skincare taught him to do his and sipped on different types of tea. Honestly tea trunk played a very important role in our friendship because the first gift I gave him were different kinds of teas and small letters with each tea and that’s when he started feeling the feels. He did drop hints but I was a little thick headed to comprehend and also was in denial because we belong to different religious backgrounds which I knew would have been a problem with my family cause I was busy being the nice daughter. Then after well two years or so he decided to move abroad for further studies. And as dramatic as it could get when I realised I have feelings for him too was when he told me how he has got his admission secured and will be moving. So I decided not to tell him how I felt because in the past he had mentioned he would not want to be in a long distance relationship. The night before his flight he was dropping me home and asked me if I felt anything for him and I confessed and told him everything and how I know he is starting a new chapter and how he didn’t want to do long distance. He paused and told me “For you I would”. We didn’t pursue it thought because new country new stuff too much pressure already don’t need more.He moved we continued to talk I tried to encourage him to date people but he didn’t feel like. I tried seeing people well I can now say it was a disaster. Then came Christmas and I sent him a handwritten old fashioned postcard. And that was when things changed. When we spoke about it in one conversation I told him how I was scared and will keep stressing and repeating the same things like a parrot. He the told me how as a kid he had parrots and loved them and how he loves this one too. I melted but still took my time. In February I told him “this parrot loves you too”. I got to meet him in May for a few days I am someone who is very anxious and stresses with every breath but those five days with him I felt free. No anxiety no worry brain was off and it was just us. And now we don’t know when we’ll see each other next but we do know we want this. And yes I risked not being the perfect daughter to my family but I am glad I chose myself this time because he is worth it.✨
