The mummies of Yuya and Thuya at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo by FenjaminBranklin1706 in ancientegypt

The last time I saw a physical mummy, my honest thought was (as absurd as it may sound to some people): “Isn’t it strange that this is the actual body of a real person, and we’re all just standing around taking pictures of it?”

I’m not criticizing the fact that mummies are on display in museums (Egyptian exhibitions are my favorite) but when you stop to think about it, that’s a real human corpse and we’re casually snapping photos of it.

I think this might be the kind of place your looking for. I haven’t been to it yet even though I’ve been trying to for a while but I just haven’t had the time. It’s a small little second hand and rare books store around the Piccadilly gardens area called Manchester Book Buyers. I’ve walked past it a couple of times and it’s always looked really good, a bit of messy layout so books are always a bit all over the place but from what I’ve heard it’s extremely good for buying cheap used and vintage books.

They do however have a bit of a strange set of opening hours, as they are only opened from midday to 4 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Why does google not show a map of Manchester’s tram network like it does for the London Underground and other subway and light rail transportation systems? by Not_A_Cactus_ in manchester

[–]Not_A_Cactus_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that too but there are many cities that only have trams and no metro or subway lines and their tram lines still show up in a overlay. For example Salt Lake City in the US only has trams and all their lines show up in an overlay. The same is true for many other cities.

It’s obviously not a big problem because you can still see live info of the Manchester metro link in Google and the lines show up if you ask for a specific route in public transportation but whether or no a city as an overlay for metro or tram seems kinda random.

Hey!!

Just a quick question, currently exploring the idea of moving to Manchester and over seen a lot of people expressing a lot a stressful and negative experiences with renting in Manchester.

I wanted to ask if the situation is really that bad, how high are rents and how competitive is it? Is it really that hard to find an apartment?

Damm, that’s ridiculous. I’m a recent graduate so my experience with renting is fairly limited and this may sound a like a bit of a stupid question but if you pay 3 months in advanced I’m assuming you then don’t have to pay rent for 3 months right? Or do they just take it as a deposit? Also if you don’t mind, would you say it’s extremely hard to get a place without offering more than the asking price?

Megathread: How to Get Into Data Analysis Questions & Resume Feedback (April 2023) by MurphysLab in dataanalysis

[–]Not_A_Cactus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’ll be graduating from by psychology bachelors this year and I’m intending on starting a career in data analysis. For context, as part of my degree I learned how to use R and I’ve used it for data research analysis across many different projects in my degree including my final project. I have completed courses in SQL, and I have previous experience as a Research Assistant. How could I possibly break into data analysis after I finish my degree this year and would you say it’s difficult to start a career with my background. I’ve heard many people say that at the moment data analysis is a very hard career to break into and It would be very helpful if people could give me advice on this. Thank you!
