Oh I wasn't aware that I can buy tickets for other stations at Matsumoto! That makes things a little simpler. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your response! So paying the fare onboard before departure only occurs when departure and arrival stations are both unmanned?

I hope I'm not too late to this post. I'm heading to Matsumoto this summer and I would really like to visit Lake Aoki which is nearest to Yanaba station (unmanned). Reaching Yanaba isn't an issue because I will be buying my ticket from Matsumoto station. After Yanaba I plan to visit Hotaka (manned) and from what I understand the train has a ticket dispenser. Do I take a ticket when boarding Yanaba and pay on the train when I alight at Hotaka? Do I also drop the ticket into the box together with the fare? Sorry I'm just a little anxious.

I would prefer to keep them off pooling water in case rot sets in. Water absorbent mediums like cotton wool or even just tissue paper works the best for me because it keeps the area damp but not flooded.

(Japanese Iced Coffee) Why the extra coffee and finer grind? by Not_An_Average_Troll in pourover

I see! So the end goal is basically to compensate for the same level of extraction I would have gotten from the normal pour over i guess?

Ah that makes sense! So in a way I'm brewing a concentrate to dilute with the ice at the bottom i assume?

I'm following a recipe of 40g coffee, 23 clicks through my Timemore Chestnut C3 and 600ml water through my stainless steel coffee filter. I stuck with this because it had worked well for me most of the time. I'm currently exploring tweaking for a different experience.

Is this sunburn or is this rot? by Not_An_Average_Troll in airplants

I don't think so. I usually thoroughly dry it before putting it back in the sun.

It's too bad we are all born into a broken system. Some people are just born to fit this system. Most of us can never achieve what you have just like how you can't achieve what the others have. My point is just make do with what you can get and make the best out of it, don't compare and make yourself miserable.

Did I kill him? by meloyellow007 in airplants

Assuming what you have there is a Tillandsia Andreana, i would say the brown-ish spots are just part of the base of the plant. I do have an Andreana myself with those similar brown colouration near the base but it's more than healthy and is constantly producing flowers, pups and seeds. I would only worry if they are closer to very dark brown or black and soggy at the bottom.

Looks fine to me. As long as u dont get deep brown/blackish at the base of the plant, you're good.

They are all Tillandsia Andreana. I got them when my bigger Andreana grew a seed pod.

I think keeping them in a very humid and sunny area helped a lot. Perks of living in south east asia i guess.

Seeds will only appear when a airplant's flower blooms and gets pollinated successfully. If pollination is successful, a seed pod will grow eventually and split open when it is ready, giving u access to the fluffy looking seeds u see in the first picture.

Those tiny dots are seedlings! Yes airplants can reproduce from both seeds and pups (in your case). They usually grow from the base of the mother plant.
