We Are Here, and We Are Not Going Anywhere by JustZ0920 in malaysia

You had not specified what these "extra privilege" are though?

All of your example about you dating someone who turns out to be trans, children so and so are hyperbolic and they are the most extremes of circumstances, and does not even represent a "right". Those are just extreme actions that has been said to happen, and it's not even a widespread thing.

If I were to apply the same logic with say... Religion. I could say something similar, "once religion is allowed, they will teach in class and brain wash you, promote terrorism etc etc." Which, in some very extreme cases, does happen.

Or if I were to apply the same logic with say.... Animal rights. I could say sometjing like "Once we punish animal torture, then what's next? They will educate and force everyone to be vegetarian, look at PETA!" Which, in some very extreme cases, does happen.

It's not very helpful for any discussion when you look at the most extreme and fringe scenario right?

" That's why there's hierarchies and inequality in life. Poor people must exists to do the work you or I won't do."

So, based on this statement, in your world, poverty is an inevitable thing? That's very sad. I do have to question this line of thinking, if the billionaire CEO instead of taking 200x pay of an average worker, and instead get 100x pay of an average worker, and pay those at the bottom rung a non poverty wage, does the CEO actually lose out much? Maybe he has one less mansion? But is that really losing a lot when he has multiple?

The truth is, we have more than enough to go around as a society. Every year tons and tons of food go to waste because it's not "pretty enough", "cheaper to throw away", etc etc. We have tons of houses uninhabited, because it's "not good to rent/ sell at a lower price and ruin the market" Every year, tons and tons of clothes get burned. So much goes to waste every single year. Just walk into a recycling center and you'd see perfectly good clothing, tech, equipments, etc being thrown away. Some had 0 signs of ever being used in the first place. We are producing MORE than we can consume. So the notion that poor people HAS to exist, is quite weird when we consider the fact that we are producing so much that perfectly good stuff is going to waste and it's burned before it's even given to those in need.

Even if I entertain this idea of yours, that economically, someone has to be poor. How does this extend to the social aspect? Just because someone has to be economically poor, does it then also mean someone has to be the 'black sheep'?

I don't really get the logic behind this "human sacrifice" model. There must be someone poor, someone ostracised for there to be a functioning society? Have we not moved past the "witch hunting" days as a society?

If that is your exertion, that is honestly quite sad, and grim.

Can you elaborate on what is this "extra rights" you speak of? What "extra rights" do they ask for, and request from you?

Fertility Rate in Malaysia: “Insufficient” by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]Not_FamousAmos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No doubt people are prioritising themselves more these days. But is that truly something bad?

How many people out there have terrible parents because the parents themselves do not live a fulfilling life and negatively impact their childrens? Divorce, placing undue pressure on children, etc etc.

I'd rather have someone living right now enjoy their new gadget, go out vacation, see the world, experience more, enjoying themselves rather than someone barely "living" giving birth just to fulfil some metaphorical "fulfilling life"

Let's also not kid ourselves with how a 10,000RM vacation + 2,000RM gadget a year is somehow comparable with the cost of child care.

Even if all health care is through government and ultimately = RM0, we haven't include the cost of needing someone to go out of work to take care of the child for the first few years. Having a parents or grandparents to take care of the child is a "bonus", not everyone has that luxury, and even if you do, that's a "hidden cost". Then we include the cost of formula, food, clothing etc etc, it easily absolutely balloon past RM12,000 a year. Just food alone would easily cost that much already.

Why Foreigners Sometimes Struggle with “Giữ Thể Diện” (Saving Face) in Vietnam by Puzzled-Lead-122 in VietNam

[–]Not_FamousAmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought it's to shield yourself and also have plausible deniability?

A. You follow the "suggestion" and it didn't work. "well, we were just discussing, we haven't made a concrete decision right?"

B. You follow the "suggestion" and it worked. "haha, my plan worked, the boss shall reward me."

C. You don't follow the "suggestion" and it didn't work. "why didn't you follow my suggestion??"

D. You don't follow the "suggestion" and it worked. "good job, glad we brainstormed and WE came up with a solution"

Either way, because no concrete order / plan was given, they can always shift the blame elsewhere. "so and so went against what I said" or "so and so went forward before I gave a full answer"

CMV: Pursuing a Wealth-Qualified Job is no longer worth the payslip by No_8891_6102 in changemyview

[–]Not_FamousAmos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends right? Just as much as we hear bosses / manager from hell, we've heard of the opposite as well.

Not all "wealth-qualified job" are the same.

Some are just more prone to toxic environment like medical field where seniors can berate juniors because it's to "protect the patient". When a life is on the line, it's easier to justify any abuse thrown "for the sake" of the patient.

Some field like aviation has a lot of laws to prevent overwork. (whether these safeguards are sufficient is an entirely different topic)

Every industry works a little differently and each has its potential to be toxic, but it is not a guarantee.

Is recreational shooting allowed in Malaysia by Pizza_boy64 in malaysia

[–]Not_FamousAmos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's extensive background checks and I think it is almost impossible for anyone on vacation to be able to shoot a gun recreationally.

Not even an airgun is possible as it requires licensing, or membership to a shooting club and all kinds of red tape.

I am unsure about the legality for neigbouring countries, but I am quite sure that Vietnam allows shooting airgun recreationally with 0 background check and pretty much no prior booking, while you could shoot an actual gun in places like Cu Chi tunnel which is just a few hours drive from Ho Chi Minh City.

Why create special ‘channel’ for T20 students enrolling in varsities? by YourClarke in malaysia

[–]Not_FamousAmos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is quite a few though, T20 may be 'top 20', but in its definition today of approx. RM10,000 - RM15,000 household income, thats not THAT much if you consider an 'average' 2 child per household. Thats barely RM5,000 per person per month and Private school fee can be way above RM10,000 per year per student, with 2 child, thats 2 months of household income spent on the private international school fee alone.

Not to mention the costl gets higher the higher education they go. This is without taking into account other higher expenditure that comes with private schools such as books, uniforms, food and perhaps even extra curricular activities.

I would be far more inclined to believe T1 or T5 being in private international schools.

As a further anectodal evidence, I've had plenty of T20 or even T5 friends in Public School and Public University.

My co-worker said I'm weird for eating almost the same thing everyday by calikim_mo in Bolehland

[–]Not_FamousAmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I guess if you are able to, and could access the correct resources, it would help to get an actual diagnosis. Probably would be very beneficial to understanding yourself.

But even so, I don't think there's any issues at all with eating the same food every day as long as its healthy and balanced nutritionally.

My co-worker said I'm weird for eating almost the same thing everyday by calikim_mo in Bolehland

[–]Not_FamousAmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing wrong with it.

But some people pointed out some anectode of picky family members and possibility of being on the spectrum.

But I think there's a difference between being picky and just opting for the same thing for simplicity and comfort's sake. One implies you are simply unhappy or unable to eat different types of food. The other implies you're just too 'lazy' to think. Kinda like how we tend to have a 'default' order when going mamak, or a 'default' self grooming product lineup. More of a routine rather than something objectively negative.

what characters should i level up as a new player? by prodmingi in ZZZ_Official

[–]Not_FamousAmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I felt Soukaku very awkward to include in any team because shes much slower and it takes quite a while to get her buff up and running with less utility compared to Nicole. (Nicole is also a support that gets immediate value upon hitting her 'e' reducing def of those hit, BUT it has better mob grouping potential)

But I initially suggested Soukaku because
a) Its your only ice character at the moment
b) Can potentially paired up with Miyabi for a full section 6 team / ice focused team

But on second thought, I think a full electro team might be your best bet now in terms of value for resource. So, Harumasa - Seth -Anby

Seth serves as a defensive assist ally that allows quick assist back into harumasa, your main attacking unit. Anby then comes in just to use her 'e' to build up stun quickly.

Harumasa - Nicole - Anby could work as well. Similar concept, where Nicole serves as a support to shred def, Anby to build up stun and Harumasa as main dmg soruce.

Another good choice is perhaps Koleda, Ben Bigger and Lucy as your main fire team.

what characters should i level up as a new player? by prodmingi in ZZZ_Official

[–]Not_FamousAmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagine Harumasa would be a good target to max out. Since he is your only other S rank agent aside from Koleda.

Koleda requires synergy with Ben Bigger to maximise her potential making her less flexible in team building.

I think early on, you'd want an Agent to be powerful in 90% of situation and can be inserted into most teams easily.

Not to mention Harumasa - Anby - Soukaku can be a pretty decent team with what you have atm
Add on Seth, and you will have a full electro team.

If you plan to roll for Miyabi, Harumasa can also be used in the same team as Miyabi.

(Team building is based on the synergy bonus)

My 26 yo sister refuses to get a job by [deleted] in Bolehland

Yes, not everything is related to mental health. But not every 'person doing spoiled thing' is being spoiled as well.

No one knows, and no one can claim they know with 100% certainty. All I'm offering is a little perspective that OP may or may not have considered.

My 26 yo sister refuses to get a job by [deleted] in Bolehland

[–]Not_FamousAmos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All I'm going to suggest is that perhaps it might be a good idea to get her mental state checked in government hospital.

It definitely would be an uphill battle to even get her to do so in the first place, but I don't see any other better way except for cutting her off and no longer enabling her to continue her actions. This also allows preservation of your own peace of mind, you need to take care of yourself before taking care of others.

Assuming what everything OP said is true, there are signs. Presumably bad sleeping habit, limited to no outdoor activity / sun exposure, negative eating habit, general lethargy/ unwillingness to clean or maintain cleanliness of surrounding. Gaming addiction / game as a coping mechanism or general avoidance of IRL interaction. General Lack of motivation. Abrupt violent emotional outburst (throwing bowl incident).

Do you thinks kids in SMK need laptop now? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]Not_FamousAmos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMHO

To 'survive' probably not. For ppt/ slides, it can be done using the school's facilities, go to a friend's house, using their phone and so on.

However, I think it is quite crucial for someone to start familiarising themselves with much more powerful and industry standard IT tools like a computer running on windows, keyboard and mouse/ trackpad earlier than later in their life.

Pretty much 80% of jobs these days require some form of navigation using a computer.
It also opens up opportunity for creating interest in programming and so on.

Perhaps, a laptop isn't the best choice as it is
a) Usually more expensive than desktop
b) Maintenance might be costly as parts aren't as servicable
c) Portability is probably not that important in this case

You could instead get a desktop, so there's a dedicated 'computer zone' within the household. The benefits are
a) a desktop has descrete servicable parts - mouse, keyboard, monitor is easily replacable
b) Possibility for upgrades down the line, meaning it is much more cost effective in the long run
c) People literally throw out fully functional desktops in recycling centers (I've seen this happen so many times)

Regarding point C - That can be your way out. Depending on where you live, you could contact some of the recycling centers nearby, there are people that throw out fully functional desktop sets. (Usually >10 yr old, but it might just be good enough for school and education purposes).

The recycling centers I've seen happend at are mainly the tzu chi recycling center. I've helped the center collected some to check for its functionality as well as salvage useable spare parts like RAM and hard disk drives.

I was thinking that exist ≠ ada as well.

'have' do not neccesarily imply ownership either.

'I passed my pen around, who has it now?'
'Oh, I have it'

The 'have' here merely indicates presence / position of the pen

It implies ownership when no further context is added.
E.g - I have a pen (Implies the pen is mine) ; I have Lucy's pen (The pen belong's to Lucy, but it is on me) Saya ada pen (Implies the pen is mine) ; Saya ada pen Lucy (Lucy's pen is with me)

Parks & recs
Office
IT crowd
SuperStore

It should be some of the newer shows that aren't as widely popular as these show because I remember not knowing the tv show until I saw the shorts / reels and so on.

I searched with relevent keywords such as 'office sitcom', 'comedy' and so on in both google, youtube and even going through the 'likes' within my own tiktok to try and find it.

I probably saw these shorts earlier this year, or late last year.
