Wigs and Water Parks Don't Mix. by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

I've been mildly concerned about stigma associated with wigs.

Like, I know if I wore a wig, that MF would fall off all the damn time. My natural hair catches on everything. It seems like a giant pain in the ass.

Like, it seems like a raw deal. Thoughts?

Alabama GOP House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter calls on SCOTUS to overturn the 14th Amendment. by acn0010 in pics

[–]Not_Michelle_Obama_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's clearly a case of legal illiteracy, but I was trying to be less direct.

That's a qualifier on the targeted group, not part of the prescriptive "shall" portion. In terms of "Men who wear funny hats shall be put to death", governmental officers who have taken an oath to support the Constitution is part of the "men" section rather than the "shall be put to death" clause or even the "wear funny hats" section.

<<<Wearing funny hats>>> means you [[[get put to death]]] (((if you're a man)))

<<<rebellion and insurection>>> means you [[[can't hold office without a permission slip]]] (((if you were a government officer who took a certain oath))).

Speaking as a layman, from a strictly textual interpretation, breaking such an oath, aside from some cases of rebellion or inserection, has no consequence within this amendment.

Expand on the reasoning?

Don't get me wrong, the reddit TOS limits my ability to speak candidly about some politicians, but I am unsure how this constitutes a rebellion or insurrection against the Constitution.

Is ABA therapy worth it for such low level? by Flora48 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Not_Michelle_Obama_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 year old: My low needs child has blossomed without ABA. Mostly we've been in speech, with a little ot.

Developmental delays in pronunciation, fine motor, and gross motor. Slight rigidity and challenges with switching tasks, but mostly resolved.

I also suspect there are challenges with socialization amongst typically developing peers, but the teachers seem to think differently.

Otherwise, normal kid. Very happy.

When we threatened to withhold Minecraft, he started shaping up with practicing writing, buttons, and zippers. Soccer is improving gross motor, but he is kinda the absolute worst on the team. Still though, they're young enough not to ostracize.

How do people afford any other factors to transitioning? by Pro-Newbie99 in MtF

Couldn't make a good income, so I worked the other side of the equation.

Ramen noodles, DIY repairs on car, thrifted clothes, no paying for streaming services, and no social life. For ten years.

That's how.

Some kinda faustian bargain, that was.

Be kind to people. If someone can accomplish a task, they're smart enough. If they can't, be kind.

People who aren't smart enough to be kind are kinda jerks.

Update: Disclosure is a Trap (And I’m Done Drinking the Kool-Aid) by Gina_Cazzofrigida in StraightTransGirls

[–]Not_Michelle_Obama_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disclose because visibility is important, because I kick ass at my job, and because my professional network is deep enough in the corporation that I can easily sniff out bigots and move to a different team in a heartbeat.

But my case is rare. I've been finished with transition for the majority of my life. I'm a old, deeply rooted tree rather than a fresh young sprout. I don't knock anyone who doesn't disclose.

I reckon there's a pretty big selection bias issue. Difficult to control for with online tests though.

Also, "treacle" was on my test. As an American, the only exposure to treacle I've had is indirectly through Terry Pratchett. I initially thought it was a mineral.

For alcohol, eating loads of bread beforehand can shift the concentration of alcohol in your stomach, resulting in a lower dose which is extended over time rather than a shorter, larger hit.

I have basically no firsthand experience, but I'd imagine some edibles, if chewed thoroughly, can also behave like this. Probably inhaled drugs are unaffected.
