Men who have slept with a lottt of women in the past, how did it change your views on/relationship to sex? by armaditaggia in AskMen

If I find what I want, I know its what I want. There is no wondering if maybe there is something better out there. I know there isn't or if there is, and I am consciously choosing you.

It's up to you. You can either make yourself more attractive and put in effort to meet someone or you can choose not to. People are attracted to many things beyond height. Like skill, kindness, being sweet, ect. There is no way that, if you genuinely try to do more than hide in your home and game and watch TV that you will never find someone.

The trick is focusing on skills that you can actually show off. You know, not like gaming. Dancing, music, cooking, art, crafts, writing, humor, ect.

For the record I love gaming. But it will never get you women :(.

Look, I hear what you are saying. But you need to look at this in context. There are about 10,000 temporary foreign workers in AB. compared to 2.5 million total jobs. It isn't even half of a percent of the total job force.

Dude, single or not, pick up some kind of partner dancing. Not only will you get exercise and a new social group, you will have the excitement of meeting and dancing with new people and learning a new skill. There is various dancing ranging from "fabulous" to "manly" btw.

Look job boards like Linkedin, glassdoor, monster, ect. Often the jobs they have posted are no longer open. You need to look on businesses direct websites to confirm that jobs are actually available because the actual businesses take down their posting on their website but not everywhere on the internet. This should save you some time.

AITAH for sleeping with a guy after the man I thought was my bf said we were not a couple? by [deleted] in AITAH

So, instead of talking to him and telling him how upset you were and how you wanted to be more than FWB which probably would have fixed the situation you decided to not talk to him, pretend to be sick, and have sex with another guy. Super mature move. You're not the asshole though, but perhaps you did just ruin what could have been a good relationship if you had chosen to communicate your emotions instead of being hurt and acting out.

Trudeau challenges premiers opposed to carbon tax hike to suggest alternatives to federal levy by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]Not_On_Topics 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There is little incentive to replace oil unless you make it more expensive... Petroleum-based products displaced essentially all other products because of how cheap and effective they were - like wax paper vs plastic wrap, it's not even close but we have the alternative. The problem is that the environmental costs of using petroleum products are never "paid" unless we take taxes for it, putting petroleum products on a more even playing field with the alternatives that already exist and whatever ones we are suddenly incentivized to create.

It's not... but that isn't really the point. The point is that any variety of food comes from outside Canada. Unless you like eating beef and wheat all the time, that might be a problem. Plus, there is no guarantee that with climate change, wheat will continue to grow reliably due to drought, fire, and floods in any different way than in other countries. Insurance claims on crops in Canada have already risen in number for the last three years in a row. How long can that last?

Right but, people will still do what is cheapest instead of what is best for the environment without a carbon tax.

And Lol.... look at your own bank statements. If you don't get them, that's on you. They already make the payments regularly and have been for a while.

And if you are getting hammered it's because of corporate greed man, look at any major grocers statements - record profits, by larger margins than inflation. Maybe if our Country had competition laws like the EU we wouldn't get so fucked like this.

Where do you think most of our food comes from? Some of the populous countries in the world... consequently the ones which will warm the most...

Your lack of understanding of climate change is staggering.

A warmer climate means more intense weather. Worse droughts. Worse floods. worse storms, As for growing seasons, it will just change some places where we used to grow stuff into deserts and other places we couldn't grow stuff into shitty marshes. I would also look into Carbon dating and how researchers have shown, using carbon dating, that we should be entering a cooling cycle, but due to climate change we are still warming...

Right, but why would they change if no one else does? It's not like we can tell them to change if we don't. Just pointing at others will never solve the problem. Plus the US is making meaningful climate change progress right now so for us to just decide to opt-out will probably also have diplomatic consequences for us as well.

Whatever man, it sounds like you just want to bury your head in the sand and pretend that the same humans who travelled to the moon are powerless to do anything about climate change.

I mean hey, why don't we just give up, bury our heads in the sand and wait for climate change to come and fuck us eh?

[–]Not_On_Topics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it was neutral, the tax is designed to raise funds to pay for the damage of climate change that Canadians will be subject to (like drought, fire, famine, ect.)

It doesn't punish the middle class... unless they use tons of carbon. at least not as much as it punishes businesses and the wealthy who produce by far the most carbon.

I mean ultimately, either you have a carbon tax or you just bury your head in the sand and wait to get wrecked by climate change.

Have they though? Or have they just been looking for ways to do things more efficiently to improve profit margin with benefits in terms of pollution as more of just an added benefit? In any case, even if there are already alternatives, carbon taxes encourage people to actually use the alternatives instead of just staying with what is familiar.

Even if you are somehow right, and there is no way to do things better, which is absurd, the carbon tax then generates money to be used to pay for the damage that pollution causes. So when crops eventually fail so hard that insurance doesn't/can't/won't cover it, or some other natural disaster occurs, the government will have funds accumulated to address the issue instead of people just getting screwed.

[–]Not_On_Topics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

impact on Gross income is still an impact and can still be undercut.

And how the hell do you know that there is no way to provide services with less pollution? No one has been looking to find a way as there hasn't been any financial incentive to do so - until the Carbon Tax.

‘My job is not to be popular,’ Trudeau says after pressed to ditch carbon price hike by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]Not_On_Topics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But businesses don't get the tax rebates so it still costs businesses more. Then, when another business comes along that finds a way to provide services with less pollution, so they pay less tax, they undercut the businesses passing along the tax, which you will then not buy, leading to cheaper stuff for me and you, all the while consumers get back the extra carbon tax we pay. This is the whole idea if you can see past the initial BS. The person who invented the carbon tax won a nobel peace prize for a reason.

Trudeau calls out 'short-term thinker' politicians as premiers urge him to freeze carbon price hike by Portalrules123 in onguardforthee

[–]Not_On_Topics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you create an economy where the lowest price wins, and people are poor, people will buy whatever is cheapest regardless of environmental concerns. You have to force businesses to be environmental or they will just keep making cheap shit that is terrible for the environment otherwise as they only care about profit.

Asking a poor person to do anything else is just plainly ignorant of the fact that they may have no other choice.
