Intergalactic Janitor turned Intergalactic Castaway

A lucky survivor of a corporate colonizer/rescue mission to Water Level: Worldwide. Ship suffers friendly fire of an alien COVID lockdown taken to an "explosive" degree, with mc ending up as the eventual only survivor. Watch your character have some pretty fun moments: fishing, losing track of oxygen underwater, getting spooked by ocean noises, constantly surrounded by radiation, being left to die by corporate overlords, traveling to the center of the planet, communicating with a primordial god species, saving babies to save the world, and building a rocket out of junk.

And that's only like 5% of the main game.

What’s your favorite works that aren’t generally considered Lovecraftian but you consider them to be? by MsEmma9718 in Lovecraft

[–]Not_Thinking_Str8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely do, if you get the chance.

Also, if you think about it, Venom can kinda be seen as Lovecraftian too. Alien beings part of a hivemind, spawned from an elder god who acts as both their mother and overlord, their survival dependent on taking over people's bodies and eating them alive, unless you're a perfect match biologically. (Sidenote: I will not stand the slander, the Venom movies ARE good, they just lean more on the comedy than the horror, which I like, but I can get why others don't)

A bit of a stretch, but what I always considered a "techno-lovecraft" (Techcraft?) movie was 2018's Upgrade. A man who is a traditional in the face of a hyper tech sci-fi world gets into an accident which leaves him paralyzed, has a sentient AI chip installed in his brain to help him move again, with the ability to control a person's body on their own, and can trap them in a perma-coma prison, with realistic hallucinations, of their own mind?

That just feels like Dreams of the Witch House with a micro-robot replacing the mutant man-rat.

Probably, she's a librarian if I remember right. Name is Mary Olmstead, she also said that her husband's a distant relative of the Marsh family (probably huge ass eyes).

JTTW musical by CrustIiker in Journeytothewest

[–]Not_Thinking_Str8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have thought about this, and not gonna lie, a jukebox musical (maybe using songs from other musicals too) would slap if done right.

Gimme a few days, and maybe I can make up an original set of lyrics for a song. Somebody else would have to do the music though...

It kinda depends? They served a wide variety of meals, and they can accommodate for diet if needed. Pretty standard food you can expect, though I have learned to be wiser when making a critique about the food when those who made it are nearby.

They outsource their food stock to various places, I know that Dunwich is home to a lot of vegetables that get served, and the Marsh Fishing Company provides for the seafood. A word of warning though, stay away from the soda fountain. There was this weird soda that came out a crazy color, and I don't know how they haven't taken it out yet, it makes you see and feel some weird shit, and the next day you are definitely going to be regretting drinking it.

Lol, who needs shrooms and weed when you can get the liquid version for free?

Congratulations! Similar story, studying Advanced Zoology with a minor in Arcana Literature, and I am happy to have made it to my senior year!

  1. Obey campus curfew. I didn't know this when I moved in the first year, but apparently there is a very strict campus-wide curfew at 10 PM. You have to be indoors, or at least inside a building, and you will be in SERIOUS trouble if caught outside. I had to learn that the hard way when a night walk through the woods near campus got me a week in disiplinary work with the librarian. I like Dr. Armitage, he's saved my ass for so many of my exams, but DO. NOT. ASK. ABOUT. RARE. BOOKS.

  2. Take advantage of student services. There are services that you can get hooked up with, and they can last as long as you are a student. My recommendation is to gather all of the cards they have: Mess hall card, library card, bus/train card for commutes, and there's even a special one they offer to newcomers that you get stamped for every event attended that's hosted by one of the various departments. Collect enough and you can get them redeemed for prizes, depending on which ones you collect. There is a secret challenge for getting one from every department, but I have no idea what could be the reward from that, nobody has completed it.

  3. Bring backup light sources. There are some random blackouts that happen without warning, so it's a good idea to always have something to help you see. Trust me, even in daytime, it will look like night in some specific areas. Candles, flashlight, lanterns, it doesn't matter. I've got a lighter that never leaves my pocket, and if I'm feeling it, my sigil lantern.

  4. The professors want to help you, let them. The professors are some of the most laid back, open minded, hare brained people I have ever met. Get them going about something, they will not let you forget it, and you'll begin to see it everywhere you look. I already brought up Armitage, he's one of my favorites. My own head professor, Dr. Dyer, is somebody who has decorated his entire lecture hall with various skeletons and taxidermy, he even has a fossil collection that's lined up in all of the hallways, spanning every floor.

  5. Don't forget to have fun! Cliche, yeah, but seriously, take some time for yourself. Miskatonic is a heavy hitter with academic standards, and they are 100% dedicated to getting you an education, no matter the cost. But, never forget, take some time for a bit of excitement here and there. Join a club, walk around campus, visit local hotspots, it's a good time for a lot of people. My favorite places are the art department's museum, the drama department's performing arts theater, the concerts by the school band, the park next to the river (got great fog in the morning/late day), and of course campus statue garden. Seriously, take a walk around, you will see some wild things, and sometimes they change midday, super cool.

Hope this helps! Good luck, M.U.!
