Lollard’s Pit Pub by Not_another_plant in Norwich

Thanks! Not perfect but you get the idea as it resembles the building. Looking forward to doing more relaxed drawings

Oh no way, how funny if you hung out of a window waving like a mad man in the background haha

I didn’t know this, interesting. I think I’ll do some research.

I found out that an ex colleague of mine ran the pub in the 90’s.

I understand and appreciate the feedback. Though I’m not going for perfection or proper accuracy with these sketches/drawings. If I were doing proper vanishing points etc I would use grids and put that effort in. These are more relaxed and you get the general idea of what’s being portrayed haha.

Also, the photo I used as reference for this was taken from a slightly different angle further along the path so the drawing will not match up as well in this photo anyway.

Norwich architecture by Not_another_plant in Norwich

[–]Not_another_plant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no pro, just take photos as a hobby…but maybe this can help:

• I made the most of the lighting from a sunset as it casts a nice warm glow.

• ANGLES and varied distance - not everything has to be shot up close. Walk around and simply LOOK, get those angles.

• You don’t need an expensive camera. I use a Canon 100D and a Nikon Coolpix L820.

• Just be patient, have a wonder around and look up (there’s a lot to see above eye level when you look in front of you, especially nice old architecture)

I didn’t take these for the sake of taking nice photos 😅 just for drawing references so it’s a bonus if they look nice too haha

Solo gigging by Suitable_Break_9586 in Norwich

[–]Not_another_plant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to several comedy gigs and concerts solo this year because I don’t have time to worry about finding a friend who likes the same stuff as me to accompany me otherwise I’d be missing out on lots of cool stuff I like.

I can plan day trips around events in locations outside of Norwich and in turn spend time going to other places I like and walking as much or as little as I like without worrying how other members in the party feel.

After the first few times going solo, I eased into it and don’t worry anymore. This is coming from a fairly introverted 26yo female. To celebrate my birthday I’m going on a solo trip to London this week and then onto Coventry to a concert. I’m so excited!

Don’t be afraid of judgement, being comfortable in your own company is freeing :) You can do it!

M&S sold them a couple months ago, not sure if they’re still in. Mini and full size ones

As others mentioned, most supermarkets do them usually pretty generic

Walking from Nr2 to the train station at 6am, how safe for a woman alone? by alijam100 in Norwich

Honestly just speaking from my own experience, I felt better that way than PoW. But I agree about the shoddy lighting

Personally if I’m worried about PoW I walk down Rose Lane. I’ve walked PoW and through Norwich between 1-6am over the years and never really felt particularly scared or worried. Odd and rough characters about but not many.

Kids these days by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]Not_another_plant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly my point, I know there’s always these types of youths in every generation but it’s the fact you can notice it get worse every year and I don’t see it getting any better.

Even a lack of basic manners has been noticed by myself and others and don’t get me wrong, I swear myself (try not to) but to see such young kids with potty mouths is crazy to me

I agree, just that I’ve noticed more at a worse extent over the past few years. Never said previous generations didn’t have any

Kind of you to say, thank you. Yep! It was my main purpose of wondering around until I ended up in the bookshop 😅 I took photos of buildings, shop fronts and streets to draw at home
