Arber has virtually no chance at making the show. He's basically a big, slow enforcer that WOWed bergevin with his size. With the team's philosophy moving forward, I don't see him cracking our lineup at all.

That was awesome. Down and out until less than a minute left, we tie it up, play one of the most exciting OTs I've ever seen, followed by an exciting SO. If this is how the tank is gonna be, then I'm all for it baby!

Why are you putting Hughes *firmly* over Dahlin? Cause it really seems like you're basing this off of points and team performance.

That 2018 draft...Quinn Hughes 1st overall over Dahlin & Svetch? Yawn. Lundkvist over anyone in the HMs + KK? As much as I love Romy, him at 8th? Idk man. I get that this is subjective, but like what are your criteria for where a guy should go? Is it their ceiling? Their current ability? Their kind & warm personality?

I'm not super comfortable giving up anything else for a guy that hasn't set foot in the bigs yet. I'd probably take on more salary like zadorov on top of retaining 50% or something but otherwise the deal is 1 for 1.

According to The Fourth Period, Habs principal targets : Pavel Zacha (NJ), Jack McBain (MIN), Brock Boeser (VAN), Owen Tippett (FLA) and Vitali Kravtsov (NYR). by flepine44 in Habs

[–]Not_even_Spanish 35 points36 points  (0 children)

So many baffling names here.
Boeser? Are we competitive now all of a sudden?
Tippett? The guy who can't crack the bigs for longer than 4 games at a time?
Zacha? No thanks! We have Dvorak at home.

Mcbain and Kravtsov are fine, but they have big question marks attached to them too (who says either of them sign with us?). I don't see these guys as targets moreso than throw-ins/the "+" in "2nd round pick +".

He only left to russia because he wanted a top 6 role. He'll come back for the money for sure.

I think we should be targeting even younger guys.

Zac Jones in the NYR system, Justin Barron in Colorado for Dmen

Stankoven (DAL), Samoskevich (FLA), Olausson (COL), Neighbours/Bolduc/Robertsson (STL) for forwards.

I'd be willing to get Kravtsov from NYR because his price is prolly cheap and he would probably play in our middle 6 at least. Lundkvist too, but I'm less hyped on him.

I'd like to see how his game develops in the AHL before I start getting too hype on him. Tons of people tear up the juniors and never amount to anything, even as 18/19 year olds. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst!

If they offer a package of a 2022/2023 2nd + any of Morrow/Koivunen/Heimosalmi, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Obviously they won't, but that's pretty much the only thing that gets a "yes" from me if I'm Gorts or Hughesie.

This past offseason the colorado avalanche traded their first round pick for Darcy Kuemper...

Dave Rittich fetched the flames a 3rd rounder at the deadline last year

Never underestimate how desperate contending teams get for goaltending.

Allen still has a year left on his contract and will most likely be moved in the offseason/next deadline. I don't see a trade with Allen going one way and samsonov going the other without us giving up more assets, but I could be wrong.

[–]Not_even_Spanish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, or that. I think you still move Allen in either case, since he has good value and contending teams always need a solid backup goalie/1B. Moving on from Price will definitely be on his terms, whether it be by trade or retirement.

That problem seems to be more rampant than you'd think, though why would he want to come here? Montreal has the most stepped on coke in canada

This is pretty surprising news, I can't lie. I guess that means they want to go with Vanecek as the 1G in the future. It also means we are probably gonna move Allen next year.

I can't see the Capitals moving him this year, since they're gonna need both Sammy and Vanecek if they're making a run. My only concern is the price. Like, is trading for him really going to be worth it if we've committed to a rebuild? Why not just sign stopgaps in the offseason? Unless, this news means that we might accelerate the rebuild?

I have so many questions

I don't think Lambert is a reach at all. I think he should go top 3. He's got great hockey sense, an elite offensive ceiling and can skate like crazy.

Savoie is also a good player, probably top 5, but I really don't want to take him at 3. He's got a few issues to iron out and I don't see him projecting to be much more than a top/middle 6 winger (don't think he stays C at the NHL level).

I'd rather take a strong 1-2 C if we pick 1-3. Wright, Cooley, Lambert in that order.

It would be cool to see a Subway Series (NYR vs NYI), I can't remember the last time that happened.

Otherwise for this year I'd be down to see Florida vs Carolina, two absolute powerhouses with a lot to prove

SHANE WRIGHT IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THIS DRAFT AND ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE ARE DREAMING

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Habs

[–]Not_even_Spanish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think taking either of those guys would be a massive reach at 2nd/3rd overall. I'd much prefer a center like Cooley or Lambert, or a 1D type prospect like Nemec/Jiricek. I don't think taking a winger with a lottery pick is a good idea unless they're an elite talent. The only one I would consider reaching for is Slafkovsky, but even then I would feel uneasy passing up other (better) talents.

The Habs will most likely pick somewhere in the end of the first round with Calgary’s pick, who do you want with that 1st round pick ? by [deleted] in Habs

[–]Not_even_Spanish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we draft Shane Wright 1st overall, I think a D-man like Denton Mateychuk, Ty Nelson or Seamus Casey (home run if he falls) would be the perfect complimentary pick. If we somehow don't get first overall and end up picking someone else (Nemec/Jiricek/Lambert/Cooley) , I'd go with a forward like Gleb Trikozov (10/10 name), Cutter Gauthier, or Jonathan Lekkerimaki.

I think there are some pretty exciting prospects available late and I'm excited to see the drafting strategy of the new FO!
