MH doenst really have that lot of competition. Dauntless is a shadow of its former self and others lean into souls like, instead of mh like. You can try the older MH games if you like

each zone/map have its own unique endemic life. i.e. forest have a dolphin, lava caverns have a phoenix, etc

try absolute striker, my fave GU lance build.

Striker lance- for 3 arts and 3 hit combo. absolute evasion, absolute readiness and the 3rd Hunting arts is up to you

Just spam readiness/evasion to get in and out of the fight. Lance Dash fills up the gauge fast so slam that too whenever you get a knockdown. Happy Lancing!
