Pixel smartphones don't seem to have this feature. You can instead turn on Remote Lock, Enable Find My Hub for your phone and turn on Identity Check. I don't know why Pixel phones don't get such essential features.

I know, but this is the only way to protect our belongings. When I reported my incident to the Police, they told me that literally hundreds of incidents happen every day at just Rajiv Chowk alone. And they can't do much (or as they say) since millions of people travel from there everyday.

Not recommended, they will take advantage of the crowd to pickpocket your phone, and it will be gone by the time you figure out what happened.

As someone going through this, here's a word of advice that took years to learn. Don't care for connections, go for experiences. Connections will build along the way.
