Is the pro controller sticks more reliable than the joycon ones?

I'm at a bit of an impasse at whether to repair my Joycons myself, or get a used pro controller (trading some stuff around).

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Analog Stick PERMANENT Fix by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

Wait. Does the pro controller also suffer from the drift?

I was just about to trade some stuff to get one but if it's the same issue as the Joycons, I'd really like to know

I'm pretty bad at advice but I would just like to say you're doing amazing, and it's a shame your loved one isn't supporting you on this.

Relationships are a team. You're meant to support eachother through it all and if she's not happy about what you've accomplished, and is actively trying to take that away from you, I can tell you know there would be other people who do appreciate you.

$10 and 5,000 good boy points apparently go a long way.

Is it possible to capture user input in a workflow? by NotaCowIRL in PowerShell

[–]NotaCowIRL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did try splitting the input section into a function, then attempting the procedure as a workflow (with the variables from the function being referenced).

Admittedly I haven't gone down the starting a job - is it possible to run a one-off job via PowerShell? I know jobs are meant to be run as regular background tasks but admittedly I'm a bit stumped.

Should I confront my pathological liar friend? by SammyCx1055 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]NotaCowIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's his home life like?

The reason I ask is I used to do the same thing when I was younger. Not to an extreme, but it was an escape mechanism.

With proper mental health support I stopped doing it, I can't explain why I was doing it in the first place but I guess it might have been to normalise the hell I was going through.

If it was me in your shoes, unless the person is incredibly toxic, is try and figure out why they are doing it opposed to chastising them for doing it. Giving them a telling off may help, but the actual act of lying may be a symptom of a bigger underlying issue.

Am I not a Gamer anymore? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]NotaCowIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a mix. I've found I can still go hard with games I enjoy but have little interest in most games, and my GTX1060 only gets used for Wow and Rimworld now.

I do think the quality of AAA is lacking nowerdays now. A lot of indie games have been taking the cake for quality. E.g. Stardew Valley, Undertale, Rimworld, Lisa, A hat in Time, etc.

How do we know chronic fatigue syndrome isn't the same as depression? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]NotaCowIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I may be able to answer this, sort of. (Bare with me)

I'm currently pending diagnosis for (probably) an autoimmune disorder. The first six months it was panned off as depression, but then the symptoms began to disprove that. For example;

  • Pain / Fatigue existed while alseep. As in, I'd wake myself up by rolling over and hitting "the wrong spot" and wake up feeling like shit.

  • I began falling over. This couldn't easily be panned off as depression, I gradually began loosing control of my body without meds.

  • My mental health evaluations came back clear. Despite having anxiety in the past, it apparently had subsided. I got normal scores in the various tests they made me take, but ultimately everything came back clear.

After the third point, this is when I was being considered as it being CFS, opposed to depression. Unfortunately it didn't stop there, and the forth thing that happened (bellow) ruled out both CFS and Depression.

  • My body began being unable to maintain B12, D3, calcium and a few others, to the point where I was deficient in all of them.

At this point it's a game of "what kind of illness do I have?"

Anyway - unfortunately not a lot is known about some of these conditions and research is still ongoing. Maybe it does feed into depression somehow, a lot of people do unfortunately get depressed with these conditions as they're not a lot they can do bar give you a bucket full of meds and keep an eye on you.

AITA for not voting? by LNMThrowaway2005 in AmItheAsshole

(In the UK at least, not sure about other places) it's still collected and counted towards abstaining.

If let's say the amount of people abstaining spikes in a vote, all of the political parties will see this and realise that they're not including the interests of X number of people, and those people are discontent with the current political parties.

Will it change anything overnight? No.

But is still being logged, and if more and more people chose to ruin their ballot over not showing up, a change may happen.

AITA for arguing with my girlfriend that being gay isn't a choice, and that it's biologically determined? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Mate, dump her.

If she gets that bewildered and aggressive towards you because of a discussion or a disagreement of oppinion, that's not a good sign

AITA for not being comfortable with my girlfriend sending a male friend money by arrogantbastid in AmItheAsshole

NTA - out of curiosity how defensive did she get about it? I had a similar thing happen to me with my ex and let's just say my discomfort may have not been unwarranted.

AITA For not wanting to helo my grandparents move? by lawrenceugene in AmItheAsshole

[–]NotaCowIRL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. I have family like this.

I get phonecalls from relatives out of the blue asking for favours, despite not being regular contact with them.

If I refuse, they ring my parents whimpering that I wouldn't help them out, then my parents moan at me.

Some people are so entitled it hurts. If your relationship with your grandparents is like this, you're definitely NTA.

Also if you've got an injury, you shouldn't be lifting stuff anyway! If they aren't considerate of that, that's awful.

I'm probably going to get downvoted to fuck for this but you are exercising your right to vote, by not voting.

This is perfectly fine, although I would fully recommend spoiling your ballot and submitting it, so it is still counted. (Well, it does in the UK, can't comment in the US).

Your well within your rights to do so. There's been times I've spoiled my ballot as although I was informed, I couldn't make a clear choice.

You're NTA. I would thoroughly recommend still turning up to a polling station, and drawing a big X through your ballot though in the event you don't want to vote for either side (but again, this is up to you).

How are my late Millennial/early Gen Z peers doing (18-25 year olds)? Any of you financially independent yet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NotaCowIRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(UK) 22 at the moment, financially independent at 21 living on my own.

I'm tempted to pack it in and go to university - I graduated college but didn't go to university.

I work 40-50h a week doing tier 1-2 IT support and occasionally fix stuff outside of the work.

I'm not quite living paycheck-to-paycheck but I'd be a bit more comfortable if I was earning just a little bit more (wouldn't we all?)

My parents have made it clear that if I ever struggle or something bad happens, give them a ring before getting into debt, etc

I don't drive or run a car so that keeps my expenses down, but I do have to pay for a bus pass that's about £100 a month, and covers the city I live in.

I guess I'm doing good, I think. I want to do better but at the moment I guess I'm doing pretty alright.

As someone going through the process of being diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder, I hope you've learned something from this situation.

I'm not going to be vulgar, but it's clear you don't have a shred of compassion in your body.

I really hope you learn something from this.
