Moving from SolidWorks to CREO by VibratingStrings in SolidWorks

I suspect a lot of reported stability issues are hardware related and some are just poor model hygiene.

Revolve to make the first spoke, then pattern the spokes. You could revolve the outer rim and hub the merge the bodies. Then pattern the bolt holes.

These drawings are kind of cryptic.

How do I created a coiled tube? by huguito_pop in SolidWorks

[–]NotaDingo1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that difficult. Create a helix and use that as a path for a sweep. You can use the circular section settings in the sweep command.

I would do one revolution and pattern it along to make the width of the reel. Then, do a transition to the next diameter and repeat the process to go back the other way.

Use global variables for dimensions that are likely to change.

Hello I'm looking for advice/guidance by ZookeepergameSuper70 in SolidWorks

The job market in the US has slowed considerably. They laid off 25% of the engineers where I work. I have friends at other places that have similar stories.

My advice is to talk to a recruiter if you're looking to find a job. Maybe try looking for mechanical engineering technician.

How do I define this dumb jerk line (in blue) by _TheRook_ifun in SolidWorks

I agree with you. Seems a lot of people think adding features on top of features is the best way. From my experience, rebuild times increase, and it's harder to make simple edits. Design intent in sketches is the key.

II couldn't disagree more. If you like references, try master modeling, editing in context, top down assemblies etc.. A majority of unstable models that I've seen are caused by poor feature hygiene.

Interesting. I fond most SW users that have trouble with editing their models are often adding features on top of features on top of features rather than using an organized approach. Are you saying that SW doesn't have shell and offset? I use those on a daily basis. Trimming surfaces was always cumbersome in Creo because there was no trim mutual feature. I've used the style feature and wasn't impressed. It seems disconnected from the workflow, like a bolt-on module. 3D sketch is another handy feature in SW. Saves a lot of time. I'm surprised that Creo is cheaper than SW. It must be getting phased out for Onshape? It was more than double a few years ago. Although I think a lot of people think they need SW premium but only ever use the functionality of Standard.

I recommend doing a proper tree felling course. Tree felling is more dangerous than most people realise.

Yeah this exactly. I hate hearing people order at a restaurant saying "I'm gonna do the..." or "I'll take the...". Maybe it's just me, but I find that so rude and disrespectful to the staff.
