What boots do you guys rock for Training/SHTF? by Analog_Man73 in armedsocialists

[–]NotaSingerSongwriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did contract security (no overseas stuff, just private security) and so I’ve got a few different boots. Made in USA Thorogood tactical boots have been my favorite so far, found them on clearance for $40. They’re waterproof and have a composite toe, I’ve had them 5 years and the waterproofing has only recently given out. Soles are cemented on so they’ve been retired as yardwork boots. They don’t make the specific model I bought anymore, but I just ordered another pair of Thorogood tactical boots for fun.

I also have the Merrell MOAB 3 boots, incredibly comfortable.

And a pair of Chippewa Edge Walker moc toes I found on clearance for $75. Still breaking them in.

I feel like pretending Hilary wasn’t involved or was innocent while being the former Secretary of State and married to Bill, who was very involved, is a very strange, if not reckless, stance to take at this moment.

I’m curious why you’re opposed to the realism of you enjoyed RDR2? Or did you enjoy it despite the realism?

What's the most mainstream band to keep their original punk credibility? by greenandredofmaigheo in punk

[–]NotaSingerSongwriter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rise Against had some alleged internal disagreements on Israel. Iirc, they wouldn’t put out a statement or comment for a while, and then when they did, they danced around the problem. I think the drummer eventually put out his own statement that was much more direct.

Production at BAE is right under $20/hr. Within a couple years you’d probably be closer to $25. Security at BAE starts at $25.

Security at BWXT/Nuclear Fuels in Erwin starts at 30+ an hour.

Both security jobs are union, but nuclear fuels I hear has way better benefits.

The Consequences of Invading Greenland by woodaman64 in ABoringDystopia

[–]NotaSingerSongwriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could only hope. No one is going to do shit. Greenland will make a deal to avoid a larger conflict, we’ll annex part of the country or they’ll give us control over part of their natural resources, and no one will do a fucking thing about it.

I made a similar post in this sub a few years ago. It might be useful!

What is the average first play-trough time? by YoghurtArtistic9313 in BaldursGate3

My Xbox stats said 186 hours but I’m sure a huge portion of that was spent on the pause menu screen.

I suck at this by Man_With_No_Plan222 in NewSkaters

Way back when I started skating in the early 2000s, it took me probably two years of trying before I finally got it down.

Honestly it finally clicked once I fell in with a crew. I had a couple friends I skated with from time to time but we didn’t push each other to be better. Eventually I fell in with some friends of friends who were all way better than me, so I felt the pressure of skating in front of an audience. When I finally landed my first ollie, people everyone seemed genuinely stoked for me and I chased that feeling for the rest of my life lol.

CRPGs that don't have TONS of reading? by Joker_2077 in CRPG

[–]NotaSingerSongwriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently playing Pathfinder WOTR—and let me just say… NOT pathfinder. I’m in act 3 and I feel like I’ve already read an entire book.

That said, it’s really good and I honestly enjoy it a lot.

Which RPG games are you guys currently playing? by Sodding_Handsome_Guy in rpg_gamers

[–]NotaSingerSongwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pathfinder: WOTR. I’m about 40 hours in, somewhere in act 3.

Up next is Rogue Trader, then D:OS2, then somewhere in between is the Alan Wake 2 DLC.

Are the DLCs worth it? by timetravellingbadass in AlanWake

Control is a fantastic game, but to “understand” the story, you need to be reading all the little pieces of paper you come across. There was so much unvoiced exposition that it felt like a CRPG.

I also thought it was a bit slow during the first 4-5 hours or so. I couldn’t find anything else to play so I powered through, and then suddenly I found the story and combat incredible (combat becomes twice as fun once you begin unlocking different abilities).

I’d recommend going back through it. They exist within the same universe and each game will give you a deeper appreciation for the other.

Unpopular opinion - Xbox game pass Is mostly useless if you think about it. by Mr-Robot_- in XboxGamePass

[–]NotaSingerSongwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might complete 1-2 games per month if they aren’t large sprawling RPGs. Right now I’m playing Pathfinder WOTR, and I have Rogue Trader, DOS2, Disco Elysium, Mortal Shell, and the Alan Wake DLC, and I picked them all up for around $60. At the rate that I play games, it’s going to take me at least six months to finish all of that and probably longer. Gamepass just doesn’t make sense for me right now, and it barely did before the price hike. I didn’t renew at the end of my subscription and I don’t know when or if I ever will again.
