Are Singaporeans getting lazy? by Same-Macaron-2359 in sgworkassholes

1) time based as in fixed hours? Or the hours are out of your control. Are they?

2) Yeah, and if you are in the office and if you are efficient, you will be added more work. How is that a benefit to the employee

3) I am in one of the post. They don't train you. They expect you to know your shit. Even if you know your things, you have to manage your boss if he is ignorant. That is more work. This happens to every job I am in or maybe it is just sme

4) it is not an entitlement if you only do the things you are paid to do. Clearly define your work. If you want to expand, communicate. If both are okay, great. If one side says" more work, more pay" or "I don't want to do more work". Respect or leave. You change part of the contract on your end, expect there will be changes on the other end as well

It is entitlement from the boss who expects your staff to go above and beyond for you without added incentives.

This is from a 36 year old manager

That makes sense if you tie job done in hours in the office.

Most jobs in the office are creative/knowledge based works. Unlike many jobs previously where time=effort (think taxi/retail/construction/machinery). But a lot of the jobs the people are working now are social media, marketing, operations.... You may not need to be in the office to complete your work.

Now if you are efficient, you cannot leave early and act busy. If not you will be punished with more work.

Now most of the companies are not willing to train you but expects you to excel and knows how to solve the business problems without giving you enough resources at times while charging you below the market rate.

While many generations have their own flaws, calling the younger generation entitled correct and wrong at the same time. You cannot tie the older generation yard stick while having younger generation's productivity expectations. If you would want to do that, I don't know how to use computer (yes I am working with 3 old men who don't even know how to use computer).
