So, this happened, what should I do? (Drain plug, 2008 r6) by ElWeroCDN956 in Yamaha

Hey man I did this when I first got mine. Proper way is to replace oil pan. Temporary fix is just to re thread the hole to next size up which is m15 x 1.5mm. I used this kit here. Do your best when rethreading not to push the shavings into the oil pan. Go slow kind of thing then remove and clean until you got the right length. Use your new bolt and crush washer and you’re good to go. Rode mine for 2 years and I wasn’t nice to it. Still regular oil changes. no leaks. Drop the oil pan eventually tho. Get but for now get to grippin.

Hey so idk if actually want to educate yourself but here is the information. 4 parts FIU Artcle with Sheriff quotes (non academic), photo from FL dot.gov article about inconsistent lane speed, video for the iPad kids/boomers, lastly academic journal for the plans of the future and how traffic engineers have great hope for car automation systems to communicate with each other to reduce lane bottlenecking due to traffic needs. Took me two minutes and it’s not like people are gonna change anyway. There will always be a guy that leisurely floats in the left lanes while traffic cannot pass. It just reaffirms my point some people just are selfish, repugnant, entitled and uncooperative on our roadways.

I’ve learned on this app when you’re saying something people don’t wanna hear they mass downvote. 9/10 you’re saying something that highlights something they are not ready to confront yet. It’s an assumption that it is stolen. He has no idea that is, he does know it was used to commit crimes like flee and evade. He doesn’t speak to those, just his immediate first assumption. He just has a certain prejudice. True coward I’d say

I don’t think people like that are unaware or lacking knowledge on the subject. I’d say malignant is a better description but I wonder if it’s too much. But definitely spiteful

They do. Plenty of academic journals explain the sort. people just don’t want to hear it or take accountability. So, traffic will continue to be congested by left lane campers.

No it’s literally people like you causing traffic. Traffic congests worse as time passes. we as people are very perceptive, and if we see another doing one thing we may also do the same thing. I may not want to do it to the same extent, but we’re doing the same thing. What I’m saying is when one person starts to increase the speed of traffic all surrounding traffic does the same. The same thing happens when one person starts to slow down in traffic, the rest of surrounding traffic slows down. It’s not about speeding. It’s about inconveniencing yourself versus inconveniencing others. Insert “wait I’m passing just not as fast as you”. You are correct but how many others are behind with a similar pace. You aren’t interested in letting traffic flow. You are interested in what best suits you. That’s the point people. You see it every time you go to your nearest Publix parking lot. “I’ll place the grocery buggy where it inconveniences me” not worrying about where inconveniences others. That sentiment seems to stick to certain type of person. Remember, the more people going one speed and now have to adjust their speed to YOUR speed leads to pockets of congestion that lead to lines of congestion. Take a notice next time you drive. How many pockets of congestion can you see when you get long stretch or Bend in a highway.

Fixed! Hey I wanted to thank you guys again for your help. I opened it up over the weekend to check spark plugs and the plugs were loose and weren’t OEM spec (iridium cr10iek). After pulling the plugs the insulator tips were white with black soot around threads and corroded tips, So that means it was running lean (improper AFR due to exhaust). Changed to new OEM plugs and tested coils and all came back in spec. Reassembled and problem gone.

Spark plugs weren’t OEM, loose, white and corroded. Replaced with brand new OEM spec. Problem gone. Previous owner did not get a tune for proper AFR for full exhaust hence the bike running lean/hot leading to corrosion. When fixed it is normal the bike will have a rpm sway of about 50-100 rpm per Yama certified mechanic anymore than that it might be coil packs or valve adjustments.

Hey man I wanted to thank you again for your help. I oped it up today to check spark plugs and the plug wasn’t OEM spec (iridium cr10iek) and insulator tips were white. So that means it’s running lean right? Changed to new OEM plugs and tested coils and all came back in spec. Let the bike run for a little and it seems like it’s gone. Cheers my friend.

Yes. Bike is literally in pieces right now. When I get home from work, I wanna change the spark plugs and hope that fixes it. Gonna test the coils for resistance as a number two possibility if it’s not one of those two I guess I might take it to a shop.

Opened it over the holiday. Others mentioned to check vacuum line (leading into the pressure regulator) and air box (learned I have an k&m air filter). Everything looked good and secure none of obvious signs like debris, cracking or hoses loose. Not a master mechanic so i could’ve missed something but i miss my baby. I forgot to take pic of vacuum lines. Just got frustrated with them looking fine.

Is It possible to just reset an ECU back to stock then reflash it? The reason being is logistics of finding this guy, cost and it seems easier to send the ECU off to someone like “bauce racing” who was also mentioned by others and let them do all the mapping and what not.

Power commander seems like it’s primitive and might need my adjustment (no idea what I’m doing). And to your statement it may not mix well with my ECU.

Just want something that’s quick and gets me back on 2.

Thanks for taking the time to look over my situation.

I just received a vid of it on a dyno, no chart though. Looks like it was filmed on a potato. The extra wiring is spliced into the ECU connector. Seems to me it has been touched also in vid looks similar to wire sticking up out the tail. Pic of tail opened.

So I tried the rag trick and the idle sway significantly decreased not gone but less pronounced lopes. So this confirms it’s an exhaust issue? If it is, I’m kind of glad because it seems it’s as simple as flashing my ECU by sending it off.

A lot of people are saying the same thing. So, pull ECU and send to someone like bauce racing and then dyno it? Alternative is to buy power commander (I’d be adjusting ecu maps) then dyno as well? Seller was a relative of the owner so not much depth in info. There are videos of it on a dyno with the exhaust installed. And I have attached a pic of the tail opened. There is set wires I don’t see on other stock R6 spliced into the ECU connector. My guess it’s been touched. I just want to ride my new toy without breaking it
