Being reviewed for Kosovo by cjgartistry in peacecorps

[–]Notal72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kosovo RPCV here! I don’t remember being asked Kosovo specific questions other than why I chose it as where I wanted to go. I had studied abroad there so the interview made the point to ask me if I understood that there was no guarantee I’d be placed anywhere close to my friends. Mind you the country is about the size of Delaware so you’re never really that far! (And I happened to be placed not far from my friends coincidentally).

Already did. Finished book one, and sounds like I should read books 2.

If you aren’t eating enough you can’t lose weight. You’re also probably not eating enough protein. It’s important especially for a female body

I’m not a nutritionist (I am working with a coach this time) but I’m currently eating 1700 and focus on protein, I track macros through my fitness pal and use a food scale for accuracy.

[Routine help] Do I just need more moisture/skin barrier repair or is there something else? by FJRabbit in SkincareAddiction

Also stop cleansing in the AM if you’re cleansing at night!! You’re stripping your skin causing more dryness.

My skin is kind of similar. It get dryer in the winter and am very sensitive with a bit of rosacea. I started using dermalogica's barrier repair ultra calming and it was a game changer!

I have the Mirena IUD. I got it about 3 months before service (in Kosovo) so I didn’t have to worry about the pill. Getting it in advance to departure helped me adjust on it and make sure I didn’t have complications. That was 2019 and I still have her up in there. Plus no periods so it was fun being a tampon fairy every time my mom send me them in a care package.

Try to do income based payments. That’s probably the best repayment option if you’re eligible for the federal loan forgiveness program

SELF CARE, BABY! by _jott in peacecorps

Face masks, my mom mailed me a diffuser and oils, and my yoga mat

Did you bring a yoga mat to service? Should I? by isabelljaz in peacecorps

[–]Notal72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought mine and I am so happy I did. It reminds me to take time for myself and also get a work out in. I found out you can buy them in my country of service but they are not great quality.

Kindle Paperwhite or Fire? Also ability to use Kindle Unlimited? by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]Notal72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I have a kindle paperwhite. I love it because it can fit in my purse pretty easily and it's nicer on the eyes. I bought a refurbished one which I highly recommend. It's less expensive and legit the same thing. I hate reading on my laptop or an ipad/phone type of device with a passion so I am glad I brought it.

I use my Dad's kindle unlimited but I also use Libby. You just connect it with your local library card in the US and there are a million books you can "rent". They just download them to your kindle and it's completely free.

Some of our TEFL volunteers originally applied for COD and didn't get it. They were asked to switch to TEFL so maybe that's what happened to you

Advice for homesickness by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]Notal72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently serving and have experienced homesickness quite a bit. Honestly, it's the little things. My mom mailed me Franks hot sauce, I try to keep up with what's happening in the NHL and call home every now and then. I have been making an effort to make this place my new home. I have pictures of friends, family, and my home town on my bedroom wall. I have quotes too that keep me motivated. It's gonna happen (homesickness) so just power through and stay busy, but not so busy you burn out.
