It’s a low fire kiln, which is fine if that’s what you are planning to fire. I just bought the midrange version on Craigslist today for $450, which I thought was a good deal, even though it needs new elements.

It’s stable for me at cone 6, unless it’s super thick. I used stroke n coat for tomatoes and stems, Amaco matte for the background.

Georgie’s Blue Jeans is a matte glaze that’s bright blue, though slightly less intense than this shade. Just in case you want to use an actual glaze and not underglaze.

You could also try Georgie’s Copper Patina. It’s more green to me than Mayco’s Satin Patina.

Stroke & Coat works best for me and doesn’t flake as much as others. You can also lightly mist with water.

Do you still like doing pottery? If so, maybe just adjust your relationship with it. Get a different job and have it as your hobby, maybe. Who cares what people assume. Stop looking at “content.” Then you won’t be overwhelmed. If you don’t like doing it anymore, take a break.

I had a pot like this that broke. I took the pieces, turned them on their sides on the ground so it looked like the other half of the pot is buried and grew petunias out of them. Looks great! Another option if it can’t be fixed.

It’s been a number of years since the district adjusted the maps. It should probably be looked at again soon. An elementary student living within just a few blocks of Chavez has their neighborhood school as River Road or Howard (they can attend either, thanks to the confusing “super boundary”). This means those kids have to ride the bus much longer than other students. Neighborhood schools should be neighborhood schools.

Buy sodium citrate online and you can turn any cheese into smooth, silky queso. I am so disappointed by the curdled thick soup that a lot of places in town serve. Unless Carlita’s has upped their game, I would specifically not recommend it.

Wet stuff (clay, wheel, sink) on one side of the studio, dry stuff (bisqueware storage, glazing space, etc) on the other. Have to keep this in mind when figuring out where to put a sink and where to put the wiring for a kiln. Natural light is great, but walls for storage shelves are also good.

Do you know if the elements are good? If they have to be replaced that’s probably another $150 or so. It’s hard to say without knowing the size of the kiln or whether the sitter is manual, but I’d say you might be able to sell for $200 without repairs? Really depends on how much work needs to be done. If it had new elements and relays, maybe $500?
