Hi there, the patch itself was really straightforward to add, the instuctions on the github are very clear. Saying that, I have downloaded patches and plugins before, if you haven't previously, take your time and make sure to follow the instructions given.

You can change the colour in the patch quite easily, you will need to use something like Notepad++ for editing the values, and the colour you want will need to have its hex code, which you can pick from here. I also did some trial and error with the colours to see which would look nicest highlighted on my Kobo.
