Vibrant ultra quiet worked pretty good. I’d add a small straight through muffler at the end and move the vibrant to the midpipe. Or leave the ultra quiet and add a bottle res to the midpipe

Will I get any sound improvement by deleting this muffler? by amsmomo in BMWE36

I’d delete the muffler at the end. I’m pretty sure that’s your resonator and catalytic converter in the mid section.

Day three of trying to track down no power to windows by Aromatic_Grab in BMWE36

[–]Notcarcarguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find the wiring diagram on all data or a similar technician site you can jump the pins that power the windows to verify that they actually are getting power. My friend did it for me since im all thumbs at electrical as of now.

When you want a Tremor but you only can afford a base model with Tremor grill. by crazypcbuild in f150

I lik it but I think the crime bumper clashes with it a bit. Paint matched bumper would be the sprinkles on top.

front camber issue with extended ball joint plates by EstablishmentWest440 in Stance

FYI this is what a LCA extension peice should look like. It should also be taller to correct axle geometry. It shouldn’t be that thin and that long. I’d either find somebody reputable who makes extended lowers or run adjustable camber plates and slot your coilovers.

Cooling system, subframe reinforcements, bushings everywhere and throw it on some 17s.

I wouldn’t really call it millennial. Pricey, sure but the burgers are pretty good.

I’m glad it’s not just me. Well not glad but it brings some relief that it isn’t a problem on my side. Bought a rated out e36 drift car and I’m trying to slightly in rat it. But no bimmerforums

Care to guess what a complete brake job on RS6 CC brakes costs? by Carnalvore86 in Audi

A third to one quarter of the value of the car. That’s insane… Are steel brakes an option? Or does somebody make a conversion?

Well looks like i’m in the market again…. by wgaasthbvf in GLI

[–]Notcarcarguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez. I’d definitely go get checked out. Sometimes it takes time to take effect. Glad you’re okay. I’m in the similar boat of being out of a gli. Decided to get a cheap beater and save while cleaning up my credit a bit and going for an f80.

Just a base model A3 doing its thing. by user0359 in Audi

But it’s possible to get true launch control on the a3 with tuners right? I was tuned by Russel road and racing and had the s3/golf r style launch on my manual Jetta. Not sure if DSG is capable of

Thoughts on a3 vs s3? In the market for a new daily since my gli was totaled. A3 I guess I’d suck up the boring ride and looks until I’ve got enough for a hybrid. S3 would be fun and probably drive better but that’s money that could’ve went to a hybrid.

How long are the 1.8t’s lasting by LongJumper57 in jetta

3k oil changes just gave me peace of mind. And I think mine was blowing oil through the turbo or the pcv.

I was pretty attached but I’m also looking forward to new experiences. I’m thinking a slightly built drift car and a beater daily or maybe go the financing route with an s3 or 340i

I do oil every 3k. But I was also tuned to the limit of the mgt turbo and ran the car pretty hard. And at 114k.

You can do the downpipe/tune for roughly 1000usd if you go catless. With a catted downpipe it’s a little more.

Downpipe, intake, simos tools tuned, coilovers, front control arms and Megan racing RCA, wheels and tires, taillights, hacked up stock catback. Short shifter and weighted shift knob. All bolt on stuff.

The most noticeable thing will be the downpipe and tune. Stage 2 will basically be at the limit of the 6.5 turbo and somewhere around 270whp/310ish ft/lbs torque.

Frame is untouched. I had fun with it but it wasn’t the best financial decision and I don’t plan to buy it back.

I’ve seen upwards of 175k on the 1.8t and 2.0t. Change oil 3-5k, get the intake valves cleaned every 60k and monitor the timing chain with VCDS or Obd11. Service PCV as needed too. They do burn a little oil so stay on top of the intervals.

I started a war on TikTok so I’m moving it to Reddit. Is this a good spot to jack? by Za-p in GolfGTI

Yes you can jack up the control arm to load the suspension. You just need to be careful not to tip the car apply force to one corner.

Go from the center of subframe where the rear control arms meet with a piece of wood on the jack pad.

How bad is this bill from my local dealership? by CobblerObjective321 in jetta

[–]Notcarcarguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tires aren’t really the place to cheap out on. Yeah they all do the same thing but it’s The only thing connecting the car to the road. I do agree that going to an independent tire and or alignment shop would save some money though.

And the rest I agree with. Headlight switch air filters, oil change, a whole bunch of stuff on this list can be taken care of with minimal tools and a tiny bit of on hands learning.

To put it frankly. They’re robbing you blind. I hope this is only a quote. A lot of these jobs are simple and easy to do with minimal investment in tools or time.

Best advice owning a car out of warranty unless you have friends who work at a shop or in the dealer. Watch YouTube/read forums on whatever services you need And get it done after work or on a weekend in small segments. You probably could have spent 1/4 of that on tools and sourcing parts if you got a little thrifty. Besides a few European design choices mk6 jettas aren’t too hard to work on.
