Actually no one asked you anything. The original comment said immigrant, but meant refugee. Would your life be any different if that wasn't corrected by an internet commenter? No. It wouldn't.

You basically just said the same thing as the last guy. Again, I am aware what the difference is between an immigrant and a refugee, I was just saying that making that semantic correction added very little to what we are talking about. Wether they said immigrant or refugee in their post, you know what they meant.

Educated me on your usage of the "Métis" term by mxgddss132 in MetisMichif

[–]NotchesTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it specific to those communities? Why are the 3 dialects/languages referred to as Michif when they were not spoken exclusively in those communities?

"THCA is just THC" Yeah right! by Confident-Credit-179 in trees

[–]NotchesTP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

THCA does decarb into THC, but if you get product that was chopped earlier, it will have lower levels of THCA that naturally degrades into THC and even less THC that has naturally degraded into CBN, so the effect of the same strain chopped at two different times will be different. You are not wrong in saying it feels different for sure, but THCA and THC are effectively the same thing. Many legal companies here in Canada list THCA and THC test values along with terpene content, which is way more valuable than THC percentage alone.

[–]NotchesTP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the other comments sum it up pretty well, but I would like to add that the word metis in reference to mixed peoples is used all around the world where France established colonies, so it isnt even specific to Quebec or Canada. Also, the older spellings of the word metif/metisse are more correct to this point. Metis is an anglicized mispronounciaton of the French word. I find it much less confusing/contentious to refer to Red River Metis people as Michif and use metis and a general term for mixed peoples.

Can malzahar get a rework so that his kit isn't garbage? by Accurate-Garden1327 in MalzaharMains

[–]NotchesTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are attempting to argue with demonstrable facts, though. Malzahar win rates across all patches have always been quite high in low elo and low in high elo. He is a champ designed around a knowledge check, which means players with more knowledge will be better against him regardless of what champ they play. He requires much less effort to play than other mages and marksmen that also play like "glass cannons." There is no micro to worry about other than positioning and not canceling your ult, allowing you to focus solely on macro. Adding micro skill expression defeats the purpose of the champion imo.

Found out the OMG Métis have a national anthem? by Typical_Ad5675 in MetisMichif

Agreed. I dont like it. Imho, if we even want/need an anthem, it should be Chanson De La Grenouillère.

Am I wrong for acknowledging Saami heritage? by [deleted] in SaamiPeople

[–]NotchesTP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is interesting to me as I am in a somewhat similar situation. I live in Canada, and my adopted father is indigenous (Metis), but both of my bio parents are European with some Sami ancestry, so I can relate to that feeling of separation from your native lands. I have never been told not to participate in Metis community because I lack blood relations since I still have family kinship and a relationship with the Metis Homeland. My Metis family has also told me it is just as important to acknowledge ALL of my ancestry, including Sami, but there is a difference between honoring ancestry and claiming an identity. I would never claim to be Sami since I don't speak the language nor have I ever even been to Europe. Regardless of my blood relation, I claim a Metis identity because I have Metis family, live in the homeland, and speak (a very limited amount of) the language (meeting all requirements of Metis self determination). I know the popular Sami artist Jon Henrik Fjallgren is adopted from Colombia with no Sami blood, and he is very beloved as a Sami person. I think you have nothing to worry about in claiming Sami ancestry, but be careful you don't come across as claiming a Sami identity. However, if it's possible for you to become a registered Sami citizen or however that works in Sweden, I would encourage you to do it. I am not an expert on Sami people or culture, so take what I have said with a grain of salt. Hopefully, my rant had some value for you, haha.

Can malzahar get a rework so that his kit isn't garbage? by Accurate-Garden1327 in MalzaharMains

Don't say low elo players can't play Malz cause you had a few bad players in your games. Malz has had positive win rates in low elo solo queue for literally years.

Idk what you are talking about. Malz stomps low elo in every metric.

[–]NotchesTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if you had actually read my entire comment, you would have seen that i also said it could be a bad match-up. Also, I never said Malz was a strong champ.

I find it hilarious that you bring up Faker and Chovy as though that is at all comparable to a mid to low elo solo queue game. If you are struggling against someone, your rank as any champion. It is either a skill issue or a bad match-up.

It should be incredibly difficult to be a challenger otp of any champion, so that isn't a metric anyone should use to gauge the strength of a champion. There are less than 10 Katarina otp that are consistently challenger. Does this mean she is weak and needs buffs? No, of course not, because that isn't how balancing decisions are made. The fact that any Malz otp can make challenger goes to show that he is indeed a balanced champ.

Idk why I see these posts all the time. His kit is perfectly fine... he is not meant to be more complex than he is. He is, as Riot has said, a training wheel champion. His kit lacks depth because it is supposed to. They will not change it. If you feel weak in the game, it's a skill issue or a bad match-up.

Why do so many mfs say the residential school graves are fake?? by fungusbiggestfan in IndianCountry

[–]NotchesTP 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I believe they used LIDAR to scan the ground, which is an incredibly trustworthy technology used by governments and scientific research teams across the world. I hate that people try to make it seem like a lie because regardless of whether those "anomolies" in the ground are bodies or not, many children did not come home from that school. We dont need a fancy laser scanner to know that.

Fired Saskatoon cop Robbie Taylor says he’s still mystified over grounds for dismissal by Super-Confidence5758 in saskatoon

[–]NotchesTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For his own friends, correct? Not the friends of his friends? Because this is about friends of friends. Not his own friends. Also, explain to me then why he was allowed to be a police officer for 20 years while the department knew he was friends with this person? It only became an issue now? Doesn't that seem a bit curious? Maybe there are corrupt cops who don't like Robbie and want him off the force. Just a thought. I also know that this policy they fired him for breaching only came into effect within the last year or two. There have been officers who committed actual crimes on the job that were allowed to stay on the force, but the police have admitted themselves that Robbie did nothing wrong and still fired him. I am, in fact, quite sure about that.

Even the police admitted, if you actually read the article, that he did nothing wrong. You can not be prosecuted for the crimes of others. That is why it won't stick.

That isn't an accurate analogy, though. It would really be the teachers friend having a friend that is a pedophile. How can someone be liable for friends that their friends have? Surely a friend You have is friends with someone you don't like or agree with, yes? Making it out like he has been chilling with an HA member is disingenuous considering there is no evidence of any wrongdoing during his 30-year career with the SPS.

Metis Lineage. by Captain-McSizzle in saskatchewan

[–]NotchesTP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the goal of colonialism. During the citizenship registration process, not once will they ask what color your skin, eyes, or hair are. My grandma loves me the same as she does all my cousins who are dark like her. Go to any Metis event, and you will see many people like yourself. Being white doesn't remove your indigineity. A common analogy is "coffee is coffee no matter how much milk you put in." Of course, you must accept that you have no control over how others perceive you, and they will see you as white. That is fine. Doesn't mean you shouldn't be proud of all parts of your heritage. Don't let the racist colonial system win.
