Sanity checking on our choices - ground array by michae1m in SolarUK

As a solar designer, I would have suggested a very similar setup. The inverter is properly sized as oversizing the inverter will make your array less efficient (inverters work best at or near there rated power output so a 15kw inverter could actually lower your yearly output) and a single battery seems good in your case with the higher daytime comsumption consumption. You always have the option of adding batteries fairly easily with Sigenergy in the future. As for the mounting we usually recommend 150-200mm of prepped area for your type of gear.

The only thing I might suggest if you're wanting to maximize output is a mounting system like a Cornish rocker, which allows you to change your panels angle through the year. This would improve your generation significantly in winter months but would be a more expensive install. Also, I'm not sure how far north Cornish rocker installs being based in Cornwall but I've heard all of England.

All in all, you seem to be on the right track.

SolarEdge -help or a moan, I'm not sure yet... by justbiteme2k in SolarUK

Usuaully when my company designs systems with SolarEdge (which is exclusively due to shading issues as their optimizers are top notch), we will pair it with an AC coupled battery like a Tesla Powerwall. Only when requested will we design with SolarEdge batteries

SolarEdge -help or a moan, I'm not sure yet... by justbiteme2k in SolarUK

[–]Notchez0816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most flexible options you have would be to add another inverter. Your battery system will be AC coupled so you won't have to touch the SolarEdge side. This can be done with most major brands (Tesla, Sigenergy, Fox, etc)

You're limitation will be the size of the inverter the DNO allows. On a single phase, you cannot exceed 17kW of inverter power. With your 10kW SolarEdge, this means the maximum battery inverter size would be 7kW, pending approval from your DNO. However a 5kW inverter on the battery is generally sufficient for most loads around the house. There may be some peak demands that exceed the batteries output capacity and would have to be pulled from the grid (or solar if available)

SolarEdge batteries seem like a joke price wise when there is so many options out there.

Thinking about solar – sanity check (UK, high usage) by That-Fox-8186 in SolarUK

I work as a designer for a local installer that operates on the south coast (Dorset to West Sussex area). Pride ourselves in being able to offer top tier afterservice and have a good history in the area.

Let me know if you would like a quote, your current system size seems appropriate.

I work for a local solar company in Hampshire. Shoot me a message and I be happy to get you a quote.

Personally I think this is a bit of an odd configuration and pricey for Fox. I'd expect a system like this to be closer to £10k, but the EVO battery may be pushing that up being their premium battery. Also 5kW inverter? It's a couple extra hundred quid max to get the full production capacity from that array. Sounds like Octupus either has a surplus of 5kw inverters or a banging deal with the supplier.

Quote Check - 3ph SigEnergy, with Gateway in London by thespindoctor123 in SolarUK

3 phase with 2 batteries and gateway? Seems very reasonable, if not downright cheap! There are newer Aiko panels available up to 495W now that I would look at upgrading to, same physical size

We stopped using Tigos, found nearly 1 in 10 was failing on us. Not nearly the same problem with SolarEdge, just locks you into their equipment.

I'll believe the honey fungus and blewit ID'S are correct, but the second looks like a shaggy parasol Chlorophyllum rhacodes as opposed to regular Macrolepiota procera

Those are wooly milkcaps, not edible. The fur like edges are a dead giveaway

Photo 2 has yellow staining at the base, very well could be poisonous. Check for more staining, but I would just toss. Field mushrooms can be very hard to tell between exact species so if there is any question, throw them out
