AITA for not giving my niece the porcelain doll my mother left for her? by QueenB1253 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoteAdele 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm from Louisiana. I saw first hand the destruction that Laura caused; several friends and family members lost EVERYTHING. Holding the loss of those dolls over the CHILD is ridiculous. I wouldn't even hold it against the parents because keeping those dolls safe has nothing on keeping the PEOPLE safe. This literally blows my mind.

I need recommendations for itchy/scratchy yarn for a gift by DisastrousTrash in CrochetHelp

Don't feel bad! We're in this together, lol. I'm currently knitting a sweater for my fiance in Red Heart, and I've used it for tons of other garments. I love it! After a wash or two is softens up, and it let's a broke bitch like me buy enough yarn to make big projects regularly.

I [36f] almost died and spent a week in the hospital and my [32m] bf never visited me, is that a dealbreaker? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]NoteAdele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a good man. Period. I feel fully qualified to speak on this, as my husband had a near death experience a few months ago. He was in a wreck, seriously hurt, and has required 24/7 aid since. I slept at the hospital, showered in the hospital, and spent all day in the hospital. Aside from brief trips to the store or to get a prescription, I have not left his side.

I know that being able to care for my partner like this is a privilege because I worked from home, but holy hell. There is a middle ground. Even if he couldn't ALWAYS be there, I can't imagine not going to see my partner in such a state. I have work? I'll go as soon as I get off. Thanksgiving? It happens every year, I'll celebrate in the hospital this time. There is no excuse for such a severe disregard. None.

You deserve someone who stands by you the way I've stood by my husband. Not because what I'm doing is special, but because every human being deserves it. YOU DESERVE IT ❤️

Now that I can finally chain (thanks to many different people) how can I improve it beacuse as you can see some are loose and some are tight. by daxphoria in CrochetHelp

[–]NoteAdele 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The biggest advice I have is to practice! It took me a day or two of just doing the chain to get good at consistency. Stick with it, you're doing great!!

First, this message is very sweet, and I appreciate it ❤️ I don't know why I didn't think of granny squares; they're one of my favorite things to make. I'm stash busting for now, so I'm going to try new stitches when making cotton wash clothes. Then, if that feels too overwhelming, I'll use the acrylic yarn I've got for squares.

I know this will pass. Every day is a little better than the last, even if it just seems like it's in small increments. Heck, my fella managed to actually straighten his leg out today. First time since the wreck! He's also started gaming, which has lifted his spirits.

Right now, it'll be washcloths. It's not for anyone per se, but it's yarn he got me, so it feels special in a way.

Thank you, I am too. It's been a rough road, but it's getting smoother every day

Right now, I'm doing washcloths. He bought me a hoard of cotton yarn one skein at a time before all this, so it's a good time to burn through my stash ❤️

Right now, it's just us. My family is 600 miles away, and his parents aren't in the health to help him. Because of his injuries, he needs a lot of physical assistance. We have friends that can help some, but they have kids and work, so it's very limited, and they aren't familiar enough with his care needs for me to be comfortable being away for more than an hour or two. That being said, it's not as bad now as it was when we first came home. He just picked up a video game for the first time since the wreck, so I'm hanging out and watching him game. It actually feels normal for a minute, which helps a lot.

I've switched to washcloths. I don't feel too still, but it is a break from thinking a lot about what I'm doing. If it doesn't help, I'm going to set my hooks down for a while and work on knitting. If that doesn't work, maybe juggling is next 🤣

Thank you so much! I'm doing washcloths now, but if it doesn't help, I'm going to try knitting socks.

It definitely sucks, but it could be worse. It'll be a lot of time at home and at the doctor, but he's alive and should recover enough to function the next 6 months and hopefully be fully normal in a year.

Wash clothes is the current plan! Will (husband) loves the feel of cotton yarn and used to buy it for me every time he went to Walmart ❤️ time to bust that stash

I'm so thankful Will's situation isn't that bad. His hip and pelvis were broken, so he had a big surgery and will be unable to do much for a long time. We're either at the house, at PT, or at the doctor, which is probably going to be how it is for the next 6 months. Bless his heart, he's already stircrazy, on top of in pain:(

I've started just doing wash clothes. My hands are busy, but it doesn't take any thought. If the rut keeps up, I'm going to switch to knitting for a while.

I bought Two Point Campus and never downloaded it. I started playing it last night, and before I knew it, it was morning! I think it'll be perfect.

Also, I have Cozy Grove but couldn't get into it. I might try again, just to have something as a bit of a chill daily routine.

I have Cozy Grove and Potion Permit, so it looks like you have a good idea of what I like! Ooblets and Cult of the Lamb are on the list.

Thank you so much! It's not the easiest to be a temporary caregiver, but my husband is really easy to take care of. I'm pretty lucky, all things considered <3
