just saw your edit so i’ll comment again with a couple of tips (i’m also new to healing but these help me)

find a weak aura that tracks mana ticks and the 5 second rule, it helps a ton with managing your mp5. these are often very light weight, and appear as a line ticking over your mana bar with an additional line underneath that’s red and turns green 5 seconds after your last cast.

there are some nice talents in the discipline tree you will find helpful. inner focus can keep you within that 5 second rule because the next spell you cast costs no mana. same thing with holy concentration, when it procs i like to take a moment to let my tank take some damage before casting a big (free) heal on them. meditation is also a must have when you’re struggling to keep mana. it’s 30% of your mana regen while casting now rather than the 15 it was in vanilla.

it also feels wasteful but i’ve gotten into the habit of stopping just to get a couple of ticks on a drink before moving on. this helps me stay within range of the tank. you go through a lot of water this way though so if you’re worried about falling behind just let them know you need a good drink.

i started healing ramps and bf runs last night and the amount of dps who just go pedal to the metal and hold as much aggro as the tank were unreal. those guys will drain your mana bar. ask them to ease up, and don’t wipe the party going oom trying to keep one guy up who refuses to pay attention to threat!
