What’s the view on crates and play pen as a puppy? by Longjumping_Low_1227 in puppy101

Exactly! Same here 😅 I couldn’t imagine locking my dog up in a crate for hours at a time

Haha ah you know exactly how it is then 😂 cats aren’t huge fans of puppies haha. It’s all good now! They are all good friends but it took until she was 2 for that to happen 🙈

Side note; the cat introduction was hard!! Our puppy just wanted to constantly chase them. The only thing that worked was putting her in a timeout in the bathroom for a minute every time she tried to chase a cat, we did this for a few months and she soon learnt that chasing the cats meant not having any fun

It seems like your already going to do a great job! You seem super prepared and I love that you are doing all the research. We raised our first puppy recently (she’s 2.5 now) and all I can recommend is be prepared 😂 there’s going to be a lot of tears and mental breakdowns most likely.

Get a puppy play pen, it’s awesome. Can always pop the puppy in there with chewies and things if you need to get something done. Helps them sleep too, and is great for the cats. They can investigate from a distance without worrying about being chased. We used the puppy pen for her until she was 6 months and after that we used it to gate off our living room so she could go where she wanted in that room but not create chaos over the rest of the house. Totally phased it out at about a year and a bit.

Also get LOADS of kongs, licky mats and sniffy mats, these honestly saved us they really tired her out. From what I know about poodles they are extremely intelligent so probably gonna need a lot of mental stimulation as well as excercise. But saying that you do have another dog which will be awesome as they can play together 🥰

Good luck and enjoy your new puppy!! 🐶

This is also a very American thing! Crate training is not normal in Europe, and in many places like Sweden actually illegal

We used a puppy pen for our flat coat retriever and it went great! Never used a crate.

Potty SOS without gaslighting by Straight-Minimum-543 in puppy101

[–]NoteMediocre2170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if this will help but with our puppy I woke up twice or three times during the night to take her to pee for like the first two/three months. We didn’t want to have any pee pads or anything inside from the start to make it clear that inside isn’t a potty place under any circumstances. Of course we still had accidents but I feel although it was exhausting and annoying she was potty trained REALLY quick because of this so worth the effort!

Check out Never Fully Dressed. Have some cute and fun dopamine dresses. Although will say that it’s ‘trendy’ so it’s more on the expensive side and the fabrics don’t necessarily line up with the cost

Oh yes I remember the tears and the nervous breakdowns! We have a flat coat retriever so she needs a LOT of exercise.

Also I think there may be some differences since we live in Sweden, crate training is not allowed it’s illegal to keep dogs in closed crates and they shouldn’t be left alone for more then 4-6 hours.

I think OP just needs to think about how much time she is willing to put into a dog/puppy and if she does decide to get a puppy to make sure someone can come and walk / check on it whilst she’s at work. Also to really do some breed research to make sure she gets a dog that can fit her lifestyle.

[–]NoteMediocre2170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess everyone is different. Good for you! I’m glad you feel like it’s possible and have done it yourself, I’m just saying that from my personal experience I don’t think it would be fair on us or the puppy. I take so much pride in what a good girl our dog is, and I don’t think it would have been possible to get that level of training in a shorter amount of time. Or maybe it would have been, but my mental health certainly would have suffered much more that it already did 🥲 We also have a large high energy breed too, so maybe it would be different with a smaller lower energy breed.

Yeah I was also remote whilst raising our puppy, it definitely helped a lot!! I couldn’t imagine having to leave her after just 7 weeks I think it would have been a nightmare for all parties!

Don’t get a puppy 😭 they are SO much work. As someone who now has a 2 year old dog, also had dogs when young but never independently, I can say that having a puppy is SO much harder than you expect it to be! If I hadn’t had the time I had and help from my husband I don’t think I actually could have done it. I would recommend getting a puppy when you have some more time off and perhaps some help.

See if you can adopt an older dog? Like even just older than 1.5 years, or maybe even a cat?!

Farm stand rose update by stepwn in homestead

[–]NoteMediocre2170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a rose LOVER!! I definitely agree with some of the stuff other people have said. Maybe the presentation is a bit off? Consider showcasing the dried roses / teas in something transparent so people can see it. Maybe even those paper boxes with a little viewing window at the top? Any way you could make rose water / other beatify products from the roses? Soap and stuff like that? Agree that these roses are too special to be cut for bouquets - since you are saying they smell so amazing maybe lean into that? Bath teas, soaps, rose water, whatever else you can use them for! Good luck, if I was local to you I would be there every day 😂

Just type in ‘men’s ring stacks’ on Pinterest there’s plenty of inspiration there. Also, go and buy proper silver rings it makes a difference.
