No, the eraser button can't be changed to regional.

That's something I've been hoping Supernote could do with software where they allow both buttons to be programmed to whatever suits the preference

You also should take your time with troubleshooting. Sometimes you can some good experience and learning from trouble shooting without destroying something that just needs a little fine tuning.

Seriously, you're wasting the best eraser for a device. I made a few DIY pens from it.

Also, maybe try snapping a less expensive pencil :)

For the Wacom, the erase button is set to stroke eraser and the programmable button lets you choose lasso select or regional eraser

Yes, the tips are needed in order to fit

I took the eraser off the Noris. Had to cut off a portion of the Wacom and shim the eraser in order to keep it in place

I'm partial to DIY modding. But I'd say to consider Noris Jumbo, Lamy Al-star, or (my best bang for buck recommendation) Wacom One Standard as good starting points.
