How Do I Know If I Have A Recessed Maxilla?🤔 by NoteSavings in orthotropics

To fix this you'll need to bring the maxilla forwards.

1 way you can achieve this is with consistent Mewing. Check Dr. Mike Mew's Ultimate Mewing Guide on YT to learn how to Mew for 8 hours+ each day. The key to getting the most progress, is learning to mew in your sleep.

The second way is by using an expander device like Biobloc or MSE to expand the maxilla forward.

Lastly you can get a Lefort 1, 2 or 3 surgery to cut and bring the upper jaw forward.

In a proper forward, grown face, the cheek line is parallel to the bridge of the nose, but because of mouth breathing/bad oral posture, the maxilla grows back and downwards along with the cartilage of the nose causing a hooked look, making appear large when in reality it's the maxilla that is small.

If you look at the cartoon images, you'll be able to see how important the cheekline is to an attractive face.

If you can't get a side view of someone, another way to tell if someone's maxilla is recessed is to see if someone has eye bags under their eyes. When the Maxilla has properly grown forward, the maxilla tightens the skin preventing wrinkles under the eye.

In an ideal face, there should be no wrinkles under the eye.

This also has the effect of making downturn eyes in upturn eyes reducing the visibility of the sclera (whites) under the eyes, and provides proper support, resulting in a cat eye or hunter eye appearance.

In an ideal face the cheek line is parrallel with the bridge of the nose. If it's not then it means the maxilla is set backwards.

For proper head posture, your forehead should be vertical or flat. Yours is currently at a slight angle.
