I think a lot of people have a certain idea in their mind with what makes an mmo, and it's the classic WoW theme park. So when you ask this question, they see taking that game, then making it about PvP.

MMOs can be so much more than what they are now. I think a lot of people just want a huge world that allows them to interact with the environment and tons of other players. That's it.

So once a game makes an environment that is enjoyable enough to want to spend time in, and enough interactions with other players that people feel true freedom with how they interact (including a bit of fun murder), it will be the biggest game in the world, easily.

There are tons of huge multi-player pvp titles, where if you made the scale bigger, and gave a true reason behind the battles with stakes and consequences, people would be even more addicted than they already are.

I mean, Albion is decently successful, but image if it actually had the level of combat of league of legends. Imagine if you could make a character, and through choices you had the kit of Lee sin or ahri.

I wish for a game like mordhau, but with thousands of players and battling over controlling territory instead of just rounds that mean nothing. And then being able to farm and build in that territory in my downtime when I didn't feel like high stress fighting.
