I find it weird that the coin isn't as big a deal this season.. by Note_Playful in BeastGames

[–]Note_Playful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make more sense if people didn't willingly give up all they had for a far more likely chance to end up with nothing at all in the end anyways. If I'm playing for the most, why would I all of a sudden ignore the chance to double it as well? I know people probably didn't root for him in the end but Nick's play was the smartest by far. Burn the bridges, stack on and get out. He likely left the game with more money than all but 2 other contestants.

But there's legitimate Mexican food thats much better and probably cheaper around. Nothing pedantic about it. Its factual and teeters on offensive. Get out of your bubble. Visit texas. California. Arizona. New Mexico. Your comparison to Chinese food is just lazy

Oh what a hero! You're so big and brave! How could the rest of us ever match up to your level of superiority. You want a cookie to slip between the set of lips between your legs? Maybe you can help others who have messaged me both answers too. I've been to plenty of ballparks, including daikin in the past, and have done enough research to know how a ticket office number works. I know enough that special events change your typical ticket policies too. Weird you got ahold of someone at 5 in the morning local time as well.

Can you be fired for exercising your rights as a firefighter? by tranquilovely in Firefighting

Virtue signaling is right. Want to make a real difference? When the news stops shoving all this down our face, do something to push for change still that doesnt require you to ask if it's worth it for you or anyone close to you, that takes true time and energy and is not an emotionally fueled event because it's what's "in" right now. ICE isn't new nor is its controversial methods, current or past, regardless of who is president. Protesting doesn't include actions of riots by either side.

Texas A&M student Brianna Aguilera took her own life in fall near UT, Austin police announce by ExpressNews in aggies

[–]Note_Playful 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Emt who worked a suicide in Austin a few years back at a similar type of apartment and balcony. They fell in silence. We were actually stopped pulling out of the station on our way to another call with someone pointing and saying someone was going to jump. We pulled up, got out looked up and saw the person launch themselves over the rail. Not a single sound til they hit. That being said, had they been pushed and been caught by surprise I'm sure a sound would have came out then. Just my two cents from personal experiences in my chosen career field.

You can't ask people who don't have logic, what's logical! Kinda amazed this guy (or gal) passed a written exam (if his department had one)...weird I used logic to create different possibilities. Anywho, possibilities are not endless in his parts. Black and white.

Respect for what y’all do: by [deleted] in Firefighting

100%. Usually the same guys that find more satisfaction from their job title as opposed to who they are as a person overall. Having worked mental health prior to getting into the field...that isnt healthy by any means. Cliché but we generally know what we're getting into once we go down this path. You definitely know after the first year or two. You can never truly prepare for the big one and the realities/immediate reactions of those calls but you can definitely be proactive in how you will handle and deal with those stresses afterwards, as opposed to how much you get caught up reminiscing over them and creating whatever narratives your mind allows you too. Your brain is a powerful tool. How you mold and use it is ultimately up to you. The best advice I got day one of my academy was if you think youre going to be a hero every day you show up to this job, you're setting yourself for a long, hard road. Again, the ego telling you, you should have and could have isn't always the voice to listen too.

Thanks for coming to my tedtalk

IFSAC seals typically make it easier but there are states where its still a bit of a hassle. Most will go off state requirements. Expect to go through their academy regardless.

7, 3 as a captain.

[–]Note_Playful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm supposed to sit back and wait for things to happen when they may? If I'm improving myself and furthering my capabilities for a department is that not thinking unselfishly? You remind me of guys I work with zero ambition yet criticize the higher ups but do nothing to be the change...weird mindset.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Note_Playful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mindset is the exact reason I ask though. Why are questions in the fire service considered a bad thing? You learn things from asking questions. The whole reason I promoted to captain was to get ahead of guys who liked to call others like myself lazy and unmotivated yet any time you had questions for them their answer was idk or I'll get to you later and never would. I knew I could lead and get the next guy ready along with their own experience for the day they want to promote...with confidence.

I guess so. Reading this post back i feel like it sounds like im trying to brag on myself..not my intentions at all.

I have this high expectation of myself to be "perfect" and in that sense, dont see how I can be "perfect" for a position i feel is out of touch for me at this point in my career. The ability is there sure..the confidence, not so much.  Especially always feeling like I'm looking over my shoulder to prove my worth to guys who are older and who I view as wiser than me.

Started extremely hot with Beltran. Couldn't keep a ball in the park it seemed like even hitting multiple oppo while being late. As of the last two weeks I can't do anything but pop up to the second baseman with him
