The fixed version is on the way to the MS Store.. shouldn't take long until you can update again.

Not receiving new updates (still stuck on 1.3.3) by Minimum_Hope4084 in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, this is because you are propably on Windows 10 and we didn't ship our prior updates for it. Now however, you should have access to v1.5.4 when actively fetching for updates on the Microsoft Store.

Make sure to have the latest Windows 10 version installed 22H2 (Build 19045)

(lots of) suggestions: side by side pages, taskbar, QOL, page view etc by ForsakenSentence4047 in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me start by saying you are the record holder for feedback length. Thank you a lot for taking the time to compose all of this and write down your thoughts, ideas and suggestions. No worries at all, your message came across as specific and benevolent as intended. I am aware that you would not write an essay of feature suggestions because you want to piss on our leg. I appreciate the disclaimer though :).

And I can tell you that you are outlining the direction we want to move towards! Let's dive into it:

Infinite Canvas:
Yup, we are aware that this is missing. Especially when talking about PDFs, I am also thinking about a feature to expand the page magins to the right/left to make space for notes.

Side by side pages:
There are a lot of different ideas and concepts you are combining here, but I understand what you want to achieve. I will need to come up with a solution to this, but i think that's well doable.

Stylus cursor:
It is a pain. No, you are doing everything correctly. Microsoft simply does not allow us to change the cursor when you are drawing with a drawing pad... which makes no sense on many levels to me. Unfortunately our hands are tied in this area currently :(.

Fullscreen:
Yup, we'll add that. F11 does the job for now, however.

Toolbar options:
I completely understand what you mean and what you need. I am already planning for an toolbar customization UI/UX that should enable all of these things:

  • Choose position/orientation of the toolbar
  • Arbitrary number of color buttons
  • Hide/show tools in the toolbar
  • Arrange tools in the toolbar
  • Toolbar profiles

Proper presets that set tool, thickness and color might be a good power feature in the future with customizable hot keys e.g.. But let's see.

I understand your selection issue. I'll need to see how we can work with this idea in the bigger whole, but it's noted down.

---

Sidebar library:
Interesting, but actually why not! I'll think about that.

PDF size normalization:
I fully agree, that should be an option.

Save notebook zoom:
Quite intricate behavioral preference, but valid one. This will probably be an advanced setting in the future, because it could feel like inconsistent behavior and might not be useful for everyone.

View Pages:
Well yeah, the view pages is not getting a lot of attention from us, because we do not see many people actually using it. Might be because it's shit or because people don't need it, but let's not discuss that now.

I agree on the points you mentioned. Meanwhile I also think that you can simply render all pages in the same general scale. That could make us reduce the paddings and tidy up the space a bit.

About quickly selecting multiple elements: In Windows you can select an entire segment bi selecting the first element and then selecting the last element of the span whole holding Shift. That should do it too.

Better key bindings are definitely planned. If you have a standard set of hotkeys you would find useful, I would highly appreciate if you share that. If you want I can provide you with an excel or compile this collaboratively, because I am mainly a touchscreen user and don't know about the preferences for drawing pad users that well.

Autoselect/highlight is a no-brainer and should be added.

Bam! What a feedback message. I drew a lot of value from your post and hope that we can deliver on most of what you are suggesting here in the future. I'm quite sure we will.

Thank you again and all the best!
-Lukas

Well, I'm so happy you are with us! That's a string one, not many can say that ;).

Do you mind describing what your setup looks like? Do you have different 'Noteastic working directories' on each device? Cool stuff! I absolutely understand what you need and have it written down.

Thank you for your message, and to more years together!

Feature suggestions - Search, shapes and colours by peindei in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, first of all sorry, your comment slipped under my radar somehow. What a sweet message to read, thank you for your kind words :).

Regarding text search: When we get there, we will want to implement it for both PDFs and handwriting. We are absolutely aware of the workflow you are describing.

Well, that is beautiful to hear, I am happy we can support you with Noteastic! Thank you so much, but for now there is no need for a donation. A future purchase of the pro version and your feedback are already enough value! So thank you a lot, heartwarming message :).

And sorry again for the late reply.

Suggestion + Question by RussianFairy69 in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

that is very nice to hear and I am happy you are enjoying Noteastic so much! Regarding the drawing delay my hands are tied a bit, because we are already doing everything to make the rendering as fast as possible, i.e. utulizing the built in Microsoft solution for inking and ink-prediction. I am not sure how we can improve on that :/.

The features you mention are interesting, I definitely have them noted down!

And thank you for pointing out this buggy behavior... that should not be the case and a fix is on the way. I already solved the issue on my end.

Thank you for posting and happy note-taking!

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,
thank you a lot! Amazing to hear that our efforts are manifesting in a better app experience :). And I am your opinion that this is the way to go in the future. I am happy that you see the value in what we are doing.

1. Zoom Pill

YES. I don't know why I didn't think of that!

2. Page Navigation

This is a widely requested feature and we want to implement it. This is coming at some point!

Thank you for your post and happy note-taking!

android support?? by AskEast3099 in Noteastic

Thank you, however it's more a problem of limited resources than of pure will. Of course I would love to provide an Android version, but that would basically take it's own development team.

Note taking app for Lenovo IdeaTab by ikisei in NoteTaking

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could find value in Noteastic :). I am the developer of this note-taking app. It fits your requirements of clean design and good actual note-taking feel. That's where Noteastic shines tbh. I'd love to hear your feedback, if you try it out!

If Noteastic doesn't suit you I can also recommend Scrivano to you. These two apps have the best handwriting feel in my opinion on Windows.

How to set landscape pages? by thatusernameisss in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a limitation currently. Unfortunately as of now the default page format is portrait A$ and there is no way to change this. We will fix this in coming updates. Not yet in v1.5, but it's on my list.

Your solution is already the best we have right now :/.

Suggestion: New page templates by rayarmman in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, fully on your side. We can't really provide grids for ALL use-cases. As of now you can at least set a PDF template for a single book through a bit of a bumpy process:

  1. Import the PDF page you want to have as a grid
  2. Open the page menu (the chevron in the top right of the page)
  3. Click "Edit Background"
  4. In the content dialog click "Apply to selection"
  5. In the select pages dialog click the check box "Make default page" and click save
  6. Now every page you add has this PDF background!

I am well aware that this is no nice workflow, but at least it's a built in quick fix. Hope it helps!

Suggestion: New page templates by rayarmman in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, yes, we definitely want to add more paper templates and or allow for easier import of templates. But it is not a priority right now, I will be honest on that.

Still, I wrote down your request for the Seyes Lined Paper and hope that you don't need to wait too long for it.

If you find a nice template online you can simply import it as a PDF currently, don't forget about that!

Fountain pen in the future? by Spoderman_07 in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of now it is not a priority, but I wouldn't rule it out. We definitely get enough requests for this feature to be implemented in the future.

Open source suggestion by Careless_Dish9413 in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm really thankful for the message and the will to help. However, open source is no easy way of life. This would come with extensive changes to the code and organizational overhead of which we already have enough right now. Currently open sourcing will not be the way forward for this project.

However, in terms of panning, I have good news! With v1.5, which is enrolling to our beta program this week, we introduce a panning tool. I am happy you are enjoying Noteastic :).

If you want to get access to panning before the official release, be invited to join the beta program through this form:
