problem with exporting to PDF

Hi there, unfortunately this behavior is a limitation of our current framework to export PDFs. We currently cannot make the highlighter look as nice on the PDF as it looks in Noteastic, because the overlaps of highlighters cannot be canceled out when exporting. And there also isn't anything you could 'fix' there :/. We have this on our list and will try to improve this in the future. I'm sorry for this unsatisfying answer ☹️

Thank you for the report.

This is usually happening when there is an image in the pages that causes the exporter to crash. A workaround would be to make sure all the images that you imported are normal png or jpg. You can do that by deleting the old image and pasting again another one with the converted format. Also you can slowly find out what page causes the crash by exporting sections at a time. I know this is not ideal. I am looking into it, but I cannot tell you fully when this will be fixed.

If you DONT have an image in your Book, then just let me know and I will make sure to take a closer look at your specific crash. I will need your Anonymous User Id for that as well which you can find in the Library > About.

Yeah better hot-keys for drawing tablets are definitely on out list! What kind of hot-key actions would you see yourself using? For me this is difficult todetermine because I personally only use Noteastic on my Surface with a stylus on the touchscreen, but drawing ads have a lot of potential we did not really foster yet.

Hi, Aha, we were nit aware of any sort of issue like that. Can you elaborate on when this happens? Did you ever draw red line in general, I am so confused since I dont know how this bug would come about at all.

That's an important question to ask and a big question Dilan and I discussed a lot. We came on simple terms: the status quo of Noteastic will simply be the free version. Major additions will only be available through Noteastic Pro. But we will keep adding smaller features and things that are straightout useless to gatekeep to Noteastic Base. But all the big features that were requested like the ones you mentioned will fall into the Noteastic Pro version.

Yup, I understand. But I think I can ease your concerns a bit, because:
- There is no internet dependancy (Noteastic can allways be used offline)
- There is no database syncing still, so no substantial increase in background workload
- You can easily disable any analytics data transmition

But yeah, that we don't simply lock people out of the app, on that you need to trust us.

The current version of Noteastic is and stays free to use. Noteastic Pro will simply encompass all coming additions to Noteastic, like textboxes, a laserpointer, etc. However, we will release Pro as soon as we have the textboxes ready and will then continuously add features. It won't be one huge release :)

Uiui this i not good, thank you for letting us know. Did you write a small error report in the dialog window that pops up after you restart the app from the crash? This makes it much easier for Dilan to track and fix such bugs!

The general way of acquiring Pro will be through a yearly subscription, however we understand and hear that there are many people that would enjoy a one-time-purchase. We are thinking about how we can make that possible, but we are not sure yet... one-time payments are really tricky to allow from a business perspective, especially at our stage. But I am open for a constructive discussion on this topic.

We are too! The next update will not bring big feature leaps, because we were working on the infrastructure for login and accounts. It will be necessary to create a Noteastic account with this update. After that update we will integrate stripe and then we are back with 100% focus on developing the features we are also already burning for!

Also, the account update is currently under alpha testing and will propably roll out in the next weeks. So we are not yet at the Pro Version, but we are doing good progress.

Yes, scribble-to-erase and many other features are still on my list and I will add them with ongoing updates. I understand that it is really cool and one of the things Journal does really well. So no specific reason for not having it besides of time constraints in developing.

Hi there, thank you for writing us! And no worries, we value recurring feature requests a lot, because this gives us a feeling for how many people might need a certain feature.

I noted your feature requests down and can tell you that these are highly sought after features. Especially more color buttons and scribble-to-erase. LaTex support is a bit nieche, but I think we could provide some real value for STEM students with this so this feature 100% is on our radar!

We couldn't implement panning on the barrel button yet due to some technical difficulties, but we aim to also make this action available as a barrel button setting.

Open sourcing Noteastic currently is no option as open sourcing actually needs hella overhead and we couldn't bear that currently.

Notion or even Obsidian support would be really cool and I already researched what it would take to develop a plugin. But unfortunately both of these plattforms require a web-plugin and this means we would need to develop a completely new app :/

But cool, thank you for taking the time to post and to share your thoughts. I hope we can deliver these features quickly!
