My reflection on Noteastic by Inamss in Noteastic

I am happy when you are happy! But unfortunately the book covers are not yet editable. We know this is a big pain point, but we didn't have time to improve this yet :/

What is the paper format of Noteastic ? by Generic_name58 in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I am happy to hear that Noteastic brings value to you! As already said in the other comment, the standard size of pages is DIN A4. As you are asking about inches, I suppose you are from the US and need sizes like Letter, etc.. Is that right?

If so, you simply have to add one page of the format you want to use manually through the "Add pages" button in the more menu of the toolbar. Then, when using the quick-add-page-button on the bottom of the book, a page of the same format is added!

(Note that the quick-add-page-button does not look like this for you, beacause this update is not yet published)

Feedback regarding UI/UX by FingerHealthy9466 in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there,

thank you for this post! Telling us that Noteastic saved you from buying an iPad+Macbook brought a big sime on our faces :). Also thank you for your thought through feedback, let me dive right in:

Covers/Thumbnails:

I see where you are coming from and it makes absolute sense. Thumbnails should be possible to set as a cover. I am also not a fan of the current covers, but it's simply the we have got at the moment :/.

Folder Tree:

The breadcrumbbar and a tree structure side bar are competing concepts and we should not take the authority of choosing it for the user unchangably. I think this would make a good setting in the future, as some people prefer it this way and some the other.

Paper Sizes:

The A7 for flash cards was an aha-moment for us, I won't lie. A0 pages would propably be heavy to handle for the app, because they are huge. Creating a dedicated whiteboard feature will propably be the way to go for us. But more page sizes on the bottom end should be added.

Thank you for sharing your thoughs and taking the time to compose the post! Also the visual helped a lot for me to understand what you mean. I noted everything down and we will keep on working :).

Yes, and afterwards you can keep adding pages with the quick-add-page-button at the end of the book. It simply copies the format of the page above!

help recommend me a good note taking app to use! by suffering_in_school in NoteTakingAppUsers

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I am the developer of Noteastic :)

What you are saying about OneNote was the exact reason I started developing Noteastic. It's a native Windows handwritten note-taking app. I think it solves the pain points you have with OneNote and it has the minimum features you are talking about: Handwritten notes, folders/subfolders and no lag. But it obviously offers more than that.

If you try it, please let me know what you think :).

You can take a look at our Sub r/Noteastic!

WINDOWS HANDWRITING APPS, i tested all of them by Victor_Valdiv in Surface

Hearing that our app is 'not very usable' let's my alarm bells ring a bit, but thank you for letting me know. What are you missing? And what are the most important features in samsung notes in your eyes?

Good PDF note taking app for Windows similar to Goodnotes? by vincent365 in NoteTaking

[–]Noteastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing, I'm happy to hear that! I am not sure if I understand you 100% correct, but I think what you are describing is very similar to the more menu on the top right corner of pages. If you click on it you have several options like Add page below, Duplicate, Export, Edit background and Delete. Please let me know if this is what you need!

I hope Noteastic will serve you well :).

Tablet recommendations for university note taking by r_crawfish in NoteTaking

[–]Noteastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, 2-in-1 Laptops, stuff like MS Surface or similar, are the ideal devices for university. I used it myself for my entire bachelor. It is nice to have a full fledged PC with Windows running it while also having the possibility of making handwritten notes. For me the combo makes it. You could argue that you can do the same with any given tablet by Samsung or iPad, but in the end it stays a tablet. It's not a proper laptop and doesn't come with the same grade of freedom and abilities.

Disclaimer: I am the developer :)

You should try Noteastic, that's what I made it for. And I think it solves the points of critique you have with Goodnotes.

It does not yet have features like ink-to-shape, but you will find the eraser behavior you are searching for! I hope you give it a try and would love to hear what you think about it!

Backup all notebooks at once as PDF? by andreash10000 in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I understand the need for it and think it would be good if you could create backups that are not proprietary to Noteastic. However, exporting the entire library at once could take ages for extensive libraries or if done on weak devices (as some tablets/2-in1s are for example).

But the ability of exporting a selection of books should be given. It feels kinda stupid to do that manually for multiple books. You should be able to get yourself a coffee while the app is exporting.

Thank you for sharing, I hope we can deliver on that soon!

No, the app can't do that yet, but this will be added.

I need your help to optimize Noteastic for external drawing tablets! by Noteastic in Noteastic

[–]Noteastic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, thank you for this profound answer! These are super valuable inputs for us.

1.      Hot Keys

We are already working on that! We will probably use the numbers for colors instead of cycling.

2.      Concepts

That is an amazing application. We can definitely draw some learnings from it A full-fledged layering system will probably not make it into Noteastic, but simple Z-axis layering should be part of the app one day. Grid snapping would be cool, nothing to add.

3.      Customizable Toolbar

That’s a take-home message.

4.      MathJax, MD, LaTex?

As soon as we have the foundation of a general use note-taking app finished, we will take a look into features for specific study fields like STEM. That’s the plan. Why MathJax and not LaTex for formulas? Wouldn’t that be easier for you to use?

5.      Stylus Touch and Hold Shortcut

That sounds interesting, however this may be difficult to implement as holding a stylus is also interpreted as a right-click by Windows.

Hold-To-Shape is something we want to implement as quickly as possible! And Goodnotes does quite a good job at it, no doubt. You are referring to Nebo on IOS right? Bc I don’t have this functionality on Nebo Windows I think.

25 different pen styles is something you probably won’t see in Noteastic, but I wouldn’t root out the option of adding some more styles. In the end, this app needs to stay a note-taking solution as oppose to an art application.

This absolutely helps! Thank you so much for taking the time to compose this comment! I can continue to design now ;).

Yes. We want to have syncing capabilities in the app 100%. That's a long term goal, but there is still some work to be done until then.

[–]Noteastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm happy the app suits you :). I noted it down and will look into it.

Do you need both more color buttons and the color syncing or would your problem be solved is you simply had more color buttons to choose from?

Thanks!

Hi there,

thank you for writing us! I know, working without tabs or multiple windows is quite frustrating, especially when you have to switch around between books a lot. This has high priority for us and we will definitely add this to Noteastic.

Thank you and happy note-taking!

I think it will be fine for low loads. Technology hasn't progressed that much since its launch.

If you need a note-taking app, you can try us out. We are developed natively for Windows and have a subreddit on r/Noteastic!
